1. I would love to beat any of the following...

Washington - my second favorite team, but people in the NW would know about us

Penn State - I just don't like them for some reason

    Florida - hate em

Tenn - I don't know why, I just want to

Texas - We had the number #1 frosh QB, NOT THEM!! If Grothe had Texas' supporting cast, he'd be on the heisman watch list.

    Exclusive to next year: AUBURN

  2. Just read this in USF's rivals forum. Don't know how credible this is...

Vincent Williams received a written offer from USF today. He plans on attending a Bull's practice, meet the coaches, and tour the facilities over his spring break (last week of March).

Vince currently holds written offers from: UF, LSU, Alabama, and now USF

He has a verbal offer from: FSU (will get letter at FSU junior day 3/24)

Vince is a Rivals 100 to watch for 2008!

There is a picture and a short story about a Scout.com combine in JAX

  3. I ended up getting a used set of TaylorMade OS2's with graphite shafts, and a R5 360 Driver

It turns out the golf shop at the flea market in Oldsmar is basically a T & D used store. They gave me a decent discount and let me demo the clubs at the range.

It, uhh, turns out that clubs made me, uhh, slice the ball a lot and, uhh, sometimes they made me top it...but I got them anyways. I figure they're just not broken in yet, right?

  4. I'm friends with a guy who recently graduated from SIU. Their basketball program is doing all the right things and so is their coach. The teams RPI is at #7 right now and we all know who is responsible for that. There is a good chance they could make it into the Elite 8 at least, so to have Lowery at USF will not only rejuvinate this program, it would turn it into a Big East power. Only 2 big east football schools made it into the tourny this year and if Lowery comes aboard, there is a good chance we could be Big East Champs in Football and Basketball in the same year 5 years from now.

    Lowery in '07!

  5. How come USF doesn't go after the big names?

"The star system is inaccurate" I know, I know but why not? Who puts the list of schools on Scout or Rivals (besides the webmaster)? Is it the recruit or the schools that are actually interested?

How can we go after that blue chip if our name isn't even on the list? Next year are we just going to pray that another 3 star Grothe comes along or are we going to offer the Jimmy Clausen on 2008?

You can't win the lotto if you don't buy a ticket

  6. I agree.  We will have the most exposure being in the Big East.

What about making a run at Mark Few?  He seems content at Gonzaga, but why not?  The Big West isn't exactly a great conference (it is solid though), and being on the East Coast only could heighten his coaching prowess.  Just a thought.  I know it would be hard to get him out of Spokane, but might as well bring him up.

Scratch Mark Few's name.  I didn't realize he's been at Gonzaga for 18 years.  The first 10 he was an assistant under Dan Monson.  Also, he recently signed an contract extension through 2016, so it seems he's at home in Spokane.  He went to Oregon so he's Pacific NW to the bone.  I guess I should have researched him before posting it.

It's alright that you jumped to that conclusion. What person wouldn't want to live in Tampa rather than Spokane? I know I wouldn't and I'm Pacific NW to the bone

The answer to your question is Mark Few.  He'd rather be in the Pacific NW fly fishing.

I posted that as more of a joke. The best class I ever took while at Eastern Washington U was White Water Rafting. Gonzaga was our rival but more of a UCF vs. USF rivalry. Their fans are the biggest pr!cks.

  8. Quinn Snyder would be good young blood for the program... let's bump him above Jarvis for now. We need to take a gamble on a coach to restore some life in our program. Quinn has won everywhere... he's also a ladies man (so we could get some hot girls at our games!)

Sorry, but I don't want this for my school:

In the fall of 2004, the NCAA put Mizzou on probation for various violations after a lengthy investigation that failed to substantiate many of the accusations made against Snyder's staff.

Are we to assume Snyder AND staff or take it how it's written?

  9. Shady...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quin_Snyder

In January 2003, point guard Ricky Clemons was arrested on charges of assault and battery and false arrest against his former girlfriend. While in jail, Clemons accused other players of receiving payments from Snyder's assistant coaches, Lane Odom and Tony Harvey, allegations that were dismissed by the NCAA after its investigation.

While the scandal began to unravel, so did Missouri's "dream season". The Tigers, picked first in the Big 12 and ranked #3 at one point, finished the year 16-14, including 9-7 in the Big 12 for a fifth place tie with Texas Tech. The Tigers' final season in the Hearnes Center ended unceremoniously with an 84-82 loss to their archrivals, the Kansas Jayhawks. The Tigers ended the season with a 65-64 loss to the eventual NIT champion Michigan Wolverines.

In the fall of 2004, the NCAA put Mizzou on probation for various violations after a lengthy investigation that failed to substantiate many of the accusations made against Snyder's staff. Snyder overhauled his coaching staff after that, bringing in Melvin Watkins, former head coach at Texas A&M, as his new associate head coach. The 2004-05 team made the post-season NIT, making it 6 consecutive post-season appearances by the Tigers under Snyder. The Tigers posted a 16-16 record before losing to the DePaul Blue Demons in the first round of the NIT. Snyder was the only coach in Missouri history to make post-season play in every season that he coached the team to the season's end.

The 2005-06 Season got off to a decent start, culminating with an 89-86 overtime win over Kansas in mid-January. Snyder defeated the arch-rival Jayhawks in each of his last two meetings with them. But the Tigers lost their next six, the final loss being a 90-64 loss to the Baylor Bears. Snyder resigned the Friday following the Baylor loss, before the conclusion of his seventh season at Missouri. His resignation led to a prolonged controversy over the actions of Athletic Director Mike Alden's handling of the dismissal, as it was learned that Alden sent Tiger Radio Network color analyst Gary Link to inform Snyder that he would not be retained after the season.

To Snyder's credit, he was known for his strong commitment to academics, including a near perfect record of his four-year players earning degrees. Snyder's teams regularly set marks for the highest GPA among Mizzou basketball teams and always ranked near the top of the Big 12 in graduation rates.

This is one side of the story. His teams seem to deal with a lot of turmoil but on who's account? The AD? The Assisants? Snyder?

I'd say look into it. This story doesn't make him out to be shady, just the people around him. And that could go either way.

We don't need to undue RMC's efforts and success on rebuilding the teams image. I like Snyders graduation rates though. I know they don't win games but he seems to have the best of both worlds.

  10. Quin snyder...

    "I'm shady, but I win..."

    .....

    • A native of the Pacific Northwest, Snyder attended Mercer Island High School in the state of Washington.

    • A two-time state player of the year, Snyder led the team to the 1985 state championship. During this time Mercer Island achieved a No. 1 ranking in USA Today’s high school polls.

So he was raised a rich prep. Mercer Island is the Davis Island or (insert REALLY rich neighborhood of Tampa) of Western Washington. Mercer Island high school is the (insert REALLY shady cheating high school of Tampa) of Western Washington. They won A LOT but cheated to get it done.

Four coaching seasons and 4 Tourneys? I renege my prior vote (option E) and choose this guy
