I don't know any such thing without doing the analysis of the numbers and determining a break even point.  In other words how much does a school have to make in order to increase their bottom line against, say, increased travel costs?  What are the revenue projections of increased tickets sales for playing the new teams vs the existing ones?  Are their penalties for breaking our contract with the AAC?

It could very well be profitable for us if we get 5 mil a year.  We would still ask for 20 mil but at least we could know how low we could go for it to make sense for us in case there was a bidding war.

Since the AAC's charter was an over write of the Big Easts, I think we still have to give a 27 month notification prior to exiting. So yes, I expect there would be a penalty.

That implies that the same deal would be on the table.  I don't think it is.  What if they offered 10%?  I am just curious as a USF MBA what the break even point is here.

What I think this says about the B12 is they are going to make as much as they can off the TV contract for the next 6 years and increase their chance for getting in the NCG.  After that, who knows?

Texas can say we will vote to let in 4 new teams if they get to keep the money that Fox is contractually obligated to give the B12 (and the B12 is not obligated to spread evenly).

If you honestly think anyone is jumping into that mess if the bolded statements are enacted, then you're wrong. As an MBA, you should already know that. Even if this is a money grab, there is a certain amount of money they would have to pay the newcomers just to justify calling them members of a Power Conference. No school is coming in with out the opportunity to increase their bottom line.

  3. Well folks, tomorrow is Tuesday. Yes I know it probably is a Tuesday like many Tuesdays before it but, It's a Tuesday and we all know College Football  Expansion happens on a Tuesday. The chatter is building for yet another epic let down but, perhaps there will be some good news coming out of this. Perhaps USF gets to return to the big leagues, maybe not. At the very least TBP get's to say Bon Voyage to TigerFred or whom ever he is.

I for one am standing by Popcorn and Champagne in hand. I'm simply riveted by the possibilities of the Big 12 making a decision about anything. :icon_drink:

The only logical prediction. Coach T has doubled his win total every year(2, 4 and 8) unless we add a 13th regular season game 16-0 is not possible so 15-0 has to do.

Well, if we count the spring game as some other programs have. 16-0 is possible. So yeah, we got this! :GoBulls:

  5. Boren of the Big 12 with his latest article. http://www.oudaily.com/sports/oklahoma-football-boren-says-big-expansion-talks-cooling-off/article_db80c264-37d5-11e6-abb2-ef6ef57b98c6.html?mode=jqm The last paragraph pretty much lays it out. USF has this year and maybe next.

“We may meet again later in the summer, I don’t anticipate moving on expansion at that time,” Boren said. “I think it’s unlikely, now I don’t think it’s impossible, nothing is impossible when we all get together and put our heads together or if somebody comes forward that’s just a great star that wants to join the conference… but there’s no longer the urgency on expansion.”

ThusBut if you think they can somehow be used by the team for motivation they're otherwise lacking, you think it's possible for them to win games.

Articles themselves don't win games. It's the reaction of the team to articles that can win or lose games. Get caught up in too much hype and you relax and get blindsided. An article that's critical and non-flattering, can be used to bring a team back to their senses.
