Just to be an uber nerd, and because I hate the prequels, Yoda and Obi Wan are approximately the age they were when they died.  So it stands the reason the "old guy" should still be in the picture at the end of the movie.

Let me out-nerd you here... there is a quote about he "ceased to be the jedi" and "your father was destroyed" when he turned to the dark side, so, the young Anakin could be a representation of the moment he "ceased to be a jedi".
