So he's good enough for Michigan State to be interested, but not USF.  ::)  Got it.

I'm sure Izzo is going to be a huge force in landing him if they get rid of John L. Smith.

All this talk about Mariucci not being successful in Detroit is fine.  But, who has been successful in Detroit that didn't have Barry Sanders in the backfield?

However, the guy was 13-3 and 12-4 with the 49ers. I believe he still has a winning record in the NFL overall including the last few years in Detroit.  So its not like the guy is some sort of complete failure.  He also had a pretty good year at Cal, the one year he was their coach.

I think he is a perfect fit as a college coach.

that sounds almost as dumb as promoting Rod Smith to offensive coordinator.

What?  No.  You've got to be kidding.  There's at least a CHANCE such a hire could work out.

I'll take John L Smith if there done with him. That will really get to those redbirds. LOL I'd LOVE to be at the first game at Papa Johns.

BTW - I very much doubt CJL leaves USF, and/or JLS gets fired.

No way I'd take John L. Smith. The guy seems way too flaky and relaxed with his players. His teams tend to be some of the most penalized in the country. I didn't like him at Louisville, and I liked him less at MSU during my stint in Lansing. I really hope The JIM stays and replaces Smith at OC.

I know Jim likes to hire coaches he has worked with, so does anyone know of any OC's that have coached with Leavitt elsewhere that are available now?

That one made me laugh out loud during class.

I don't feel we need to replace JL.  But we MUST have change on the offensive side of the ball.

but look at it this way if CJL goes to K state would you mind having Mariucci as head coach

Why should he want to coach anywhere anytime soon.  He will get $11 million over the next 2 years if he does not coach
