Passionate fans, them 'neers.

Greg's pretty generous with this being a transition year. Hope he's right!
...and I tend to agree with him about Houston--Levine is no Sumlin.

Wow.
Her name's Carlton too? Introduce me!
LOL, the Crying Game...

link died?

Already a great FAN rivalry there, but time will tell if the football rises to that level--but I like the rivalry. Would love it to keep up the oh-fer record every year...we could give them a gold "zero" after every game. I know, I know, it can't last, but I can dream!

Cripes I hate being the new guy that can't post pics. I was more thinking the above star combined with the older Army A, which is very similar to the American's version. Sorry, I'll learn...til then, nevermind.

I played the trash-talk game with the ND guys and was very serious that we could beat them...it was nice to be right. But as much as our season crumbled that year, I always felt we were playing below our level...like we could be fantastic at any given game, but we never came around and last year's downer season is hard to recover from.
Now we hit the reset button, and I just can't honestly gauge how these guys will come out on game day. I don't want to be optimistic like I was with Skippy, and have to slink back to yard-work Saturdays again, hate that trade! I like our chances with CWT, but I'm not going to talk trash this year.
So I shift to neutral--aside from the iffy QB & secondary situation, I think we "can" hang with good teams. The question is, "will we?"
show me. Go Bulls!

Football education: What a great alternative to expensive marriage counseling! Who'd have thunk...

For some reason I think of Army.
But I love the colors.
That's it! Thanks, dude, I was having a hard time placing that "familiar feeling" I got looking at the logo. Esp green background with gold A, it's different enough but...

There is also Kennesaw St, in the Atlanta suburbs who is trying to get a program going. They are in SEC/ACC country and have GSU 10 miles away. They may stay in FCS though. But so far that schedule for UTSA so early in their program development, several BCS conference schools, is impressive to me.
They obviously have deeper pockets than we did. Looked like most of those "series" were home-and-home, so they're inviting the talent, not being invited.
-
^^ It's not that bad, at least we settled into a semi-respectable conference without going back to CUSA with our hat in our hands.
...at least until next year.
-
Well, in any case it'll be interesting to see how UTSA's model works out compared to ours. Both schools have rich but competitive recruiting grounds, so you have to wonder how they'll lure the talent. Moving up to CUSA follows our model, and it sounds like (so far) their staff is prepared to get them on the map. Let's see if they can get to a bowl game as fast as we did...

Yeah, not just pro career, he had issues at USF too. Hate that for him, he's blazing fast and has pretty good hands. Good luck to him with the Bucs!
-
It was nice when we added an FM station (92.9 the Game) there that talked sports from a non-ESPN point of view. You got one on me, though, having gone to Sanford stadium--I got the willies anytime I went near Athens!
-
lol, let's hope he doesn't have to do a lot of that at USF.
-
Nope, didn't forget, but thought we were talkin' da foosball. When it comes to football in ATL, you hear a lot more about UGA, Bama, Auburn, and UF than you do GT. Mostly because GT hasn't really done much since '90. Personally I can't stand UGA, and when it comes to venues it's hard to beat a game at Bobby Dodd in the fall...awesome!
GaUSFBull might have a different perspective?
-
How about odds of winning the conference? That is all I care about.
Yes!
1st priority, absolutely!

I wouldn't mind seeing UTSA on our away schedule. I'd like to have a reason to visit San Antonio. Georgia State is another program that I'd to see grow into an away schedule worthy opponent just to weaken the Ga Tech/ACC hold on Atlanta.
I lived in ATL, and there's no ACC hold there. SEC is huge in ATL (always play SEC champ in the Dome), lots of Bulldog fans there (boo) and definitely a growing fan base for GAST but they need what we need--more wins. They started out strong, but are fading.
Good for UTSA. They got the schedule for being weak and local, but credit their AD/staff for being able to pull in the P5 teams. Would love to see USF play them, would be another game I'd get to show up for!
-
Definitely like that approach, good for both the players and the fans!

One hope I have is that this year is a different setup in training camp. Last year, they got thrown into the starting position after preparing to be a backup. This year, they're all competing for the start, so they HAVE to step up their prep-work. They're all pretty smart guys, so they know what they have to work on...just hope camp shows they actually did the work. Competition is good for maturity, and from the news it sounds like all of them are working hard! ...trying the positive spin for a change.

We actually have one up here in GA, in a little town called Lawrenceville. Love their TropiChops ... that's some good food.
Just moved to TX from Duluth, went to that PT in L'ville as much as I could...sigh. Anyway sorry didn't mean to.
@usfvictor- I want to live where you do, if PT is low man on the totem.
Arco Iris is where you want to go for Cuban food in Tampa. Going to PT and calling it Cuban is like calling Tijuana Flats Mexican.
Cherish what you have! If you like Mexican or BBQ, I'm in the right place (TX), but I may as well live in the middle of N Dakota for Cuban food--PT is like an oasis!

Better than Conf USA
Yep
+1...Amen

Awesome, thanks Bulliever. He's got an uphill climb, so it's good to hear he's working hard!

It's starting, can you feel it? Michigan State football pass attack could thrive against depleted South Florida secondary

Good grief, so much confidence in our inability to play and we haven't even put a product on the field yet! You bummer-Bulls that think we're going to get hammered are no more realists than the ones that think we're going to cruise to a 10-win season.
By all rights, ND should have lit us up (um, Skippy generation), and they probably would have if it was the next-to-last game. But this is the SECOND game! They'll be far from polished, and we're still going to be full of energy and hopefully full of starters. We have enough speed to keep 'em honest, I think it'll be closer than you think but the coaching is still the biggest wildcard.
