  1. I know they haven't done it with the Sun Dome because USF doesn't own it, but another factor to consider in helping to pay off any financing of an OCS is that we could easily sell naming rights for a couple of million a year.  Throw in the ability to rent it out to the FHSAA for high school games, playoffs, state championships too.

Since you brought up UF, how much debt do you think they have on the Swamp?  How much debt would we have with our own OCS?  I assure you it would be a hell of a lot more than UF.

They probablly pay a fraction in upkeep of the Swamp, as we do in rental fees and lost revenue to the TSA to play in Rutgers Stadium.

Also we are leasing space at Ray Jay vs buying something outright, paying it off, and owning it.

Sure, all we need is $200 M to $300 M and we can build an OCS and own it outright.  I we can earn an extra $2M per year by owning our own stadium, it'll only take us 100+ years worth of profits for it to pay for itself!

Your math is off, he said that make about 2 million per GAME, not per season.

6 sometimes 7 home games a year is an additional 12 to 14 million a year.

I also think the point of the OP was that we probably don't even make 2 million a year from Ray Jay revenue.

  3. I was like a kid going to bed on Christmas Eve last night.....I couldn't wait to get to sleep so this day would get here quicker! It has been a long off season and it's finally time to watch some USF BULLS FOOTBALL!!! I can't wait to get to Ray Jay, smell the food on the grills, drink some beer and catch up with all my seat mates before The CWT express bus rolls over McNeese State!

  4. I only see ESPN3 listed.  Will it be picked up anywhere else?  This is my first USF season without having Bright House (I have FiOS)

Living in Tampa and being a season ticket holder, I will be in my seats.  I have FIOS and I remember the game at Ball State was on CH. 96 (unfortunately no HD option)

Not sure if it will be picked up by that station or not, I think its a CBS owned channel.

I'm not too sure if it's still the case or not, but a few seasons ago, I couldn't make it to a game.  I tried to catch the 2nd half on ESPN3, but the game was blacked out in my area according to the ESPN3 site.  I'm not sure if they black out games that aren't sell outs in the local area, like the NFL does.

  5. Okay,

It's the morning after, well, one week from now it will be.

How are we feeling?  Are we 1-0 or 0-1?

If we are 0 - 1 after next Saturday, my season tickets will be for sale for real cheap.

I'm not expecting CWT to turn us into a BCS bowl caliber team this year, but I think we will be bowl eligible at the end of the year.

As horrible as our last coaching staff was, we have too much talent to loose to McNeese State.

  6. Pumped! It has been a long off season. I am excited to see what we can do on the field and get a better opportunity to evaluate our team.

Can't agree more, it feels like the off season has been abnormally long this year!!

I went out to the open practice during the spring, but nothing compares to seeing them play games!

    GREEN!!

  7. OP doesn't take into account how woeful our pass rush was last year.

Pressure on the QB was nonexistent last year.  Pork chop only got pub because of his stupid nickname. . . . . . he was a major nonfactor, bordering on liability in the middle.  For reasons unknown, Giddens mailed it in too.

Not saying it will be good this year, but our defense was terrible last year.  It was so bad, our defense got better when Cosh and Holtz simply hit the bricks.

Giddens injured his shoulder in the 1st game of the season last year, to the point that it required surgery.  He tried to play through the pain, not so well in my opinion, and then had the procedure done during the off season.  I'm hoping for him to have a solid 7 sack and double digit tackle for loss season now that he's healthy.

  8.

    Screw our academic committee

I'm told that #Rutgers freshman WR Janarion Grant is "one of the most explosive players ever to come to Rutgers". Will play from game 1.

I think most would consider Rutgers a better school academically than USF.  Don't blame the academic committee, he didn't even get a chance to face them, the kid liked Rutgers and decided it was the best place for him.

  9. I haven't read too many posts on this thread - kind of just skimmed. But if y'all think USF pulled his scholly because he went to a football camp, you're crazy. Absolutely crazy.

There will be several USF commits that are planning on taking there 5 OV's - and they're not going to get their scholly's pulled lol

I couldn't agree with you more, Mike! Many years ago I was being recruited by D2 schools, so I have a better idea of how the recruiting process works than most. I opted to go to USF with my child hood best friend and we had the time of our lives. Trust me on this, schools don't pull offers because a kid takes a visit or goes to a camp at another school. First off, in the social media crazed world we live in, there would have been at tweet or Facebook post about it. Secondly, I bleed green and cold, but USF is not at a level of success and power within the football world to pull offers from kids as a "threat or punishment" for visiting other places. If we were Alabama I could see a tatic like that might work, but they don't even need to do that. Just face the facts he's a 17 or 18 year old kid that made a choice and he's having second thoughts. It's obvious that not too many kids today understand the definition of the word "commitment"

  10. He decommited because he got busted going to UF w/o talking to the coaches about it. Then tweeted that he was decommitted before they could pull his offer. I am certain, that they are done with his shenanigans.

How do you know this? Schools don't pull offers because a kid goes to another school for a camp or an official visit. Chase's commitment, I use that word loosely, isnt set in stone to the point that CWT and his staff cannot comment on recruits/commitments until they have signed with USF per NCAA rules. Also, if you have proof that CWT and his staff were going to do that, please share. They aren't going to be very successful by pulling offers every time a kid visits another school. I think you're just throwing s#*t against the wall to see if it sticks.

  11.

Derrick Calloway, holy cow (literally)! He's 6'2" and 328 lbs.

Deadrin Senat has to lose some at 6'1" and 318 lbs.

I deleted all the other guys info, since it wasn't needed.  I was just curious why Senat has some to lose at 318, but Calloway at 328 doesn't??

I'm far from a football expert and all of your analysis and thoughts on players film have been pretty **** impressive so far.  Just curious

  12.

How do you guys know that these recievers have been put "ON HOLD" as you call it???

Clervaux was going to commit last week then started bashing USF "can't believe they did me like that"(paraphrasing).

Ellison was going to commit 2 weeks ago and came out and said he was going to focus on his academics in order to be a Bull.

Sounds like being put on hold to NE

Thanks!! I knew about Clervaux not being able to commit and being upset about it, but I hadn't heard about the others.

  13. Life after relegation.

I can understand ND getting their own blog, but Stanford? Really?

    http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation

    ACC

    Big 12

    Big Ten

    Pac-12

    SEC

    Notre Dame .

    Stanford

Last I checked Stanford is in the Pac-12, why do they need another blog just for them?

Did another round of conference realignment happen and I miss it?

  14. I honestly can't remember which radio station it was, but I'm pretty sure it was 98.7.

Coach Taggart told the guy and now I'm quoting loosely "I don't put too much into star rankings, I want guys that want to come to USF, play our style of football and do what we ask of them on and off the field."

"Our jobs, as coaches, is to take a these so called 2 or 3 star recruits and turn them into a 5 star caliber player"

Bullwinkle, I know that you're concerned because the recruits, in this case Deatrick Nichols, do care about their rankings.

If you look at the offfer list this guy has, it's impressive, I think he knows as well as other coaches that he's better than the no ranking he has on which ever site or sites you're upset about.

As far as the theroy, that they intentionally rank our guys lower to keep us out of a Top 30 or even higher class, how does that benefit the recruiting site or sites?

The last few years of Bobby Bowden, FSU had Top 10 if not Top 5 recruiting classes.  How did that turn out? They ran the man that put that program on the map straight out of town!

I think we can agree that Standford has been pretty succesful over the past 4 or 5 seasons and not one of those seasons did they have a Top 10 or even Top 20 recruiting class.

Why do they have a vendetta against USF, do they do this to other schools not in the "Power 5"??

  15. 2015, So thay was his sophomore year highlights????  That was an impressive highlight tape for a 15 or 16 year old (I turned 16 during my sophomore year)  He would be a game changer for sure.  Just imagine if he was able to line up opposite of D'Vario Montgomery.  They could be USF's version of the Twin Towers, like Tim Duncan and David Robinson.  I know completely different sport, but that would be one hell of a duo to have!

  16. Maybe it helps keep him low on the radar with his name not being plastered all over ESPN and the Elite 11 brand anymore. Less competition is good for us. We know his skill level. Let's hope others don't realize it as much

College coaches don't need a player's name to be on ESPN and Elite 11 rosters to know about them and their abilities.

Does it help a player if his name is all over the media? Of course, but trust me, they know about players without them getting media publicity.

College sports is a BIG TIME money maker for schools and coaches and assistants are paid quite nicely to find the best players.

  17.

Wouldn't the VERY public chasing of multiple QB transfers be just as offensive to Floyd? And spare me the "CWT didn't publicly do anything" spiel. Anyone remotely interested in college football knew we were less than pleased with our current options and looking for an upgrade.

Who cares, he should have learned how to take a snap. This is a business not a charity.

    I couldn't agree more NewEnglandBull!!!!

You can't be a succesful QB at ANY level of the sport if you can't take a snap from under center.

    He has 3 options IMO:

    1) learn how to take a snap from under center

    2) ride the pine and enjoy the free education

    3) transfer to a school that doesn't require under center snaps (good luck with that tho)

  18. I go to the gator boards frequently and they say they aren't bringing in any more qb's this class. Once Grier gets on campus they will have 5 schollie qb's

I highly doubt that UF wouldn't offer this guy, even with 5 QBs on the roster.  I've never seen Chase play, but from everything I've read his the best QB prospect in the Tampa area by FAR, maybe ckparrothead could let me know if I'm right or even close to be right on that statement.  I'm willing to bet that UF at least gauges his interest, plus it would be real easy for them to let one of the current QBs know that the chances of them seeing the field are slim to none and slim just left town, just like Steven Bench (possible PSU transfer QB) was told by the PSU staff.  There are plenty of guys that go to school to play a certain position and they end up at another, be it for a better shot a playing time or just team needs.
