  1. It should be against TBP rules to post articles from the Orlando Slantinel, I mean Sentinel....

A DB flip from Vandy and OL flip from Bama = A+

We signed double the number of 4 star players (USF = 6 UCF = 3) and 11 more players overall.

ESPN ranked them at 52 and we are at 40. I thought they would have done better than that after the season they just had.

We had a Top 40 class after a 2-10 season, I can only imagine how good CWT and crew would have done coming off a BCS Bowl victory and a Top 10 ranking!

  2. Not 100% positive what happened against UH, but our running game was not there. Things will be different for M. White from here on out. D.C. will start game planning for him, find small faults or tendencies, bring the house etc. If the run game can be established, TOP will go a long way in helping our D and should help out our Freshman QB. I think this is the key to winning several of our next games.

First off let me say, I'm no expert.  UH was stacking the box with 7 to 8 guys and sometimes the safeties dropped down so much there was as many as 9 guys in the box daring USF to pass, it was clear to me that their game plan was to stop the run and force us to pass.  With only 5 OL and a TE (some formations 2 TE or a TE and a FB) to block, UH had the advantage of unblocked players.  Real easy to stop a running game when there is no one to block you.  The only difference is that Matt White is a better QB than the other 3 that have started this year.  After he started completing pass and moving the chains they backed off and the running game opened a little bit, but I agree it was no where near what it had been in previous games.

The USF secondary is young and adapting to the new style of defense that Bresnahan  and Cooper are deploying. Offenses are supplementing running with shorter passes which keep LBs, DEs and Ss at bay.

Perhaps at Corner, but we have two Sr. Safeties.

And Mark Joyce is terrible so...

I couldn't agree more.  That guy never wraps up, he's always looking for the "highlight real" hit.  I'm not trying to turn blast him because he's not the only one on the D, but it's a big problem when the guy who is literally your last line of defense can't make a tackle.  There have been WAY too many missed tackles by USF this year, including special teams.  I don't know how many of you watched the UM v FSU game this weekend.  FSU is a better team, without a doubt, but their D can flat out tackle way better than any team I have seen play.  Miami missed too many tackles (not the only reason they lost) and it showed on the scoreboard.

So I am going out on a limb here but we all agree it was worth burning his redshirt ?

After last night's game from White, I'm just wondering why it took them so long to decide to burn it........

LOL - many people on this board and the broadcasters from last nights game predicted there would be people like you.   :)

Obviously, I'm not a football coach.  I'm not out there everyday at practice and in the film rooms to see what's going on, but if he had shown any glimpse of comprehension of the offense and making plays in practice, I would have played him earlier.  Our other 3 options did NOTHING offensively to help our team.  While they were playing Shaw was our entire offense and we see how badly they missed him after he went down with the injury.  I do understand CWT's desire to redshirt White, tho

  5. He has some leadership of the team that you don't see usually from a true freshman. That was the first time all year we looked like a offense.

Get this kid some more playmakers on both sides of the ball and we will have a pretty dangerous team in a few years.

I completely agree, let's just hope our fan base and big time donors don't call for CWT's job before he has time to rid our program of the Holtz New Error smell.

That's probably going to be more difficult to get rid of than the MRSA outbreak over at One Buc Place

I know it wasn't a game between to ranked teams, but neither was the night cap game afterwards (ASU v WSU) that has a post game write-up.

However, it was on their NETWORK for crying out loud.    Why is there no post game write-up from them?

If I was Aresco, I would be all over them, far and away disrespecting the conference from the TV contract to the lack of even decent media coverage.

Houston is going to be in the mix for the AAC title and a BCS Bowl bid and ESPN doesn't even acknowledge the game was played on their NETWORK.

OK I will get off my soap box, I know I'm preaching to the choir!

  7. This might already have a thread about it and might not even be the right location on TBP to start a thread about it; Mods move to where you see fit.

I have Verizon Fios and saw this documentary, about if college athletes should be paid or not, on TV the other night.

Very good and definitely worth watching.  It should be available through “On Demand†if you have the Epix movie channel in your subscription.

You can find a little more out about it at the following link:

  8. Watching the post game interview Coach T was deflecting criticism of Eveld, such as "that wasn't Bobby" etc. I am pretty sure Eveld was playing a little hurt this past Sat. against Uconn. Right before the Uconn game I believe I saw him limping a bit and he was definitely hurt at the end of the Cinci game with all those shots he took. Eveld is no runner but against Cinci he was making some plays with his feet. Coach T mentioned Eveld was focused on the rush against Uconn and missing open players, I think this further supports my suspicions that he was not 100% and therefore was not seeing the field as well as he normally does. I mean he's no butterfly but he look less graceful then usual ;)

I bring this up b/c during the game I was calling for White at the half but the fact that Eveld came back out makes me think that White is not ready. Its idiotic to think its b/c they don't want to burn his redshirt. They will put in whoever gives them the best change to win. I mean I am sure Taggart was looking at Uconn's frosh and was thinking I sure would like to have him over here slinging the roc. The fact that Eveld was out there playing at <100% means that White's not ready. Whether he need's to learn the plays, needs to put on some weight, whatever he's just not ready. The only way you see him go is if both Bench and Eveld go down...just my two cents.

The one thing that will hurt us going forward is if we have to play from behind more than one score and we need to pass more.  It seems to me that our QBs (all 3 that have played) have a hard time reading coverage.  Countless times I have seen them not noticing a blitz coming and looking for your check down or even, dare I say, audible!

  9. There are more issues on Offense than just the horrible play of Eveld.  The offensive line cannot pass block.  Add in the fact that receivers like Davis give up on routes and drop passes in their hands.  Yeah, that results in a horrendous offense overall.

Not defending Eveld here, but, the line is not giving him time and the receivers are not helping him out.

One thing I did see that I liked from Eveld, and it was the only thing.  Outside of the pocket with no receivers open, throw ball away out of bounds.  He did this a couple of times.  Better to get rid of it than causing a sack or a possible pick trying to make something happen.

On the running game, I was happy to see Tice get in there.  Out of the recruits from this past off season, that was one I wanted to see how he would do.  Had some nice runs as well.  Good solid back up for Shaw and has a good possible future ahead of him.

Spot on, Kahoki!  It's hard to complete passes when you don't have time to throw and when you do get time, the WR drops the ball or gave up on the route.  Tice looked good in there on Saturday and so did Willie "I will carry your whole team on my back" Davis!!  I would like to see more of those 2 going forward when Shaw needs a break or in certain situations.

  10. I don't know, I do agree that McFarland's play has been HUGE reasons why we have won the past 2 games.

But as a former LB, I have to go with my boy DeDe Lattimore.  He has been a tackling machine this year, in the right place all the time.

Yeah his dropped INT that would have sealed the win for us on Saturday hurt, but that's why he's playing LB and not WR.

  11. Wouldn't be surprised to see a double reverse to hopkins. This is probably a game where we see 40+ run plays to grind it out and keep Teddy off the field.

I totally agree we need to snap the ball with as little time as possible left on the play clock and just pound the ball all day long.  Eat up the clock and keep Teddy and company on the sidelines.  I just hope that Coach Chucky B doesn't decide to rush 3 down linemen and drop 8 into coverage like he did in the first half against UConn.  If UConn's receivers could catch and their QB was a little more accurate we would have lost on Saturday.  Plenty of drops and complete over or under throws to WIDE OPEN receivers, Teddy Bridgewater will light us up if he tries that garbage.  I was disappointed that Coach Chucky B didn't use lots of pre-snap movement and exotic blitzes against a true freshman QB making his 1st career start to create some confusion!.

  12. First off, this will probably be merged with another thread, but I'm going to start a new one to say my piece.

I would most definitely be looking to sign with USF. You don't even have to be good to beat the QBs we have on our roster for the starting job. They can't read coverages, they don't notice the pressure/blitzes when the defense is obviously showing it pre snap and they don't even understand that on obvious passing downs that there will be pressure and the defense will be in pass rush mode. I know I can't put it all on the QB, the offensive line has looked piss poor in pass protection. Yes, I know some of this goes back to maybe they aren't being coached properly, but CWT and crew can't play for them all they can do is coach them, it's still up to the players to execute!! I one we were in for trouble after what we saw at the end of the year when BJ got injured, but I have seen no signs of improvement from Eveld or Floyd. Bench was really not that impressive either, there were flashes, but overall not good!.
