Auggie is one of the best players we have ever had at USF. The UCF game was not for his strengths so coach took him out but one game will not define the great years he has had with us. We need more leaders like him.

    GO BULLS !!!

I agree.  And like I said in another post.  He is the defensive captain and lead tackler (all time).  You might think the game was not to his strengths but you dam_n sure give him a chance to prove otherwise.

    we took the slow D

I said this in another post about Sanchez.  Sanchez is the leading tackler in USF history and the defensive captain.  You don't sit him for the biggest game of the season.  You just don't do that.  You don't look at one of your team leaders and say "you are just not good enough" without giving him the chance to prove otherwise.

Given the fact that they had a plan B tells me they did deliberate on it.

No way McCants moves to RB. He's too good of a receiver I think. Kid needs some space with the ball to feast on DBs. I think moving him to RB would be a really bad move. He likely is a TE at the next level.

McCants needs weekly Chuck Norris threads next year.  Dude is a stud and that block alone in the beginning of the season makes him worthy.

What do we expect from the QB position?  I hear that Oladokun is a more accurate passer and maybe faster than Q. Kean may be a better passer.

I have not seen much in Kean that impresses me but what the hell do I know?  I will say that it is tough to measure how accurate a passer someone is without live game action.

Some players throw nice and look good in practice but not good under fire.  So good in practice that the coach has to break his foot to get rid of him.

Don't forget how xCWT hurt Asiantii Woulard's foot ... it's so true how news stories get broken on message boards.

I have that one tied to lob99 for some reason and that would have tarnished those other 2 legit stories ...

It was lob99 but it was one of the times he was just joking around.  It can be hard to tell with that guy sometime.  Maybe he was serious, I don't know but I always assumed it was a joke and helped perpetuate it.

I'm not saying any of it is accurate. All I'm saying is what I've heard. You can choose to disbelieve it. Not sure how much of it I believe myself. But sometimes rumors turn out to be accurate.

I totally agree.  I just am very wary of that kind of info.  Remember when everyone swore xCWT wasn't calling plays when we started doing well?  They even had insider information from players that they posted.  It turned out to be total BS.  The players were just speculating like the rest of us and the guy posting was just reinforcing his bias.

CCS might want out but I am not sure why.  He gets paid well and has next to no pressure.  He has access to great recruits etc.

The apathetic fan base?  I guess, but didn't he just get run out of town by the opposite?

I was also referring to earlier FootballScoop.com info. People at UF think he's a good coach, and he's (rumored) to be interested in leaving USF

Right, but how much of that is an echo chamber?  You just assumed he was unhappy here (he may be!) because he put out feelers for his dream job.  Now you come here and say it and it gets repeated back to someone at football scoop or somewhere else.

I read somewhere that you were 10 feet tall.

He might be eager enough to leave that he'd consider a demotion in position (if not pay).

Or maybe Florida is just his dream job.  I left my last job because my current one opened up and I wanted if for a long time.  It bummed me out that I had to leave but it made more sense for my situation.  I am not at all surprised he put out feelers for that job.

I could see Mullen offering Strong his D.C. position at UF. And I could see Strong taking that offer. His family wouldn't have to move, he'd get paid essentially the same thing, and he'd be back at a major P5 school.

Not saying it will happen. Only that it's a distinct possibility.

You could see that?  I mean he would basically be going back to where his career was, what 7 years ago?

    Sounds far fetched.

I never said he was a bad player, nor did I say he should ride the bench, but it seems as if they force the issue with him.

    Then the thread title sucks.

You insult him in the title and are walking it back now.  Ask the mods to change it.

If I were ANY player on the team or family member I would be thinking "**** these fans".  I'm actually thinking it now but am just a guy on the forum.

What the hell happened to our fan base?

Strong says he is content with finishing 3rd in a second tier conference. Compare that to Taggart who said he wants to be to be first black coach to win a championship.

This says a lot about his drive

CWT hasn't won anything either.  Let's not freak out over coach speak.

Do you really think he prefers being 9-2 over 11-0?

We lost some close games and I'm pretty hopeful.  I'm rare around here as I prefer winning in defense like we did with CJL.

Sad that it took 21 points in 1st qtr for Strong to realize that.

He is there leading tackler in USF history.  It takes balls sitting him IMO.  I feel bad for Auggie, he always plays with heart and smarts.  He just doesn't have the speed.

There will be quite a few coaching dominoes to fall at the end of this year. I have a hard time believing strong won’t have P5 options.

I think he will have P5 options but if I were him I would not jump ship to a SEC dumpster fire.  Especially if he is making P5 money here.  Next year or the year after he would have much better options.

  14. What really used to excite me about our team is the "we can beat anybody" mentality we had.  It was great going into a game against any team, no matter how good they were knowing we had a punchers chance and often came away with a win.  It started with that Pitt win all those years ago and continued against Louisville, Auburn, FSU, Miami, WVU and Notre Dame.  (Of course we also had the ability to lose to anybody.)

It kind of ended with Notre Dame IMO.  We need to get that swagger back.  UCF is a solid team but does not have the cachet of the ones I have mentioned but it would be a good start.

I don't have a lot of confidence heading into this game.  In fact, I think we lose pretty badly.  If its any conciliation, I felt that way about all the games I mentioned above.  It would be nice for my Bulls to start surprising me again.  That was when it was truly exciting to watch.

Find it interesting that he was so quick to pull the trigger on Childs and Jackson, but is playing the "wait and see" game with Dingle who was one of the guys he recruited. Maybe a little arrogant and hypocritical to think that one of "his guys" would never be proven guilty to do something like that and be given the benefit of the doubt on this type of crime. Right now, it looks like harsh accountability only applied to Taggart's guys that were going to ride the bench and not top recruits from the 2017 class. One more thing that makes me think it would be a good thing if CCS ended up getting poached.

Geez, it's not like he broke the guys foot or anything...

And therein lies the rub. Probably need to add a poll for this, but how many of us have confidence he'll go 1-0, much less 2-0 or 3-0 in the remainder of this season?

My guess is we'll go 1-1.  End the season 10-2.  We would have been 11-2 if we hadn't canceled a game for weather.

We had a solid year.  Next year we likely take a step back but still have a decent season.

Meanwhile CCS does his thing in the recruiting trail and we gain depth, the team learns the offense and the defense regains it's swagger.

All but my visits here I have no complaints. There are things we could do better for sure and the play calling can be frustrating but we move the ball and eat the clock.
