Just read another UGA bulldog mascot died last week at Univ of Georgia and it made me think about USF having a live bull mascot.  What was the last on USF having live bull?  Is it simply considered too dangerous and not likely ever to happen?  For safety, visiting teams could be advised not to wear red.  If someone watched him in corner of field on leash it ought to be manageble.  He could be a real crowd pleaser and could be sicced on streakers running on to field too for security.

FYI, the color red isn't anything special when it comes to bulls -- they'll charge whatever's moving, despite the color.

Bulls are colorblind.

Its the motion bullfighters do with the cape that incites the bull

I'm in.

But it ain't gonna happen until we are playing home games on USF campus.

The other school that waves horns somewhere in the Lone Star state has Bevo, the famous sedated longhorn.

It would be a cool tradition, but here is a logistical question: Where do we put him when we aren't playing home games? I know well why our mascot is the Bull, but there hasn't been livestock on or around the USF is quite some time. Do we contract a farmer east of town to watch the beloved Rocky? Its not like our school is a veterinary or livestock science powerhouse.

Guest nybullsfan

greetings from baton rouge!

mike 73 (or whatever his # is) lives right across the street from the on-campus stadium

if LSU can safely keep a friggin tiger, we can keep a bull (once we get our ocs)

Since we are beating this dead horse, yet again.....

I doubt that Texas's Bevo or Colorado's Chip is a bull. Based on my experience (farm boy) and their behavior, I'd say those two mascots are short a couple of body parts that would make them bulls. You can not tame and manage bulls, like you can steers. Hence, the reason for castrating them in the first place.

To my knowledge, there have been 2 live Brahma bulls raised to be mascots. Neither could be trained to handle crowds or crowd noise to the point that they would not be dangerous.

The only way I can see a live bull coming into any stadium, is to have him drugged, and I don't want that.

The above applies for RayJay or an OCS that will never happen.

You are correct, Rocky IV is down in Riverview at a farm and Rocky V is up in a pasture next to the Brooksville Beef O' Brady's and they are both white and ready to go... they are very docile and calm around people.

My Alumni Chapter (Hernando) has our watch parties up at the Brooksville Beef's and have spoken with the owners of Rocky IV and V and they will be willing to haul which ever Rocky down for an event in Tampa, the problem has been the University. We have been trying to get the Alumni to at least have it on campus for homecoming (which is very doable) and then hopefully ease it into Raymond James's parking lot and then into the stadium.

If you want to help the process along then contact the alumni assoc. and tell them that this is something you want... it may speed up the process.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
