He has convinced me that he is absolutely irreplaceable. This offense will be dramatically less effective without him. The guy has on several occasions made something out of nothing, and carried this offense. Just a pleasure to watch.

I'm watching this game over like 10 times in a row

We have energy issues. i know that sounds silly, but think of it this way... the CJL could get the defense to play with 100% motor all game long. Woody seems to only be getting 95% for 3 quarters and 70% for the 4th. Lucky for us, that's enough to win most games.

The ceiling for the defensive talent we have is high, we're just not executing with nastiness.

Also, side note about the 4-2-5... Tom Allen ran all sorts of whacky exotic blitzes and did alot of presnap stunting. if the offense knows that your players aren't coming up to the line, it opens the run game. gotta keep the offense guessing. We have consistently failed at it this year.

You are correct on both of your points...the 4-2-5 can cause mass confusion for the offense if it's coached correctly...one the same note, it can also be like a practice for the offense if it's coached incorrectly...

I was just thinking about this.  So, last season, we went to the 4-2 defense to stop spread teams and it worked fairly well once everything gelled.  This season, not so much.   Now we have two differences between the seasons; the personnel and the coach.  Since the scheme is the same, it either has to be we don't have the players to run the 4-2 effectively or the coach is calling the wrong plays at the wrong times.  I happen to think it is both.

Back in the Bucs heyday, they ran a 4-3, 2-deep as their base defense and they were phenomenal at it.  They had the personnel to run it and I'm sure they could have handled a spread offense without any problem.

After all of this rambling, my point is, I don't think we have the players to run a 4-2

This is all coaching...the talent drop off isn't that significant from last year...also, players that are still here have had significant drops in production....the coach isn't putting the player in the right positions...he doesn't have the stinger crash the line enough, he consistently has the corners and safeties waaaay to far back...the list goes on and on...that being said...I truly believe that Woodie doesn't believe in the 4-2-5...it's almost like he's trying to play a 4-3 in this  formation...if can make just a few adjustments this d would be far better...

I know its a long shot, but do we have any info on the Nadelman's injury?  Didn't look good on the replay I saw.  Hoping its not a torn ACL or MCL.  Good thing we have 2 weeks to get Behr ready if need be.

    Go Bulls!

We should know more tomorrow in the presser

  6. All of you are making an issue out of this...the writers are at risk of missing the cut off at print time for a late game...in this instance they aren't out to get or just blowing USF off here...Joey and Jeff both had multiple articles up regarding the game, but it was online because it missed print time...same with the FSU game...my paper had nothing about the FSU game in it except a story about a player that had nothing to do with the game

From my seat the Bull's missed tackles, and had several whiffs.

The tackled the best all season....the Navy qb did a about job on pulling it or on the pitch..they tackled the player though...did they miss a couple yes...they had the most technically sound game tackling all season though

Thank goodness the Bulls have the bye week, coaches need to get the defense on track, there were too many missed tackles, arm tackles, and whiffs last night.  Additionally, breakdowns by secondary allowing receivers to get behind the defense, there is a lot of work to be done if they want to win the Conference Championship.

Tackling wasn't the issue last night...tackling was actually pretty sound...the backs and qb were getting decent chunks of yards, but it wasn't due to missed tackles

In my opinion, this is similar to some of the other teams that we've played, just reversed. We caught FSU after an embarrassing loss and they tore us up. Now, Navy is getting us after our loss. I'm actually starting to think the defense may be fired up this game.

And they got punked in the media by the opposing rb from Temple...they will be ready

I assume this was regarding me,  I have not once mentioned ECU's attendance so you are kind of barking up the wrong tree. The ECU fans I've met consider UCF to be one of their greatest rivalries,  so once again I believe you are mistaken. ..or basing your opinion on a small sample size.  It is kind of funny how you blame the small crowds on your conference affiliation when the team you're bashing manages respectable crowds despite playing in the same or lesser conferences.   The AAC is a good conference by the way and it's one you should embrace.   Its lame to deride a fan base thats more supportive of a team that frankly works with a lot less than you've been afforded.  Your attendance issues are self-inflicted,  not due to the conference you're in.

I'll  never forget a few years ago...UCF  was being nasty as usual to the opposing team which that week was ECU....ECU proceeded to beat dat ass....and of course came back to dish it on the UCF rivals board...the weak ass clown that runs the their board actually shut it down because they couldn't take it after being nasty little sh/=s to ECU...ECU fans have actually been really cool from what I have experienced

Does anyone get the sense that Shaun King's tutelage has improved QF's performance? Not sure I do.

Seems like pretty much the same player we had last year. I guess I was hoping for more improvement at the QB position.

Don't misunderstand - we seem to be doing pretty well with him as is - just thought his passing might have improved.

I have been discussing this with a lot of people...i think he is sitting in the pocket more which isn't necessarily a good thing...it seems like he was running less until later in Saturday's game...he needs to pull it and run more imo

Not a valid comparison.  Banks was just not good.

A better comparison is the way we had to run the offense with Julmiste, who was similarly "inconsistent" throwing the ball.  Main difference is that Julmiste was a big guy that could run, but he didn't have near the overall speed or athleticism that Flowers has.

Compare Julmiste best season with Flowers season last year...they don't compare either...flowers can run and is elusive...Julmiste wasn't...he is far better then both of them
