  1. Here's another post we've never heard. QF has good legs and good game management skills, and even has a QB's arm strength. He just doesn't have the polish on that arm to put the ball on the bullseye. I haven't seen a bad decision on his targets, he's just missed them.

    just threw a terrible INT

  2. Never said we needed to abandon the run. I said we need to throw more to be somewhat balanced on offense and make the defense have to guess a tiny bit. I didn't even mention the FSU game in my post so not sure what you're addressing with that one. I left the FSU game off my list simply because that's an unwinnable game in my opinion. I'll bet you'll find the exact scenario in that game too where if you take away the final drive of that game for us we didn't throw enough.

The run heavy approach in the first half of the Memphis game and FSU game obviously worked perfectly. However, when you come out of halftime and the other side makes adjustments you have to do the same. This isn't pee wee football. Did you watch the 2nd half of the Memphis game? Coming out run heavy in the 2nd half of that game I totally understand and it's not crazy. It worked for a half we are in the game don't fix something if it isn't broken, but there has to be a point when it clicks that Memphis made a major adjustment and we aren't moving the ball at all. We are losing. Time to throw a little.

As long as the defenses realize they have absolutely nothing to worry about regarding the pass we will struggle unless we play a far inferior opponent. Competing for a half isn't enough for me. Not anymore.

Completely agree.   1st half against Memphis we looked good pounding it down their throat.  2nd half Memphis adjusted and CWT did not....reoccurring theme, game over.

CWT is delusional to think that will work for us against better teams.

  3. "Taggart reaffirms his confidence in Quinton Flowers. "He's getting comfortable with what we're doing."

Taggart on why receivers aren't getting the ball more: "We're not this team that drops back and throws it to receivers 80 times a game."

#USF's Taggart said in hindsight, he would have thrown the ball more. "Put that on me. I could've did some things better for them."

#USF's Taggart on decision to punt on 4th & short at midfield in 3Q: "There was no second-guessing and we didn't think about going for it."

Has #USF's offense really changed? I feel like it's the same power-run style, only with the addition of poster board with a Denny's sign.

If you trust Quinton Flowers enough to be your starting quarterback, you need to trust him enough to throw the football. #USF
  4. Because he took 2-14 WKU to 7-5 back to back... with WKU-level talent.  He has better players here... better facilities here... better assistants here... so if he could do it at WKU, why can't he do it here?

    This sum's it up....

    2) The plan that he used at Western Kentucky just can't work at USF.

This is a good middle ground between "Taggart just needs more time" and "Taggart can't coach." As we mentioned above, Taggart succeeded at WKU because he was able to bring in local linemen to work with skill players from Florida that were probably a little better than Sun Belt-caliber. The Sun Belt-caliber linemen could adequately block Sun Belt-caliber defensive players, and the skill players could get to work.

This doesn't work at USF, because they need bigger and better offensive linemen to run Taggart's power scheme against Power Five-level defenses like Temple (16th in defensive S&P+) and UCF (34th), and those linemen just aren't widely available in Florida. Taggart's managed to bring in a handful of speedy skill players to USF-- Marlon Mack was a star as a true freshman and leads an exciting stable of backs, and Rodney Adams and Ryeshene Bronson are potentially dynamic receivers-- but the offense hasn't been able to get going at all, because the line has been wholly ineffective.

This isn't to say that Taggart is doomed to fail. He is, after all, switching to a much more personnel-friendly spread offense for this upcoming season, although that might be far too little, too late. But even for all the success he had at WKU, he was never quite able to deliver on the potential of his recruiting classes, and barring a remarkable turnaround under the new scheme, he's headed the same way at USF." *

  5. Completely agree .... This should have been more of a topic of conversation after the game.

Also, have not listened to the game yet but was there an explanation why that wasn't a horse collar on QF at our sideline?

If it's the same replay I'm thinking of the replay showed it wasn't a horse collar but the defender just pulled him down by grabbing the upper middle of his jersey.
