Jordan (Kansas): How come the KU vs. USF game isn't getting any hype?

Ivan Maisel: I dont know. It has my attention. It is a huge game at South Florida. I was there last year on a Friday when they filled up Raymoind James and really took it to WVU. This is not a conference game, but I do think the Bulls and their fans see it is an opportunity to show the nation what they are all about. Tim Griffin pointed out KU has had trouble running the ball and I am not sure USF is where you go to fix that.

It makes no sense... I just got done watching CFL and unless I missed something, they only mentioned our game. No predictions or discussion.

Rightfully so.

I don't know why they wouldn't throw some mention of their primetime game friday evening.  It's not like we're up against OSU-USC

Thats why.  It is a smazza conspiracy.  OSU vs USC.....   :o

Seriously though, that game is so huge it is all the national press cares about.  

Our game is a top 15 vs a top 20.  Kind of ho hum when you consider a game with NC implications is on the line.

Our local press should promote the crap out of it.

theres no hype on campus either. most of my friends that ive talked are not even going if they got a 300 level ticket. its just not the same as if we were playing wvu. stadium will look empty come friday...

I get the feeling the upper deck will look surprisingly empty.  With the lack of National press I don't see Tampa coming out full force.  54K is my guess.

Agreed.  Our students are the most fickle yet.  It will take time for them to be in force at every game.  In order to get the lazy students out there, we will need the "wow" factor (the kind that beating Auburn got us) every season.  Sucks, I know.

So what happens when KU/USF is a great game that is fun to watch and the tOSU/USC game is boring because USC is winning so badly?  People are going to be changing the channel of the game on Saturday night and ESPN is going to feel dumb.  I have no doubt our game will get good ratings on Friday.
