If only Holtz and his staff could compete. Any coach with an ounce of pride would stand up and accept the blame and responsibility. But why would be nobody around him demands it.

Holtz is completely out of touch. It is up to the media fans and donors to hold him accountable. That was far from a good game. No D again poor offense bad game management on and on. Enough coach speak. Holtz has done long lasting damage and the costs to USF go up with each pitiful effort. The light at the end of this tunnel is a train and the carnage is on Holtz and his poorly prepared staffs hands.

We have hit bottom. I am over this staff and team. I love the Bulls but there is no excuse for this. But Holtz will make some. Season and future are over.

Nice job D. Proud of that effort. This team is an embarrassment. No more wins no bowls no recruits and no donations. The program is dying.

This is the worst defense in the history of the program. But coach will be proud of effort. Wish i could be this bad at my profession. Tear it down and start over. Holtz get away from my beloved school. You are a disease.

Holtz should be ashamed to accept a pay check. This guy have lived off his fathers name and has never been more than a marginal coach. Someone show me one thing with this program that leads you to think better days are ahead. He should be a man and resign as he has failed.

Wonder if Holtz will get an extension at the half. Jury is in this whole program is in disrepair. Letting them drive for that FG was awful. No fire at all.

The coaching on this team is awful. Only player that seems to have improved is JBH. Skip is way overpaid for his production.

Watch a good coach out do a bad coach. Bad call on long FG try. And Temple has adjusted. Holtz is garbage

What has Holtz and his staff ever done to make anyone think Woulard will develop here. Quite frankly he could be making a bad decision to come here. Based on the offensive scheme (is there one?). He may decide to make another choice. I cannot think of one player that has improved from year to year with this staff.

And again this is not about whether Leavitt should have been fired. It is has Holtz ever left you thinking........ The staff did a great job and out coached the other team with a complete and consistent effort. Have they ever made you as a fan say this program is on an upswing and the future is bright and as such I want to provide more support to help the program continue to grow ( ie pull out the checkbook). I know my answer.

Case in point when BJ had to leave for a play the coaches were so prepared and our back up so ready that Rutgers threw 9 men in the box and dropped the obvious coming play for a three yard loss. A blind squirrel could have found that nut and the three laying next to it.

To Holtz: show this fan base something or the empty seats will greatly outnumber the team turnovers in those awfully difficult humid environments like you so bravely faced and lost too at UCONN last season.

I have seen all of the games since day 1 and I know for the most part those teams played better than the ones we have seen under Holtz. Yes on several occasions they were terrible and may have been ill prepared and even quit. But under Holtz and staff I don't think the fanbase has seen any reason to assume the team is on an upward swing. The players seem to be able to overcome what appears to be very poor coaching and stay in games but miscues, inept playcalling and repeated errors are leading to repetitive losses by a team that is supposed to be senior laden. Maybe this season Holtz finds a way but body of work so far points to another bowl season of Bulls needing tickets to a game to participate.

How do you get from beating Notre Dame at their place 54 weeks ago to where the program is now?

For the most part Notre Dame beat themselves. Turnovers in the red zone and the USF defense was soft that game too.

Even in the Cinn road win the teams defense was porous. And that would be this staff biggest achievement so far.

Greg in all due respect USF has not looked particularly good in any game coached by Holtz and staff. The one point win was almost a loss. Last seasons game was won and then lost. Yesterday the way the team played they were lucky to be in it at all. Yes Leavitt had no success against Rutgers either but his teams played hard and fast although with not much discipline. This staff has not put together even one solid all around game in my book even against teams that they completely overmatch. Holtz and staffs body of work reflects poorly and that is the bottom line.

Very good points. Holtz and staff have shown no ability to correct any of these shortcomings though. They cannot adjust and coach what they have and don't seem to be able to get what they need. Unless undersized linemen from Jesuit is what we need. Probably help the team GPA but as fans I am more interested in wins.

Maybe Holtz and staff will red shirt him? Or get him a hardship waiver and then rarely put him on the field. Or change him to a different position. This is the only player development I have seen out of this staff. But sure Holtz and his staff are proud of his effort. Wish my job was only interested in my effort as opposed to my results. This staff thus far is a joke.

Going in to season three:

Lost in terrible fashion

Defense is the worst the team has ever had. Too soft, no speed, no pressure

No complete games. Good offense, defense and special teams

Even our decent wins have been marked with flaws. Notre Dame no defense, Miami, luck at end, Clemson Bowl game defense almost let them come back, Nevada pure luck

I see no player development

Recruiting seems to be lacking.

Clock management terrible

We are not competitive in Big Least. Based on recent results it would not surprise if the team cannot win a conference game this season. Temple actually looks ok and Syracuse could light up this defense.

In summary, Holtz and company have taken team to a new level if that level is regressing and the fan base is going to show the despair with the program. FSU will most likely embarrass us this month.

And in an unrelated note would someone please tell President Judy that her ridiculous grandstanding at games is becoming disgusting. Last night in the box glad handing the crowd and first game with the band tribute is bush league. Be a leader and establish a direction for your sports programs or watch the money dry up.

Holtz needs to find a way to make this work or with this contract extension he will drag the program to a sorry depth from which it may take decades to recover. Unless USF wants to miss bowls each season and celebrate wins against 1AA's, and the UTEPs, FAMUs and Ball States of the world. Sad to say it but having seen UCF play against Ohio State they would beat our team this season. Not to mention when we have to play them once a year. Leavitt must be sad at the state of something he built and took such pride in (and no this is not meant to be a discussion of whether it was time for him to go).

I love my Bulls and am sad at what our team currently looks like.

Just wanted to move this back up and see what the status of seats is now that we are past the donors. Love the new dome and really like my seats. Glad to be a new season basketball holder. Hoping the Bulls have turned the corner in basketball. Last season was a very exciting time. Go Bulls

Agree, football is about winning and developing kids.  If the NCAA clears them then USF should too.  Let the academics worry about creating the academic reputation of the school.  Frankly don't see many of them making all that big of an impact anyway.  As stated its not like we are Duke or Harvard.  I would love to see the kids that grades excluded from a place like USC, Oklahoma, Florida, FSU, Ohio State and the like.  Heck not even mentioning the Maurice Claretts, Reggie Bush's and the prior sex assualt types (see Tennessee and Lane Kiffen).  Football like it or not is about winning amd making money.   How many of thes players are honestly going to make or break our school's academic reputation?  The NCAA graduation stats are a joke for the most part anyway.  Compare those numbers to the general student body populations at most schools and I bet the numbers are pretty consistent.  Not like most that enter schools are finished in 4 years or graduate themselves.  Many never finish and many don't achieve the grades themselves either.  Lets just compete and win.  We have enough to overcome to compete with the bigs boys as isl.
