The FAU homecoming game probably shell shocked curious fans into next year.
Another blown opportunity by the program...wasn't the loss so much but complete beatdown from Fau that killed what fringe support that was possibly building then.
But I'll be at the game...hopefully we get that 6th win.

We wouldn't get the starters from those teams but most likely but 2nd and 3rd stringer that never really played for a reason.
Would Prefer getting in portal some FCS all conference players that have produced even if at FCS level...especially if they have great speed.

IF we lose it will be ugly and probably more because of poor offense than defense.
Yea I'm not that worried about Charlotte's offense it's quite bad. I know we are bad but we hold below avg offenses sort of in check.
Our offense is my bigger concern the start strong then fade in particular issues we seem to be having these last two games.

If we give up anything near 50 points to Charlotte the whole defensive staff should be fired immediately. WE are the only defense in the AAC to give up 300+ points.
That horrible offense and our horrible defense is going to be interesting. I think they play to our strength as they run ball better and that's what we defend the best. But they have a good defense...afraid this game is going to be a close one.

All I need to know about the defense is to watch some of the absolute moon shots Frank Harris threw that only went about 25 yards downfield and some of our guys still didn't have the speed to close on them. I'm willing to give Orlando another year because A) there are very few "dogs" on this team. That talent and depth are not where they need to be. And B) going to a 4th DC in 4 years is going to help with the same level of talent either.
We need some stability at defense. I'll say when they can make the tackle they usually do unlike last year they were much worse making tackles.
Still don't think next year's defense will be great as it will be young but we should start to see some improvement though.

The lack of overall speed is the issue on defense. UTSA proved it clearly. Recruit guys who can run. The sideline reporter even pointed it out at one point: “USF doesn’t have the speed to run with UTSA.” Quite honestly, the same goes on offense. We need to seriously improve our overall team speed if we’re going to get better and compete with good teams.
Agree we need way more team speed in general. Good recruiting will get us back to where we need to be.

Defending the indefensible. Just like the7-0 people were saying everything was fine when in reality it was imploding. Case in point yesterday New Mexico State beat Auburn. Did they have better athletes? No! they had better coaching. Todd O has shown no evidence that he is coaching well this year. I know everyone wants Todd O from UCONN or Houston, or maybe his season at FAU when he looks like the D coordinator from Texas and USC where is consistently out coached. Outside of the Alabama game which I still think Coach Saban sandbagged tell me a game where he coached a great game?
So between last year and this year he forgot to coach defense? Its the players. They secondary...most are FCS caliber. Tackling has improved greatly over last year and run stopping up middle. We definitely Need help at DE, corner and safety and LB. Ward the freshmen might turn out ok...but all the upperclassmen in secondary outside maybe one or two gotta go.

Agree 100%. The game was lost during the two possessions in the 2nd quarter where we were at midfield and did nothing. Also, where are the tight ends? I feel the focus on #38 is too much at this point.
Yep we went hb dive fast and did nothing one drive. We need an oc that has some creativity.

If I am looking at the AAC standings correctly, USF has a decent chance to finish 5th in the league with .500 record in conference and overall, with a potential bowl victory thrown in for an overall winning record. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Either way, the current situation seems a lot better than most on here predicted or expected. I'd call it a good first step to great years ahead.
Agree...this hopefully is bottom with Golesh and we keep getting better these next few years. This team is definitely not where he wants to be talent wise.
-
Biggest gripe is this fast play vs good teams doesn't work your just taking less than a minute off clock and punting. That will kill Any defense..especially a bad one.
We just need alot more talent and all over the team. Once we get more than the other teams we will start beating up this conference.

Give the DC another year. He is trying to make chicken salad out of chicken crap. The defense has been awful despite an occasional glimpse of competence. Logan Berryhill is a converted WR who beat out some transfers from P5. Ward, a freshman DB, is growing into a reliable player. Stokes is getting better.
Hit the transfer portal and close strong in recruiting. If a defensive player is looking to compete for immediate playing time, USF is an attractive option.
And CAG must adjust the pace on offense until the defense raises its standard
Agree...especially the pace vs a good defense. Actually not only does defense need to raise standards so does offense.

Got us 5 wins when i thought we would win 4. Im not mad
Yeah it does but vs good teams its not going to work.
Really hope we can beat Charlotte, like to see this team get a chance at a bowl game.

It's high risk high reward for sure
It might work vs the bad teams not the good ones now.

I see no benefit of going fast on offense it just leaves more time for defense to defend and it doesn't tire out the other team especially when we go 3 and out in 50 seconds.
Golesh needs to adjust to his team better. Maybe when we have an elite offense that scores on 95% of drives you can run that type of offense.
-
Quick 3 and outs hanged this bad defense really out to dry.
More disapointed in the offense.
-
Lack off offense was the real killer in this game...defense giving up 42 after 3 was to be expected.

Our defense loves giving up career days and program history performances
Its what they were built for.

Our offense has more fight than the defense....maybe let them play defense can't be any worse.
-
We don't have the talent to run this hurry up offense just ends up hurting defense.

Or we actually get players who are D1 quality. Our last 2 coaches really screwed us especially on D. We need to put 95% of our recruiting effort into the defense.
Agree...we need to flush what we have out of here.
-
If I played this defense I'd pass every Down.
-
About 95% defense needs to leave end of year.
-
I think what's most frustrating Is offense starts again well they adjust and we are done rest of game.
Not sure that makes me feel great about Golesh as OC. Could be I guess our talent is just bad.
Hopefully we beat Charlotte
If USF Football Wins against Charlotte should the fans storm the field?
