I don't think it's as bad as they make it sound, but it still isn't nice to see...

I hope you realize that is BLEACHER REPORT. Anybody can write for them, so I wouldn't pay them any attention.

According to Rivals, of the 9 USF verbals 5 are 3-stars and the other 4 have not even been evaluated.

I know that Scout has us with fewer 3-stars, but many of the 2-stars they have for us are rated by their Florida site as being in the top 100 in the state. So, that doesn't make any sense.

haha.  its like calling an adult ugly before theyve been born.  you can't judge a recruiting class until they play and here we are not even close to signing day ( date of birth ? ).  yea, I'd like to see us with 25 5 star commits right now too, but such is life.  we still have many highly ranked players on our recruiting board, and beyond that there is the fact that recruiting is about more than recruiting rankings.

Not being a big recuiting knowledge based kinda guy I think the change over to Holtz may hurt us this year because kids don't know exactly what they are getting when they come to USF.  With CJL they knew what he was about and got some comfort level.  I hope that 2009 class turns out to be as good as they were ranked and it shows on the field.  Maybe even now more then ever we need to have a good year in the BE.

It doesn't matter what we were ranked in recruiting last year, we didn't have as many scholarships to give out as most of the schools ahead of us.  Schools get points for each player that signs so if we only have 25 schollys and another school has 30 they may end up with more points but less quality.

89, You can only have a class of 25 max each year. With 85 total schollies. Therefore 30 is truly an unattainable number.

Well, quite a few teams sign 30 or more players. We have done that ourselves. Some of those can be counted towards the previous class if you didn't sign 25 then. Some can be grayshirted to a future class. Some can be placed at prep school or in a JUCO. Leavitt, often oversigned. But, this year we only signed 20.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
