  1. Is it bad that I'm not sitting up nights worrying about whether Marshall likes USF, or whether or not Woolard (that's the correct spelling, kids) is moving fast enough to appease the folks who have nothing better to do than surf the web 24/7?  Or, worse, that I confidently accept the situation we're in and know that we've got proven leadership that will do everything they can to right the ship?

Fact is, guys, the USF Men's Basketball Program and it's Head Coaching Vacancy is what it is.  No amount of spin, wishing, rubbing magic lamps, voodoo, money, or message board ******** is going to bring a coach here if he doesn't want to enter the situation.  Personally?  I don't want a coach not up to the challenge, regardless of whether his name is Marshall, Doherty, Auerbach, or Jesus Christ.

I don't know... i think i'd take Jesus Christ as my coach in a heartbeat, even if he didn't give his all, we'd still go 34-0 every year, and never miss a free throw.  And we'd beat down Duke Blue Devils every year, just out of principle.  ;)

I don't know, man, Jesus Christ never had the size to take on the big men under the net.  Plus, his team would get called for Walking (on water) every game...

    *Badda bing!*

Thank you, I'll be here all week, tip your waitress.

Jesus wouldn't have to take on big men under the net... he'd be the coach, not the power forward... although i don't doubt he coudl do that too, if he'd be willing to don some Nike's instead of sandals.

Jesus would only have to motivate the players (should be the best at that) ,

and scream obsenities at the ref... that might be the sticking point.

We probably tie against the catholic schools

  3. Will the latest buzz about spring football, I am curious what the past was like compared to today. We've got a 5 star FR RB, a SO QB on one heisman watch list, and a defense that would make Jack Bauer shart. Since I'm not only new to the school, but to the area too, what was it like last year or 3 years ago?

I saw a 12 year old boy wearing a bulls hat at RayJay today and noticed several more people with bulls gear. I know there is a buzz but how does it compare?

Anyone have any season ticket sales numbers? What would be an improvement in that dept?

I'm sure glad I didn't get here too late.

  4. The timeline, I would imagine, would depend on when we get the donations secured.  I know that there is a plan to make several improvements in the softball and football practice fields with funds received from donations in the short run.

Rest assured that LRS, CLP and Tino are working at getting something lined up.  Can't help but wonder how the Tino/Yankees/Steinbrenner relationship will play into it.

They could come up with the funding just by searching through the couch cushins.

No Marshall in plan for USF

From what I’m hearing Winthrop coach Gregg Marshall has informed University of South Florida athletic director Doug Woolard to remove his name from consideration for the USF job.

After meeting with Woolard Tuesday in Rock Hill, S.C., Marshall had been targeted to become USF’s next coach. However, Marshall is expected to receive a new 10-year deal to remain at Winthrop, where he has led the Eagles to seven NCAA Tournaments in nine seasons.

Marshall, VCU’s Anthony Grant and UMass’ Travis Ford are among the candidates that USF has pursued that are not interested in the position.

The question now is: where should USF turn next?

    Who's next?

It's hard not to question the credibility of this. I know reporters can't be perfect but there is a blog 2 stories below this stating that Palphrey turned down the USF job (which is untrue). I know Brett acknowledged his mistake but only under the comments section - which I hardly bother to read.

No offense to Brett but I hope he's wrong. It's pretty discouraging readin about people in my top 5 turn down the job.

  6. BS!

    Gillien wanted that job.

"Interviewed out of respect for Dickie V."

Do you really believe that garbage..?

He wants the job or he wouldn't have interviewed for it.

I love people spewing garbage to cover for their ego in case they don't get it.

"Doesn't really want the job and inteviewed out of respect for Dickie V.."

    HA!

what a bunch of freakin bull.

    Do you really want Gillen?

Just because he wants the job doesn't make him the right choice.  Heck, i'd love the job... but if you thought mac was bad... watch out  :)

I'd prefer Pelphry, Lowery, OR Marshall over Gillen.

I agree. I think the three mentioned above are better "fits" for our program over Gillen.

But USF should hire me over you, I'll even take a class on coaching.
