  1. Only took an extra 20 years to get it?

Oh please, what it took was actually building a program and earning your way up. USF is a plastic facade program with a politician for a president and a spin master for a head coach.

And UCF's been building theirs since 1979. USF since 1997. Let's go back, 18 years and see what UCF had built by then.

1996 and UCF was an independent with a 5-6 record and had just moved up from 1aa. Not too impressive. Because at this same stage in development, USF:

    • USF was ranked for the first time exactly 10 years and 10 days after its inaugural game against Kentucky Wesleyan in 1997.[15]
    • USF rose at an unprecedented pace, earning an AP ranking 104 polls after becoming a full-time, bowl eligible FBS member in 2001. Boise State had the previous record, getting ranked after 115 AP polls during their seventh season.[15]
    • USF became the fastest team in the modern era of college football to go from upstart NCAA FBS school to a top-10 ranking on Sunday, Sept. 30. There were 106 AP polls and 112 Coaches Polls since USF became a full-time FBS member in 2001.[15]
    • The same can be said about the top-5 ranking, which took USF 107 weeks to achieve.[15]
UCF's claim to fame at the same point in time? The first football program to play in four different NCAA divisions (III, II, I-AA and I-A).[1]

Their only real claim to fame was Daunte Culpepper until then.

You want to compare development, then how about apples to apples?

Lmao at this post too. How are you going to compare a program that had no funding and that was actually only on equal footing for a few years and was actually SURPASSED in funding and conference by yours. This is splitting hairs just do you can feel better.

If you want to play that game then let's use university establishment date.We are the youngest university to ever win the BCS..see what I did there? What you are doing is just as much apples and oranges.

You guys sound worse than we did 5 years ago...attendance smack next?....GPA?

You're missing his point that programs have their ups and downs...you're actually going to cry that you didn't have budget when in this comparison our coach started out in a freggin trailor!!! Stop...just stop...

Funny....recruiting hasn't picked up much for UCF...

Yes it has. I can tell you lasts years class was our best class ever..tape, offers, etc...i follow 247..beleive we had 3 or 4 four stars. GOL has very good criteria for recruiting and has a very interesting point based system. You are talking about the one of the only , if not the only D1 coach to offer JPP and Kevin Smith out of college...GOL knows how to recruit in his system and fill needs. This year's class will finish strong. We have 2 very good recruits at the most important position 2 years in a row. ESPN 150 qb last year and one that just got bumped to #25 pro style and looks very promising.

I suscribe to 247 you colossal tool...your class is pathetic...anything else you want to spin you crazy son of a *****?

  3.

This what is sad about UCF fans...their coach is garbage...he continually lies, he has been caught cheating in recruiting twice, killed a player, is a racist...but as long as they win he can do no wrong...UCF fans have no room to talk trash...are you serious...calling us scum?  You f'ing nut job get out of here...you have zero room to talk trash as long as that scum bag is your head coach...

Please list the cheating things, in detail about how GOL was involved. I'm sorry for calling you scum, I meant losers.

Sweet Jesus...stop defending this guy...your ad resigned and good ol O'Racist had no involement what so ever?  Go away...you are pathetic...

  5. Im not sure what UCF fans feel their ceiling is from a recruiting stand point...They have George OLeary as their head coach...recruiting is sales...and the most important aspect of sales is the ability to develop strong relationships...and good Ol George is terrible at doing this...the guy can't even look you in the eye for Christ sake!!  I dont think he does it intentionally..but watch any interview...any interview...and the guy is half looking at the ground and half looking at the person he is talking to..what the hell is that about?? is he hiding something?...trust me these kids read this guy like a book...lets play a game and put ourselves in the shoes of an 18 year old kid out of Miami...do think they trust the bull this old white irish guy is feeding them??  Do you think gramps can relate to these kids? At the end of the day...no matter what execuse UCF comes up with their class will only be so good...because the guy is a fraud...So next year the theory is..."its the year after the BCS where the recruting picks up"...what?!?!  Who the hell made up that!  Is that the same guy that came up with the prevent defense or the 90 pitch rule??? its just another excuse..one year its we dont have an OCS...their class sucks...the next year it is we arent in the same conference as USF...class still sucked...the next year is we won the BCS...only lost one game!! why arent the recruits running to us??? UCF fans...its your coach...George lacks the ability to relate to the kids...his assitants can only cover so much for him...eventually the kids have to hear George open his mouth and talk...

  6.

    Nope

I'm not betting you. I don't know you personally and its probably better off that way. You could always wager online if you'd like.

But I do get it. It's the off season and one of the only times during the year where a bulls fan can talk smack since no games are being played. After 2013 is now over, you are feeling really pumped up about your moral victory against UCF where the Knights played their worst game all season as we were looking past you and usf played their best. But you still lost on national TV. It's fine to think you belong amongst the Big Boys. If it's all you have to show then it's okay to prove you are worthy by claiming only a 3 point loss to a top 10 team. We get it. We were and are your Super Bowl.

Hold on a sec Mike...if UCF played their worst game of the year against USF...please explain the following:

    Memphis?

    Temple?

    SMU?

    Were those games better showings?

  7. I understand a lot needs to be cleaned up -- penalties, O-line, personnel, athletes, style of play, etc

But on the assumption that Quinton Flowers will stay committed, and the potential QB competition being wide open for 2014, could this be the difference maker if he's put in as a true freshman? Eveld gone, Floyd an afterthought, Bench and White stunk it up

Any of you who have been following Flowers knows him quite well. Thoughts?

Have you noticed how complicated our offense is...I'm glad he is talented but it will take at least a year to be ready to start...

  8. All these excuses I'm reading are just sad. Ucf has passed us but that happens in college football. Programs rise and fall. We currently stink and they're playing well enough to win games. No excuses, this year, they're a better team than USF.

Yeah that showed last night?...I will state this...in our wort year with a true freshman qb we almost beat them in the best year they have ever had...we will continue to bring in better talent and will be back in no short order...
Holy Spinjobs in here. UCF turned the ball over 5 times and still WON, that shows how good and resilient this UCF team is. This reminds me of your game at Notre Dame a few season ago where they turned it over 4-5 times with a few in the red zone just like UCF last night and you beat them. The overreaction here is just like after your Houston moral victory and looked what happened the next few weeks. Win more than 3 Conference games and then we'll see where USF goes in the future. Emotional Highs then crappy losses is your trend right now
Great teams don't turn the ball over 5 times. Ever.
And we had nothing to do with...you just mastakenly handed the ball to us? Taks a hike buddy...now go check out the talent your briging to your program and who we are bringining in...spin job..jesus...
No spin ,still winning w 5TOs is impressive and look at both Programs records the last 2 seasons

So u are 'recruiting ranking guy 'and the season is not even over yet? Who cares it is December. Stanback has had a huge impact for UCF as a True Freshman and he had only 1 other offer .

Wow...im not...but ill say this only one time...you will have better success then devloping kids that or more talented coming then hoping you find Stanbeck or hoping you find a Bortles that nobody gave a realistic look at qb...you can't sustain a progaram like that..it is December, but do you seriously beleive you think your going to a get a run on a bunch of talented recruits? Yeah they will see the light after the bcs game...unfortunately Oleary is your coach and eighteen year old kids dont want to play for that guy...
Lol at this post. So much irony. I dont care what some third party website that is completely understaffed says about our recruits star ranking. Measurables, character, offer list and will they fit the system and culture. GOL is all business and kids respect him for that. Being a family friend of a 2013 recruit that had both offers I can tell you that you have no idea what you are talking about.
You're so right all of sites are wrong...you have no idea what your talking about...

Again im not saying you dont develop the talent you bring in...but dont you think if bortles was that good coming out of high school he would have suitors coming after him? That is one example...I could go on for days if I wanted to...so your telling me all of the recruiting sites...there are 4 major ones consistently rank you in the back half of college football are all wrong? Your right, its a conspiracy...your brining in elite talent and winni g epic recruting battles against the other schools in the country...

  10. Rivalry games are a terrible way to judge a team.

I'm sure by the same token, Michigan fans weren't impressed with Ohio State's one-point win over their unranked team. That same unimpressive Ohio State team that struggled to put away inferior opponents is most likely headed to the National Championship game.

The same could be said about Oregon's one-point win against unranked Oregon State.

Rivalry games bring out the best in underdogs. Heck, a Top 20 USF team eeked out a win in overtime against a 4-8 UCF team back in 2008.

Agreed if that was UCF's only slip up...however, they eeked out wins against other terrible teams...

10-1...7-0. You crack me uo. Sound like our own fans yearz ago. We came in with a very young team as a midmajor and may go undefeated in the conference. Crazy things happen in rivalry games...just ask alabama.

Yeah Alabama was playing a terrible Aurburn team...they were 4th in the country...if you think it was just dumb luck that UCF just played bad I don't know what to say...ask Memphis how crazy it was that you pulled off that win against them off...I watched that game...it was a mircale that you won...I watched the Temple game as well...come on man...

  13. Phil Steele, as usual, completed an exhaustive analysis and UCF is 26th. So where did 2nd youngest come from?

    http://www.philsteele.com/Blogs/2013/JUN13/DBJune15.html

I'm pretty sure the second youngest being talked about is total roster based on age only... Those two analysis you're referring to deal with experience, not just age.

Just the simple fact that they have bortles and a few of their wr coming back will keep them competitive...bortles leaves the year after next though...

  16. I dont think there will be many beatings in this serious as rival games are usually close no matter what the records. USF was playing for pride and it showed as they almost pulled it off. That 64-12 beat down was something that was fueled by UCF fans. They were calling Ben Moffit's wife at the time all types of terrible things and it got back to the USF players. They used that as motivation to embarrass UCF that day and they succeeded. UCF fans pretty much asked for it that day.

And they stole grothe dad's number...they didn't even realize what they were doing...matt hates them to this day...thanks UCF for reeeaaally pissing Matt off...it was your efforts that allowed the worst loss in your programs history to the school you just can't stand...give yourselves a big pat on the back...

  17. This loss is going to hurt for a while. Kloss's missed FG (that I suspect cost him the Groza, unless voting is already in); White's silly INT; Taggart's questionable 4th down play (I support it); wasted 5 TOs; and blown big plays (kick returns, final TD).

But I submit that this is a recruiting win. Hear me out. Had UCF smoked us as predicted, O'Leary and his staff would be pointing to the gap between our teams with any recruit on the fence between UCF and USF.

As it is, they can't use this game at all. In fact, I'd argue that Taggart & Co would say that we're a few players away from beating the top team in the AAC, and that young players were on the field making a difference (both INTs were by freshmen).

Had UCF drilled us, our main argument would be playing time. Now, we can show that UCF isn't the powerhouse in the league, and that with USF, you can play early, and be a part of the plan to quickly recover dominance over UCF.

If you pay to the recruiting history at school's with major rivals..(i.e. FSU/UF, FSU/Miami, OSU/Michigan, USC/Clemson, etc...), those recruits that have verbaled to one of those schools, rarely change their commitments based off the results of that rivalry game.

About 85%-90% of those that verbal, stick to their initial commitments.

Sometimes those UNCOMMITTED recruits could be influenced by a game result...but in the end, most of your recruiting class is built over 8-12 months...and not after the results of one game.

This is true...but there were a couple of recruits committed to us that were on the fence...Porter and Fullwood come to mind that were at the game on UCF's dime...great to see Fullwood tweeting how be was rooting for us and he loved we are developing as a team...so yes...a strong was actually huge for a few recruits...it is hard for these kids to have faith when your having a season like we have...

  18. All these excuses I'm reading are just sad. Ucf has passed us but that happens in college football. Programs rise and fall. We currently stink and they're playing well enough to win games. No excuses, this year, they're a better team than USF.

  19. Shame on most of your fans though for not showing. I knew this could easily be the game ucf dropped and that the usf team would come to play. Usf has always done that. I wasnt sure if the usf offense eould be better than prior weeks, but I think white is starting to progress. Our defense is young and has injuries, but still held houston to 14. White looked good for his age. He will be good.

And where were your fans? Couldn't find 40K fans for a game against your supposed arch rivals with BCS bowl implications? We had more than that against Kansas years ago for an early season game that didn't matter much.

As I recall, the South Carolina game didn't sell out until a couple of days prior to the game.

I don't think this is a topic you should be crowing about.

    No sh*&*

  20. I know it's mostly sour grapes but the original post is just sad. The AAC berth is a technicality as was the Big East one. You didn't join the conference with Miami and Va Tech.

Your topic is spot on though. We aren't world beaters and have bad some luck. It's been a fun ride though.

You did play Pitt...was the beating so bad you forgot the score?

u are comparing an AAC berth to a Big East berth?

do u honestly believe the AAC is better than the Big East? the AAC has no legitimate championship contenders. the Big East had West Virginia.

    Thi

i'd also much rather play Temple and Memphis as doormats than Pittsburgh and Syracuse. u should know that well, the Knights are 0-1 against Pitt and 0-3 against Cuse.

imagine UCF gets to the Big East in 2005 rather than USF. do u have 10-win seasons? do u beat WVU, Louisville, Cinci in the same season?

congrats on the good season in the AAC. but get high off your own aroma. the Big East the AAC is not.

We would have beaten wvu, pitt and cuse had we played them. Indeed my post went above your head. If you gave ucf bcs tag over the past 10 years then I would wager we would have one the conference. Didnt we beat both defending BE champs. I think your opinion of the OBE is inflated. Better than aac, but not that great. This is such a stupid hypothetical post.

25 Great Reasons To Despise UCF

    By Collin Sherwin  @USFCollin on Nov 27 2013, 9:35a 1

    2. That's a reason to hate GOL? Mike Ditka would agree. I know there is a 'war against Football' with the media but I'm sure a few Bulls fans that have actually been a part of a Football locker room 'get it'. Football is not soccer, at least not yet. He's an old school guy. Using a tragedy as propaganda is a low blow, the exact same thing happened up at FSU years ago and even UF fans don't use that in their arsenal of hate

    4. UCF didn't build an On Campus Stadium to play in the Citrus Bowl. The only programs that UCF may give in for a game there are ones like UF or Notre Dame, not USF Voodoo5 guy

Not 1 player ever put on a UCF Football uniform that was part of the NCAA investigation but good job on sensationalism. There is a reason that UCF won the Bowl Appeal b/c it was a bogus punishment in the first place.

Then why did UCF agree to any of the sanctions good lord man...anything else you want to spin?
UCF agreed to all the Basketball sanctions not all of the Football ones. It's just dumb to throw stones about NCAA stuff, it's a dumb organization and sooner or later USF will have to deal with them. Every Program does
But didnt they reduce the scholarships on the football side of things...if they were free and clear from that aspect...why did they agree to have any sancations regarding football what so ever...if there is clear evidence you didnt do anything you shouldnt be punished...am I correct?

Our gator athletic director..ie athletics ceo made some inappropriate tweets and got david kelly involved.

Basketball side was worse. Ya...our AD was an idiot . We did selfimpose. Good story. What else should we talk about. Football anyone?

I will mark this day in history...this is the closest I have gotten a UCF fan to admit to any wrong doing in any fashion ever :)
