  1. Well, you haven't been here for a while but it's been dark for the last few years.  Just before the light, they say.  Winning brings back everyone.  ;)

Hey Hey!  I actually went over my post history and I hadn't gone a whole year without posting.  I rarely would post about football though...mostly BBall.  lol

  2. I mean...are we REALLY thinking its gonna be that close?!

This is  a team that gave up 30 to OLD DOMINION!!! lol

I'm sorry but I think the difference in the quality of athletes on the field wins this one.

USF will show up to play and play they will!!

    LETS ROLL THE TOPS!!!

    GO BULLS!!!

  3. Man...reading through this thread, its sad the amount of DOUBT we had for this season.  lol

I mean, most had slightly optimistic views.  But for the most part there was no light...lol only darkness.

Good to see a turn around on here and perhaps a turn around for the future!

We back?  Almost.  LETS WIN OUR BOWL GAME AND GET RANKED!!!

    #GOBULLS!!!

  4. For those that live in the area or are coming down early.

Friday Night both football teams will be at the Miami Arena for the Toronto- Miami game. The Heat has a deal for fans of both teams, tickets for $20 for level 400 to $100 for clubhouse level and access. Let me know if interested.

Saturday Afternoon is the Battle of the Bands at Eden Rock Hotel

Sunday afternoon 3-5 is the pep rally at the Loews Hotel and Alumni reception afterwards.

Monday is the Tailgate at the stadium and the game.

This is a great deal! AND a HEAT GAME is always a GREAT experience!

Cool thanks again, just had another USF Alum commit to flying in for the bowl game and he lived in the Miami/Brickell area for a few years.  So, we can use your suggestions plus his to come up with something.  We are probably going to take that Calle Ocho district suggestion.  Ironically, I've been to the Clevelander on South Beach for New Year's back in 2010.  Pure craziness.

hahaha...yes it is.  And the one at the ballpark(fingers crossed its open for our game) is super fun too! :)

  6. yes, there a few stops that have things to do. Make sure you get a day pass. If you get off at government center downtown, you can switch over to the metro mover. The metro mover can take you over to bayside, or the Brickell area. Also, by Flagler on the south side of downtown there are some cool little shops and places to eat.

Also, if you want to venture further south you can stop at the coconut grove station and go by those shops and stuff. Or head further south to the dadeland mall area. The um stop had some ok places to eat before, but idk about now. (One of my sisters is a um grad and the other went to FIU.)

I recommend all of this.  Allow yourself PLENTY of time.  And when you're coming from the airport, and get off at CIVIC CENTER station to walk to the game, know its a 0.8mile almost mile walk to the stadium.

  7. Just and FYI too...the Broward County Alumni Assoc. is throwing a soiree as well.  Not sure if this is the same one done by the big alumni association, but broward always throw s good watch parties and are great people !

They have a lil facebook group if you want to check it out.  I think its $45 for  a "hearty" Lunch buffet and two drink tickets.  $20 for kiddos.

  8.

Thanks for the advice.  Some fellow USF alums and I will be staying in Fort Lauderdale and will probably Uber in.  You said there are some restaurants close to the stadium.  Does that include bars?  And are they walking distance?  We are going to have a group of 6 or 7 and thinking of passing on the alumni tailgate since it only includes 2 drinks.

After more thought on this, there really aren't too many options around the stadium that I would recommend within walking distance.  HOWEVER, within a 15-20min walk there are some great spots.  There is ONE place by the stadium, but I have not been to it.  Its called "Batting Cage Sports Bar", menu looks legit and its steps away from the ballpark.  You might see some bad reviews on google maps, but that usually comes from the patrons that go when its a "club" after hours.  During our game and before/after it will be any old sports bar with good food at NON-stadium prices.

I usually try and get out of there ASAP after the games, unless im drinking in the Clevelander in Left Field.  This is the best bar in the area in my opinion, but the prices are steep.

There are a bevy of other options about a 4min Uber away, or 15-20min walk(immediately south). "Calle Ocho" District.  One is called Ball & Chain.  Its Iconic watering hole from 30s-era miami and is located in Little Havana.  Check it out!  www.ballandchainmiami.com

Other than that there are a ton of other options in the Calle Ocho district for food before and after the game.  But after the game I recommend going to Coconut Grove, Brickell, South Beach or Wynwood and really taking in the more artsy and beautiful parts of Miami.  :)

  9. Be advised that driving anywhere in Miami will be **** slow, especially leaving the game. I would opt for the metro rail if its feasible for where you are staying. The Civic Center Metro Rail Station is about a mile or so walk from the Ball Park. You can also pick up a bus pass at the Metro Rail Station and catch the 7 bus from the Culmer Metro Rail Station and not have to walk a mile trough Allapattah, though that would be missing out on a uniquely Miami experience.

Good luck, its a jungle out there...

A jungle yes...but a very maneuverable jungle in broad daylight.  lol The only thing you really have to battle is the heat, and there will be plenty of dude selling water bottles on the street.  lol

  10. Alright so I'm an out of towner (obviously) and staying at Fontainebleau. What do you recommend for travel to the game? Should I rent a car for travel around the area (I'm coming in Sunday morning and leaving Tuesday afternoon)?

I recommend getting a car.  If you're gonna be around for that length of time.  As much as we're talking about taking trains and such, Miami is a driving city.  Just trying to give everyone all the available options.  I'll most likely drive to the train and take that in, as I will be drinking and traffic after the game(around 5-6pm) will be TERRIBLE.

I 'm from the area and have done all the touristy/south beachy things before.  Might do some that day too...lol but after a big BULLS WIN!! ;)

    GO BULLS!!!

  11. This is WKU's SUNBOWL.  lol

Honestly...im going with about 6 friends(in my group). I know a few others from down there that will be going also.  The Broward County alumnni chapter is putting together a NICE tailgate for the group.  Maybe whoever goes can crash it.  :P

I usually watch the games with the Broward County Alumni group when I'm home during the season.  Great group of people.  We always scream and scare away canes fans.  :P

  12. FYI...ill post this in its own thread.  There are two a few garages and a few parking lots around the stadium.

A majority of parking(and the cheapest) is located at the houses and apartment complexes around the stadium.  Pay the residents to park in their lots.  Usually runs from $10-25 or $30-50(if the fish are playing the Yankees) :/

I go to marlins games ALL the time.  Arrive early if you're driving cause parking and driving down there is a bit of a clown show.  lol

  13. My parents house.  Cheap, easy, and traditional puerto rican food before and after, CON MOJITOS!  ;) :icon_drink:

But seriously for you out of towners, I recommend staying in the Brickell area or anywhere near the airport.  The stadium is very close to the Airport and 836.

You can ALSO take the MetroRail to the Stadium and get off at the UM-Jackson Medical Center stop and walk. (like 0.5mile walk)

This is a great option for those of you who want to get annihilated drunk before and after the game but might not have a DD. lol

The Lowes Hotel on South Beach will be fun...but everything around there is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced.  lol But beautiful.

I'll post some fav's for those of you looking for good food and things to do in a bit.

    Cheers!
