  1. For whoever asked, yes, I believe student gov. is organizing a bus trip for the game. I think it was a rediculous deal, like $10-$20 for a ride and a game ticket. For the first time since the programs's start, FAU is finally working with the team and getting involved getting people to the games. We had little to no school support prior to this. I hope we travel good to this game, but I couldn't hazard a guess as to how well. The student body seem pretty excited about the team, but we haven't had a home game yet so its hard to judge. If we are ever going to beat you guys, this would be the year, although I still see this game easily going to either team. I have a lot of USF alumni friends and family and have been going to bulls games for quite a few years now. It was hard for me to watch the decline of the team and I know how it feels. We are supposedly in our "rebuilding" phase as well after going 1-11 2 years ago. I really have yet to see any improvement from last year to this year, but its still early. This year will be tough for you guys, as well as possibly next year but hang in there. There will be a lot of negativity, calls for firings, people jumping ship, but the real fans will stay. Supporting your school is like an addiction sometimes, when it is bad and you know you should stop you just can't. Good Luck..............starting next week of course. In the meantime I'll be taking advantage of the stadium's miller lite offerings.
  2. I believe the knight is confused, we most definetly based our program off of yours, but the architect of FAU football, Schnellenberger was the man responsible for UM's success way back when. As a side note, we modeled our stadium after UCF's, with some modification. For my prediction, I'll say FAU over USF, 9-6. (Honestly I think this game is 50/50 and could go either way easily). As for players to watch: Willie Dukes is probably our best reciever, although he was quiet last week. Our run game has not been all that impressive other than a couple of breakaways by our QB's. I think we have some talented runningbacks in Jackson and Wallace, but they have not yet had a chance to show it. The defense is our strong suit and I've been really happy with their play. I can't name any standouts off the top of my head now, but the unit as a whole is solid. Supposedly we are planning on playing each QB for a half, but who knows. Our OC says they are looking to open up the play book, but they've been saying that since last year, so I'm not holding my breath.
  3. I think this one will be close........probably boring and low scoring. .....but close. Its time we beat you guys though.
  4. Owl fan here, I think this game will be close. Neither of our teams have been great on offense, but the defense has been decent. Like you guys we are also still trying to find our qb. I'm predicting a 9-6 score, all field goals. I'm 50/50 on the victor, it could go either way but since I'm behind enemy lines.....Go Owls! Edit: if anyone is interested, the owlsnest is our main message board
  5. As an FAU fan/alum, I hope they do something resulting in loss of current players in the next day or two. That would be nice Realistically though, I doubt much will happen to UM, the NCAA will not make an example out of them.
  6. We are stepping it up and making changes. FAU still has a long way to go, but the hiring of Coach Pelini and the firing of the AD Angelos were two big steps in the right direction. I was dissapointed in our performance versus Wagner, but Coach made it clear that we are working with a limited playbook and each week it will expand. I'm not totally on board with that, but so far we have shown improvement each week and thats what I'm looking for after a 1-11 season. Our "season" really starts this week, in conference play. I don't think we'll do much this year, but next year we should be in a position to threaten the conference champions. The new AD has already brought back student interest, has been out and about talking to the local community and is working hard to get some fundraising going, all of which was non-existant under the old guy. Our attendance is rough, but thats what happens after you go 1-11, USF's will probably be dropping off as well unless the team picks it up. As for Schnellenberger, I give him credit for everything he's done for us and for football in general, but he puts the cart way before the horse sometimes. Anyway, for this weekend I'll be at Rayjay with my bulls gear on, good luck guys!
  7. USF - If they are younger, I'd suggest the old mall parking lot, it gets rowdy there sometimes and the parking rules are pretty lax, atleast they have been in the past. I think my group will be over by HCC tailgating in their lot. Never been to a Bucs game. For the Dolphins game, We usually park in a grass lot across the street from the WalMart at the stadium. If you get there when it opens, you can get one of the spots along the front row which gives you lots of room for tailgate games and canopies. If they're not bringing a lot of their own stuff, I'd tell them to travel the parking lot around the stadium with a cooler and visit random tailgates.
  8. Hey guys, FAU alum here and let me tell you, as someone who's team spent a lot of time on the bottom 10 list last year, there is one positive, "you can only go up from there". I haven't seen USF play this year, other last week at Ball State, what are the team's biggest issues? By the way my USF connection is that my sister is a bull and I've been going to USF games for the last couple years. I'd like to give Skip the benefit of the doubt here and give him time to build his team, but I think his time may be running short. In anycase, I'll be at the game saturday, GO BULLS! GO OWLS!
