I think, just based on what I've read about him, that he could be really good in a couple of years. I guess in an ideal world, he goes out there next year, challenges Grothe in camp, redshirts and then is ready to take the reigns as a junior after Grothe graduates a couple years later. It's gotta be a difficult time for him, though; when he committed, we were starting Pat Julmiste, an OK quarterback who was a senior, and now we're starting Matt Grothe, an outstanding quarterback who is a freshman. Pretty different situation. Can't think of a better mentore for that kid than Grothe. Even if he starts his Junior year after Grothe graduates........he'll have the knowledge and experience that he gained under Grothe. It could turn out to be a great situation for USF's depth at QB.
