  1. Confused as to why some people think we were going to go after some big name...wouldn't have some of the other schools looking for coaches go after Petrino, Davis or others? I haven't heard their names, nor were they hired. We are in a sinking conference, have had a couple miserable seasons and a wavering fan base. WT has getting a lot of hype for national outlets as an up and coming coach. This guy has fire and passion, just like our first coach. I say give him a shot, let him build his staff and get some recruites in here before all the critism and bickering

The thing is, the big names were coming after us. Butch Davis REALLY wanted this job. He even did an interview today with Auman explaining what an awesome opportunity he saw this as. Houston Nutt was really pushing to get this job. Tommy Bowden, etc. etc. etc.

Taggart was the guy all along. He just makes too much sense. I don't think they ever seriously considered anyone but him.

  2. Sad thing is i saw a bulls.fan talking **** to AW telling him to go to nc state and i qoute "you pos "....what a disgrace. i did get a good pic with him

Wow. I can't believe that. Why would a fan say something like that to arguably our most important recruit in school history? There is not a BCS level QB on this roster. We need him desperately. People are freaking clueless.

  3. I grew up in Maryland. Baltimore and DC are 2 distinct markets despite only being 30 miles apart. They have different local TV networks, cable providers, etc. Baltimore by itself is a small market. I think its ranked in the upper 20's to low 30's. DC is a top 10 market. When you combine the 2 its about the same size market as combining Tampa and Orlando.

There aren't a lot of great places to visiit in Maryland, but Annapolis is the exception. Its beautiful. I would love to take a road trip up there with the Bulls. It would give me an excuse to visit friends and family and I just love Annapolis.

  4. This is all kind of stupid. Basically what could happen and seems likely at this point, is that the Big East is going to be the ACC and Conf. USA is going to be the Big East.

We just have to hope that we end up in the new ACC and that at least a few marquee programs are around when we get there. But...we have to hope that at least FSU if not FSU and Miami are both gone in order for us to get an invite. Crazy times.

  5. We were this close to the big time. Just a few more wins in the 07-08 era and it would have cemented USF into the "Big time" football school status forever.

USF would have never had to worry about conference hopping. Someone would have gladly accepted USF into their conference. The recruits would have continued to roll in.

I'm afraid USF will never get to that level again in this watered down Big East. It's just too much of a disrespected conference for a team to make that type of noise again. I hope I am wrong. Oh, what might have been.

So Syracuse and Rutgers, possibly UConn are of the "Big time" football school status??

Don't forget other football powerhouses like Utah, Colorado, Missouri, and Maryland that were sucked up by "bigger" conferences in the last 2 years.

  6. I have always said I would never give up my seats would at least give at a Green Jacket level annually as long as it was not a financial burden.

If they fire Skip right after the Pitt game (within 48-72) hours, then I will definitely renew.

If it looks like Doug is going to bury his head in the sand and let this clown drive our program further into the ground, then I will have to make a decision for the first time since becoming a season ticket holder. Since Doug refuses to answer emails and hides from the public, our only way to voice our displeasure is by not giving the program money. However, if we want the program to get where we need to be, we need to be expanding our donor pool and season ticket base. Not drying it up. Especially with all this conference realignment mess going on. Having a tiny season ticket base and an empty stadium is only going to hinder us getting a life line to a better conference. Its a real catch 22. We all just have to hope that Greg's sources are wrong and that Skip will be fired. Otherwise, I am torn as to what to do.

  7. If these rumors are true, then by my count we are the only one of the 8 Big East football schools from last year to have not been thrown a life line.

That is how far we have fallen. We are the fat, goofy kid in gym class that no one wants on their team. Its amazing to me. Big TV market, fertile recruiting ground, our football team has been ranked as high as #2 in the BCS over the past 5 years, etc.

Has Skip Holtz changed the perception of our program that fast in 3 years?

  8. If this is true, our focus needs to move on to firing the administrators. Judy, Doug, and Bill.

All 3 are clearly incompetent or have some sort of personal agenda that is tied to this clown. Whatever it is, it is not in the best interest of our university and especially our football program to allow this guy to drive our program further into the ground.

I have always said I will never stop my donations to USF athletics, this has given me pause. We are watching administrators. its Skip or its you. You decide.

  9. As much as I dislike USF from a rivalry standpoint, I would be an idiot to not recognize the potential of USF. Some of you should do the same when it comes to UCF. Both schools have MASSIVE potential. The upside is ridiculous. Just imagine how good these two schools could be IF.... .... .... they weren't coached by Skip Holtz and GOL.

i agree with this 100%. UCF and USF as a pair are even stronger IMO.

  10. None of this conference expansion has taken into account the recent success of teams. If it did, Texas A&M and Mizzou would NOT be in the SEC.

    And Nebraska?

USF wasn't picked for the BE because of their recent success either.

Exactly. The ACC took Syracuse and Pitt from the Big East...hardly football powerhouses.

The Big 10 is taking Maryland and Rutgers....Maryland is an awful football program and Rutgers has gotten competetive since Schiano took over, but they are one of the worst programs in the history of college football.

It seems like academic prestige is really weighed heavily in these moves.

  11. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever seen in sports. Outside of the SEC, these new so called power 5 conferences are basically 2 or 3 elite or very good programs that are mixed in with some just plain awful programs.

The ACC for instance has Duke, Wake, Maryland, VA, NC State, BC, soon to be Syracuse, etc. etc. etc. and these schools are in the "power 5".

PAC12 has Utah, Colorado, Washington State, Oregon State, etc..

It is beyond frustrating. Somehow a program like ours that has loads of potential and has proven in the past we can beat anybody is going to be left out. We are the 9th largest school in the nation and are located in the heart of the heaviest recruited state in the nation. The Big12 has a ton of TX schools that are 2nd fiddle to UT. How do schools like USF and UCF get left out? Heck UCF is the 2nd largest school in the nation and they are left out? I can't stand UCF, if you take your fandom out of it and think about it for a second...it makes no sense.

The 2nd and 9th largest schools in the country are left out and Duke and Baylor are in. Makes sense...

  12. I thought the lower bowl was sold out to season ticket holders and the 2nd level was 2/3 sold out to season ticket holders.

How can't it sell out? There can't be that many tickets available for any game this year if those #'s are correct and this is the season opener, new Dome, UCF, etc.

I would be shocked if its not sold out. If its not, then they are lying to us about the season ticket sales.

  13. Boy, the good news just keeps on coming.

As soon as it looked like we were going to come out of all of this OK...the Big East gets kicked in the nuts again.

Its so ridiculous. Doesn't matter what we do on the field. Meanwhile power houses like Duke, Northwestern, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Washington State, Colorado, etc. are in the "Power Conferences" and the Big East schools are not.

    Unbelievable.
