  2.

Seemed to come out of nowhere.  The previous coach was relieved on Monday, and the new coach announced on Friday.

After just 17 months on the job, USF Athletic Director Mark Harlan announced on Monday afternoon that Tiffany Prats will no longer serve as head coach of the Bulls women’s golf program.

    Harlan, per a school release:

“We wish Tiffany the best in her future endeavors and are actively engaged in identifying an excellent leader for our women’s golf program. This is an amazing institution and a great program, and I am confident we will find a terrific coach to lead these young women.”

Prats was named head coach at USF in July 2016 and the news of her departure seems untimely as the Bulls spring season is scheduled to begin January 29.

  3. This will add nicely to the rivalry.

RANDY SHANNON FIRED AFTER HURRICANES LOSE TO USF

    AP Sports Writer

CORAL GABLES — His voice nearly cracking, University of Miami Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt somberly laid out some of the many reasons why Randy Shannon was right for the Hurricanes.

The academic success. Improved recruiting classes. His decades as part of the Miami family.

Then there were 22 reasons that Hocutt couldn’t ignore: the games Miami lost under Shannon. In the end, those carried more weight than anything else.

A coach who left an indelible mark on Miami’s past will not be part of its future and the Hurricanes started the process of moving on Sunday, with former offensive line coach
Jeff Stoutland taking over on an interim basis and players gathering for a tearful meeting.

“Change is difficult and change is hard,” Hocutt said Sunday. “But change, sometimes, it’s necessary. And, this time, this change was necessary”

I find it interesting the way Coach Jim Leavitt has rebranded his image. After Colorado and now OU, he has become this Defensive Guru who is known as Mr. Pepsi. Fun loving west coaster.

When in Tampa, we all knew he could provide excellent defense but constantly he had negative media and was viewed as some megalomaniac. People loved to make fun of him before and now it seems like the media mostly praises him.

I Wonder if Oregon will let their Florida players he brought with him transfer to FSU. I'm pretty sure they would NOT like to release them to FSU, but I'm not sure if they can prevent it.

Similarly, they must be pissed about the current recruits that were recruited on Oregon's dime that Taggart will probably try to steal to FSU.

Oregon not thrilled about Willie Taggart being out recruiting on its dime while entertaining his next job. His support eroding, as I wrote here:
  6. Report: Kevin Sumlin is the top candidate for UCF job, could be named coach today

Last Sunday, Kevin Sumlin was fired from Texas A&M. This Sunday, he could reportedly be introduced as the next coach at UCF.

According to a report from Ryan Bass of 247Sports, Sumlin has been the top candidate to replace Scott Frost for a while, as it had been a forgone conclusion that he would leave for the Nebraska job, which he officially did after UCF beat Memphis to win the AAC Championship.

And according to Bass, the decision from UCF could come down today.
