It took all week, but VT finally had enough. See article below from my local (Norfolk) paper. Vick's career at Tech is over FILE PHOTO By KYLE TUCKER, The Virginian-Pilot © January 6, 2006 | Last updated 4:59 PM Jan. 6 Quarterback Marcus Vick’s career at Virginia Tech ended this afternoon. The university released a statement at 4:49 p.m. saying that he has been permanently dismissed from the football program “due to a cumulative effect of legal infractions and unsportsmanlike play.†Coach Frank Beamer met with Vick and his mother, Brenda Boddie, today and informed them of the decision. “His actions are unfortunate and we wish him well in the future,†the release said. In it, Beamer added: “I’m very disappointed that this didn’t have a better ending. We wanted what’s best for this football team and Marcus. I certainly wish him the best.†A previously scheduled press conference at 11 a.m. Saturday will go on, where Beamer, athletic director Jim Weaver and Tech president Charles Steger will comment on the dismissal.
