I liked the CBS announcers. Enthusiastic and lots of references to players' home towns. Most of all no conference bashing.
-
He threw a corner or a sefty off of him at the end of his first run. That was pretty cool.
-
The fumbled punt is entirely unacceptable. That completely shifted the flow of the game. Lucky Barrington bailed him out on the goal line.
-
Eatmon and Popek especially were putting d linemen on the ground.
O=line played much better.
D-line on the other hand, I don't think touched Verdejo until DeDe planted him on the final series. They got some pressure, but Verdejo is quick and slid in the pocket magnificently.
You mean Fajardo? I think thats a result of Nevada only dropping back maybe 10% of the time. The rest of the time was bunch of smoke and mirrors which led to a lot of chasing by our D. Then they rammed it right up the winded gut of the D which really hurt when Watson went down. Great game plan by them. But, once they were forced to play in the pocket, our pass rush was there. I'm not too concerned. the fact they were able to hold it together in the 4th speaks volumes to their toughness and conditioning.

Live by the big play die by the big play. We won't hit 3 - 50+ yard TD passes against anyone in our conference.
Disagree. We have at least three guys that are more than capable of getting behind any defense in our conference and BJ certainly has the arm.

Refreshing to have a true reciever instead of just an athlete.

There's really no "good" option to kick to if you're Nevada.

Reading this reminds me of that Nole fan that was on here in '09 with his fool-proof average OL weight analysis and the win he guaranteed based on those numbers. This guy is looking too deep into this.
LOL did you seriously read that?
Sounds computer-generated ... maybe their engineering department created a robot that spat out the statistics and arranged it into the analysis at the link. The conclusion definitely doesn't sound like it was written by a human ...
I skimmed it. Apparently BJD threw 7 INTs last year with no TDs to his credit.
Starting QB: B.J. Daniels (6-0, 217, Sr.) [Last Season] 11 games played; 215 total completions out of 365 total passing attempts (58.9% completions); 7 total interceptions out of 365 total passing attempts (1.9% interceptions); 1.2 touchdown passes pgp; and 235.0 passing yards pgp -
Front 7 assignment discipline on D. BJ will run wild.

People still watch ESPN?

1) I'll be out on a boat on a big lake up here all morning and early afternoon with my fam and some friends. Will probably either watch the game at home via live stream or go to an alumni watch party.
2) Yes, planning on going to the Miami game.
3) Agree with Bullphin, can't tell based on that one game.
4) Favorite memory is rushing on the field after beating Louisville in 2003 and celebrating with the players
5)Tamplona of course.
You're agreeing with me way too much these days.

- At home with my 2 year old working on the horns and "go bulls" (comes out as "bo-buws" with three fingers sticking up)
- No
- Can't tell. Too many questions from the first game. Need more information, but I really like what I saw from the defense.
- Signing up for a credit card @ Ray Jay with a fictitous name and SSN to get a free green robo bull T-shirt, andre hall running for 200+ on Rutgers' punk asses

We are 4 deep at DT this year with quality players. I think we will see a change in that pattern.
-
I think Nevada may find it incredibly difficult to run on our D. We're stout up the middle and quick on the ends. Over agressiveness may be one thing they could exploit with draws, delayed hand-offs and counter runs. Discipline will be key.
-
Throw it.... The kid can stroke it down the field and our 4.3 wrs can run under it
How many of your receivers run in the 4.3/4.4 range? That kind of speed could pose a significant problem for Nevada who has an experienced but not overly fast secondary.
We have a legit 4X100 relay team playing for our football team. 3 recievers (Grifin, Mitchell, Hopkins) and one DB (Webster) all run/ran track. Dunkley (another WR) is also up there, as is Lamar (a RB).

This game scares the crap out of me. I just have an odd feeling about this game, but I still think we pull this one out by 3 or 7 points. BJ is still, as a 5th year senior, too inconsistent. Thought he would have developed by now.
17/26 with 3 TDs through the air... seems pretty consistent to me.
No reason for his two turnovers against a 1-AA team.
Do you also take issue with his 20 yard TD run? The man accounted for 4 TDs and threw some excellent deep balls (even threw in a pump fake on one of them). BJ's consistency is not the isssue with the ofense.
-
i just love our LB core for this matchup. Lattimore and Barrington will be able to neutralize any type of QB run game they have.
The Pistol offense puts a ton of pressure on outside linebackers and d-ends. Preparing for the Nevada offense in one week is next to impossible so I would suspect Skip worked in some Nevada stuff during fall camp. But if he didn't, it could be a very challenging matchup for USF despite having a speed advantage.
USF's best defnsive players are OLB and DEs

BJ cannot throw the deep ball consistently... so we can take that off the table... he might hit a couple... but he'll miss enough to make the coaching staff go away from it.
Now for them putting the ball on the ground... that totally plays into the Defense's strengths.
The deep ball is probably his best throw. He has had trouble with slants and short stuff that requires touch. BJ Daniels is at his best when 1) he's running in the open field and 2) throwing the ball deep.
-
Surprised nobody is talking about the deep pass to Griffin 5 minutes in. That was perfectly executed by the OL, Griffin, and especially Daniels. Sick pump fake to the right, turns and fires to the left right on the money.. Excellent pass. Good to see BJ and Griffin on the same page again, because they were way off last year on the deep routes.
Great point. Its hard to get past the negatives sometimes.
