Good: Successful execution of more than 1 fast break. The break that almost was where Brock was all over the floor getting after the ball would have made a highlight reel for sure. Rudd was just past half court and had a couple steps on everyone.

Pretty good analysis right there Outrunner. Not much to add to it other than I would love to see Fitzpatrick make a freaking lay up on occasion. Think he was about 1 for 7 right under the basket.
Is Musa Abdul - Aleem (sp?) supposed to be a scoring threat? He didn't seem to be hitting shots in warm up and that carried over to the game. Maybe it was just one of those night.
I think Abdul-Aleem really ignited the offense mid way through the second that put the Penguins away for good. He moves well with and without the ball and there wasn't as much standing around when he was on the floor. As long as he is healthy, Noriega should never see the floor again outside of garbage time.
I think what was clearly lacking was offense coming from the low post. Kore White showed he is capable at times, but we need much more than what he's got come big east play.

When the **** hits the fan, use the buddy system. Moves in realignment appear to happen in pairs so hold your nose and grab your partner with your other hand.
Seriously the USF UCF pair is quite a team. What are we selling?
TV market size
Enrollment #s
Recruiting territory
it's just hard to accept the mind fvck that is their success is tied to ours in every game that doesn't involve us.
This.
This potential rivalry is the best thing we have going for us right now. It gets butts in seats and draws from two decent TV markets. Maybe if Coach T can put a better product on the field, then we can start to distance ourselves from this relationship, but lets face it: the USF product has never been that good, and has absolutely sucked ass the past 2 years. Relatively small fan base and annual disappointing results on the field and we wonder why no suitor has come calling to save us from ceertain irrelevance? Go ahead and crucify me, but with the exception of '07, we were never really that much better than UCF, especially from an outsider's perspective.
We need to focus on re-building with what we have in front of us, not what we wish we had.

True for all Florida teams. Attendance sucks, but note that the Jets are also in the bottom half and are sure to take a tumble if they don't piss on that dumpster fire soon.

Jets are in a death spiral and even Fireman Ed is saying **** this.

I'm not mad about losing. I'm furoius about the lack of willingness to compete and utter incompetence displayed by this coaching staff. Not taking a timeout in that spot is completely inexcusable especially since it puts your team right back in a game they weren't in for most of 2 quarters.
**** Skip's bull ****. I'm done with him and have been for a few weeks now.

How original

No Gene Chizik?
-
I'd take USF to cover the spread if the game was 3 quarters.

Kinda makes you miss the days of getting gashed up the middle for 300 yards a game.

A couple of weeks ago on the "Gary and the Commish Show" Gary Shelton asked Justin and Greg Auman this question : Since Holtz has been here, which player has gotten better? I couldn't think of anyone
It was only a few years ago we had a kid on the Butkus Award watch list...when they interviewed his high school football coach, his coach said something to the effect of "They took a kid that was a backup for our high school and made him a Butkus Award candidate.
My my how times have changed...
Do you remember who the player was?
VASSAY MARC: Linebacker, 6-2, 230
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Named to the Butkus Award "watch list" in the preseason and was considered an NFL prospect until a season-ending neck injury. ... Was on his way to his best season, with 33 tackles (five for a loss), three forced fumbles and 1.5 sacks in five games. ... Had 79 tackles in 1998, including six for a loss (two sacks).
NOTABLE: His 2000 season was cut short because of a herniated disc in his neck. He has not played since Sept. 30 against Troy State. ... May still be able to participate in NFL combines this winter and spring. ... Earned a college scholarship despite playing only special teams at Miami Northwestern High.
QUOTABLE: "Me not playing, it hurts me so much because ... I helped start this. It brings tears to my eyes knowing I won't be able to (play). I'm going to come out with the team, but it's not going to be the same."
You don't have to go that far back. Stephen Nicholas (3 time nominee) and Ben Moffitt were on the watch list:

I think Kawika Mitchell made it pretty far in the process as well and went way past the pre season watch list.

Coaching staff needs to go. They aren't learning from their mistakes. They can't manage a game. They haven't developed as coaches and the team has regressed. How can you lose in the same fashion week after week and not have learned anything by now? How close we've been in every game the last two years but lost every single time shows a lack of coaching ability.
Not even so much ability as just simple awareness...3min left, you have the lead and your opponet has 3 TO's play 'em tight! Not zone deep! All staff should go but no excuse to not fire Cosh at this point
Exactly. Soft zone every time the game is on the line. But hey, at least Cosh was rushing 4 this time instead of just 3.
Defense 101: when your opponent needs to go 75 yards in a hurry, don't give them the time to do it. We have some reallly good proven blitzers in the defensive backfield. Lejiste used to make big plays when he was brought in on blitzes. Jenkins, Joyce and Cliett are potential speedy pash rushers. Is it that our corner opposite Webster is just not good enough to leave in man coverage?
-
At least we didnt lose this week
-
Why on earth did you think anything would happen?
Some were expected Saban and staff to leave 'Bama and take over the USF program during the Bye week.
Come on, man, even our most delusional fans aren't that delusional .... it was Spurrier coming back to Tampa.
So I take it Bear Bryant would be grasping at straws?
-
Does Josh Heath count as a local kid?
-
Mims has been having a great year at DE.

Agreed. Put t-rex back at corner... it has been a glaring weakness opposite Webster. He may even be better than Baker even though he hasn't played the position in a coupe years. Welch and the TEs are definitely under utilized.
-
I say put in Bivins or Durden and let them learn on the fly next to Webster. Nothing to lose now. Also, put LeJiste back in at strong safety, Joyce has looked sloppy. Move Popek back to left tackle and run that way. he is not a guard and he can move.
-
What the **** is this?
A soft zone on third and long
With weak three man rush
-
Not to be a downer since basketball is something to look forward to, but matching last year's success will be difficult. Losing a lot on the front line.
There's a lot of talent coming in on the font line to fill the void. Granted, it's not proven talent yet.
-
Brilliant move by Cosh rushing 3 and playing a soft ass zone when they need to throw the ball at least 50 yards. This team is blatantly horribly coached on defense.
-
USF probably won't face a defense anything like Florida State's again until it hosts Connecticut next month...
Say what?
-
Don't kid yourselves, if FSU was in the SEC they wouldn't even be in the BCS discussion.
If FSU was in the SEC they would definitely be in the BCS discussion and the SEC would have 12 teams in the top AP top five instead of the 11 they have now.
-
the one turnover we caused was by special teams too......
We should have gotten that one fumble. Can't believe we didn't.
haven't seen replay yet but seemed like we hesitated to jump on it
Nope. We did recover the fumble. But one of FSU's lineman jumped on Leijiste ( I think it was ) and was able to pull the ball from him before the officials got the pile unraveled. Leijiste clearly recovered, but he couldn't pull it all the way to his chest before the big guy pounced on him. Yet another Big East replay official fail.
That was J. Jenkins

Found this out wfrom the cable guy while he was fixing my cable line that my neighbor severed while "fixing" his water line. Meanwhile my 2 year old is demanding to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates and does not understand we do not have cable. It was the bright spot of my afternoon.
Looking ahead in mens hoops

Looking at tickets right now. Anyone know the USF section(s). I don't want to be surrounded.
