I don’t think AAC will die. They will just multiply. They will probably still be around like C-USA or SunBelt. Both those conferences survived after USF left them for dead. USF may have killed the Metro & Big East football but they did not kill off C-USA or the Sunbelt yet…

USF went 8-8 in CUSA after being in the conference for only 2 seasons and finishing no better than fifth. Saying we left them for dead is overestimating our worth considering teams like TCU, Louisville, Houston, and Cincinnati were our conference mates.

Similarly, our 3-28 conference record over the past 4 seasons suggests our value to the conference is not high outside the academic profile. We haven’t done a good job of maintaining our brand and raising the profile of the conference nationally — hopefully Coach Golesh can rectify that.

I agree, I just don't like it. I find these facts very inconvienent.

I’m just hoping the team is fun to watch this year. The Gulf Coast Offense was some of the  most enjoyable football I’ve seen from us. I want to get back to that. No more ‘Clemson progrum culture’ nonsense or Sleepy Charlie bull. Need some energy. The level of competition has fallen so much in the past decade, we better be able to claw our way to the top of the conference.

another copy paste article. zero analysis and respect for USF football which is probably warranted but I'm tried of reading and hearing that teams like WKU and UTSA have superior teams compared to us. Even North Texas gets better reviews than we do. CJS is long gone. It's a new f******* year. F*** these reviews that say we're gonna s*** again. Just give UTSA the **** trophy already if they're so great and if I read one more paragraph about Tulane's magical 2022 season i'm gonna puke.

We're bad until we're not. We've been in the bottom 25 or so of FBS teams for five seasons. We're 4-33 since late 2019. We're bringing in a new HC with no experience. What respect have we earned? WKU is 27-17 since that timeframe with multiple bowl wins. UTSA is 30-13 with 2 conference championships. They do have superior teams.

  4. It used to be that my entire weekend was predicated on the result of the USF game. If we won, I was in a better mood, I enjoyed watching the other games more, I felt more upbeat. If we lost, I hated watching other games because seeing another team win would just set me over the edge. I'd be pissed off the rest of the night, I'd vent on TBP, read articles about how bad we were, etc.

Now, I don't really care. We've been bad for a while. We've been left behind in realignment, the stakes have never been lower. We're on ESPN 8 with empty stands, cameramen who are lost, and announcers who spend more time talking about what they ate for lunch than the in-game action. We look flat and inept week after week. Doesn't really feel like it makes a difference if we win because it seems like there will be a letdown the following week. Unless we start stringing together a bunch of wins, make some noise, and most importantly, are fun to watch, it's not worth getting emotionally invested anymore.

Plus, with NIL, realignment, the sorry state of our team, etc. I don't enjoy college football as much as I used to.

Bingo lol. Those were so wild days. I wonder if that play is called or works if we didn’t get that 5 yard penalty on the goal line

And the Defensive Coordinator for UConn when we got stuffed on that play in '05?

A couple of weeks ago, in a post regarding the OCS, I criticized the Faculty for not achieving AAU status.  After yesterday’s announcement, it’s only fair and appropriate that I commend the Faculty for this accomplishment. Congratulations to all involved!

However, I received a reality check today on this topic. I’m enrolled in a doctoral program at another university. I asked a professor (who is also the program director) what his opinion of the AAU was, and his response was “what’s that?” Given that the guy has been a professor for 25-30 years, I was very surprised by the response.  After I explained the AAU, he mentioned the Carnegie Research ranking system. Looked it up, and USF is an R1 school. At least he didn’t say that the AAU is a basketball league - that’s a comment I’d expect from a UCF fan…

I still think that the AAU is a big deal, but the professor’s comment tempered my enthusiasm. If it gets us in a better conference, then so much the better.

USF Athletics - time to step up and take the school to the next level!

Carnegie Classification and AAU membership are completely different. All AAU members are classified as R1. AAU membership is like joining an invitation only professional organization — your peers are recognizing you as the best of the best.

I always wonder what will happen when we start winning. What will we have to talk about? I honestly can't remember what went on here 10-15 years ago.

    a) Why we're not actually as good as our record indicates and how the media is blowing things out of proportion.

    b) Why we're actually better than our record indicates and the media is not giving us enough respect.

  8. Yeah, we've been a sleeping giant for decades now. Starting to think this dude ain't waking up.

By the way, I googled 'USF football explode' and here were some of the top results:

    • UCF Knights outlast USF Bulls in 'War on I-4′
    • BYU football explodes past USF 50-21
    • Temple Offense Explodes in Win Over USF
    • Former USF Football Player Shows Dangers of Fireworks
    • 25 Ways The USF Bulls Program Has Completely Blown It

Yeah, this is more the type of exploding we're known for...
