  1. I just want to note that EVERYONE in the stadium was on their feet for USF's defense at the end of the game... even the alumni sections and the south endzone...

Indeed they were! I'd also like to add it was great to see so many bulls horns in the air when H.O.T. played #8/The Bull. That's the most horns I've seen in the air when that was played.

  2. Student section was packed, and very few of them left before the game was over.  Hopefully this will put to rest the old "Ybor vs Night Football Games" theory.

The UConn game will tell us whether this is true or not. If there is a full student section at the UConn game, after the past two losses, I think that will say a lot about our students.

  3. I fully expected a USF win last night, as I would if Ohio State, Texas, Florida, USC, or any other program came to Tampa.  100 years of tradition means nothing other than memories.  Just like those other programs we have a bunch of 18 to 22 yo guys who want to play their hearts out and win.  I'll take that over tradition any day of the week.

    Couldn't have said it better.

  4. Well, there is certainly a correlation between money spent and how well a team does... but, there is also a decreasing return to it as well. I tend to think we are beyond the point where money has such an important effect on the results. We have a practice field, we have a nice atheltic department, and we have an okay coaching staff. Would another $100,000 add one more win to our record? Another $1,000,000 add one more win? Money only goes so far.

That is my point, maybe spending and additional $2,000,000 may buy you two more wins and a winning season.  Winning seasons buy recruits.  True top recruits (those that can qualify and don't come with baggage) will grow the program.

My point is that it won't buy more wins. We are beyond the point where spending money has a great effect on the results. What would you want them to spend money on exactly?

  5. I have mentioned this before.  We will remain a mid major school until spending on programs increase.

From Equity in Athletics web site. Spending on the football programs (rounded).

    Syracuse     $15,008,000

    Pitt              $12,087,000

    WV             $11,328,000

    UConn        $10,433,000

    Rutgers       $10,667,000

    Louisville     $8,988,000

    Cincy          $7,078,000

    USF            $5,378,000

We have a long way to go.

  6. Economics teaches us that if there are no close substitutes for USF football that attendance should go up... theoretically.

The Devil Rays do not have any close substitutes.

Quite true. But, if the Bucs left, some of their fans still want to watch competitive football in person... where are they going to go? I would think a fair share of them would attend USF games, some to HS games, some would just not care and stay home. Like I said.... theoretically.

  7. Cool fall football weather in the air.  Bulls playing on national TV.  RayJay should be rocking.  Field painted Green & Gold.  # 23 ranked team in the country in our house.  Cannt get much better if your a Bulls fan.

Only thing I can think of is a win!

Make sure everyone brings their CDs to the tailgate... I'd love to walk around and here nothing but good ol' Number 8 playing everywhere I walk!!
