Are other team's beat writers covering USF? I'm not seeing much about USF on their beat writer's pages...plenty of Bulls in Tally. If enough of us demand it, think we can get him to cover us as well?
-
I'm fine with the fact that our beat writer is covering fsu instead of USF practice. I'm sure the FSU beat writer is doing a fine job covering USF for our Tally Bulls.

61st ranked class is amazing for a small school like usf! Middle of the pack overall and 2nd amongst G5.

When Taggs was here, all I kept hearing were good things about Watts and even in spring practice it seemed like he was going to be the next big thing in the secondary...I wonder what happened?

Wow, glad the local guy thinks so highly of our conference. ..that beat 3 p6 teams in bowl games. ..

I hate this year's team. ..disappointment express.

Q gets that easy. ..

I'll be pissed if Gilbert gets on the plane back to tampa.

Glibert needs to go.

We stink. This year's team was terrible. Wr's can't catch and qb can't throw. Rb's average at best.

Impressive tape. He shows a lot of toughness and a knack for the ball. Reminds me a little bit of Auggie. Needs to bulk up a bit, but he should definitely get some offers.

I'm sad for the kids who lost their coach before the bowl game. Puts a damper on a good year.

Well, we are no longer in a BCS (P6) conference. When we were, we were able to compete much better for talent, especially against mid level BCS schools.
FWIW, Q like Grothe and Daniels, was recruited at other positions by the bigger schools. So, at the time, they were not considered 'splash' players at QB.
The recruiting ceiling at USF has been lowered as a result of being in a G5 conference. There is only so much that any coach can do about that.
I have gone back and looked at our past recruiting rankings and this is what I have seen. Leavitt did a really good job at finding the diamonds in the rough. He had loads of two star and low three star players that turned out to be key players and see the field a lot during his tenure. Holtz had similar classes to Leavitt rankings wise, but I don't think he had quite the eye for hidden gems that Leavitt had or the coaching motivation was bad because I've heard stories of the players being lazy and not working to improve. Recruiting picked up under Taggart, but I hardly see where we were doing much better in the Big East compared to now...the few 4 stars we picked up in the Big East were mostly busts. Strong's classes are better than Skip's and mostly on par with Taggart's ranking wise minus a few studs here and there. Still don't see where we were doing much better in the Big East.

The players we are getting are impressive on tape and have a good head on their shoulders. We aren't getting any all American world beaters, but the good solid kids we are getting can be coached up to best anybody.

I'm good with our two current QBs. I we get him cool, if not, i prefer the two QBs who currently have USF in their heart anyways.
Our current QB's fit our dual threat mold a little better I feel.

Ouch. Bad football program in a bad location...even if I do like the coach.

Florida state is still going after justin fields as their number one and who would want to go top tenn. Right now?
-
He wants to play RB and we wanted him on defense...same reason Flowers chose us over big name players. Smaller schools can land kids if they want them at positions that they want to play. We didn't like him at RB.

But they're P5, this isn't supposed to happen to them.
exactly, we are a little league pile of dirt and they are royalty. They have rights and we don't.

And down goes another AAC coach.
We really must be a lousy conference, when so many P5 schools want our coaches.
I entered that into the ESPN P5 bias excuse generator and this is what I got: "A team in the AAC conference that has success is directly attributable to their luck getting good coaches, and not to the program as a whole."

I disagree.
If UCF beats Auburn they will move up to #7 or #8 at worse in the final polls.
They'll still find a way to drop them.

He's going with Frost to Nebraska I think.

We can add a third Birmingham bowl trophy to our case! It will be a focal piece to show recruits! Over here is our Birmingham bowl trophy...and over here is our Birmingham bowl trophy...and did we mention that we won the Birmingham bowl?

Meh, we won the Birmingham bowl. Not really putting us on the map. That's the worst bowl game for the sec. The hallmark of a bad season for most top teams.
