For whatever it's worth... that was all pre-targeting. When you watch even the best teams, none of them hit with that level on intensity any more. The way tackling is taught is a lot more about technique than power these days.
Not disagreeing with the fact these guys don't seem to be coached well... but you should never expect to see that level of hitting ever again. Even with Alabama v Ohio State.
I am embarrassed to admit I am at the UF vs UK game because I married a Gator and this is the one USF game I will miss.
But it does give me a chance to see what REAL FOOTBALL looks like.
These players aren't afraid to hit. They aren't afraid of anything.
Because they are committed to their craft.
I don't see the same from USF.
My jersey with USF logos on it here may as well be a passport to Thailand.

We arm tackle AT BEST. We can't get our play call to the players fast enough for the grass to grow. Because our DC calls from the box, where he can't win the chess match because he is TOO.****.SLOW. And frankly, our adjustments are slow as molasses on both sides of the ball. This is just not acceptable. This score should look very different, and so should last week's have looked very different. That team was simply sound fundamentally. They didn't need an "Illegal Forward Motion" call to beat us. They just needed to be coached soundly.
We have shown growth in some positions, but y'all, Gerry B looked a million times better at Baylor. Because the coaches KNEW HOW TO USE HIM. He also had players around him who were coached how not to be scared to catch a ball... because.... call the waaaaaaahmbulance.... they might get hit.
Players under Leavitt were NASTY. They hit HARD. We heard Ben Moffitt's hits in the 300 level. We heard Mike and Trae lock it down from 275. They gave BETTER than they got. Their coaches spent hours and hours and hours watching film to figure out how to beat their opponents. Leavitt himself spent hours and hours on film alone. The man likely spent 200 hours a week watching film. I can't fault a fella with a wife and kids, but I see a large gap in commitment, unless the effort has been there and widely not bearing fruit. Even the kickers, like my buddy Justin Geisler, ran every mile with the rest of the players. Every suicide. Every pushup. Because they WANTED TO. Because their brotherhood and their coach made them want it.
This team doesn't WANT IT. They clearly don't. They don't play like it and they don't act like it. I can only assume that their coaches don't foster that desire within them. Because they don't EARN IT. I have zero doubt that I work more hours in a week than this team works in two. Sure, the risk of people dying if I don't bust my rear, which I face, outweighs the current motivating factors. But under Leavitt, I knew the players worked harder than I do. I saw it. I heard it. It was obvious. THEY CARED.
These days, I don't see that same fire. I don't see that same desire. I expect someone who wants to be a master of their craft to work tirelessly towards it. I don't see that. I don't see it from the players, and I don't see it from the coaches. And I just can't defend it anymore.
I put my money where my mouth is. We are Iron Bulls and we are paying a donation monthly to add to $50K to the IPF. This is not a random mouth running. And I never want to say anything bad about the Bulls. Because they are my team, they are my people. But I need to see a remotely similar commitment to their craft as I put in for mine.
Or they just aren't who we thought they were.
And I can only blame 18 yr olds so much for that.

I am seriously worried. My Beef Studs have painted up for EVERY.SINGLE.HOME.GAME. since 2002. In our 20th year, they are having a seriously hard time recruiting new members.
AND I DON'T BLAME THEM.
The product on the field has been VERY difficult for all but the most hardcore fans to keep supporting.
I don't want this tradition to die like Bulls Outfitter did when the team started to suck horribly. But this is a decade of suck. Y'all... I don't know what I'll do if we can't turn it around ASAP. Remembering that in 2007 we could pull it out against bigger opponents is only gonna last so long.

I also cannot defend a DC who does not coach from the field. Sorry, not sorry.

I don't think I can defend the coaching staff anymore. That is all.

Hey y’all! So, we scoped out the lot. It’s huge and can fit the 52+ spots we need. HOWEVER the owner will not let us pay to reserve in advance. It’s $60 a spot, +60 for a tent if you’re bringing one. We’re getting there at 9am when it opens. The earlier you arrive, the better the spots. For all of us to be in a group the earlier you get here the better. We’d suggest aiming for before 2pm, ideally before noon. However, his lot does not sell out until around 4pm for a 7pm game. There will be plenty of room for everyone, and there is a port-a-potty on the lot. If you're arriving later than 4pm, there are lots of other lots nearby, but they may also be filled. This lot fits our needs the best even though we can't reserve in advance so we're giving everyone a week notice We look forward to seeing y’all next weekend!
Lot Address: 305 NW 20th St, Gainesville FL 32603 -

Lot Address: 305 NW 20th St, Gainesville FL 32603IF you would like to guarantee a parking spot in advance, we are also reserving spots at a house at 112 NW 19th St, Gainesville FL 32603, also $60/spot. No room for tents, just parking. This is for folks who want to reserve a spot and walk a block to our tailgate lot (or are joining later and want to ensure close parking). It is a block walk to the stadium. Only way to be assured a spot is to tweet @DaniKara or let us know on the Facebook event page and Venmo to Dani (who is paying the owner for all spots directly).

I'll be honest with y'all, I find it hard to respect someone who isn't in and around his staff and players. Or should I say... it would take more to earn that respect. If it works, then it works. But I question the idea of calling plays from the box. Takes longer to communicate, keeps you aloof to on the field issues you only see and ameliorate by being present. I wouldn't ask my staff to do anything I wouldn't do and I need to be around them to witness when unspoken issues pop up. Can't fix what you aren't around to see, and can't be seen to care if you aren't around to be seen.

Maybe we were pulling a few here and there but i have a hard time believing we were beating the big three. If we were we would have been winning championships.
We weren't beating the big 3 more than they beat us. But on several recruits a year, we WERE beating the big 3.

This. We have never been anywhere near FSU status. Even if we beat them that one time back in...? Ahh hell back when I was younger.
We were absolutely beating the big 3 for recruits towards the end of Leavitt's tenure. Again, had he stayed, a QB named Teddy Bridgewater was committed to USF privately to CJL... then switch to Louisville when Leavitt was fired.

The team will definitely make strides this season. I don't expect us to beat Florida or BYU, but I think we will look much better than the past 3 years.

Yeah, the idea that we beat BYU is very 2007.
I would be happy if we kept it within a few TDs, considering the season openers we've had the past several years since Wisconsin.

Awesome!! We're also planning a USF fan group lot. We're in talks to rent out a lot that is right next to the stadium. Since your lot is out by the RVs, you'll be taking the shuttle in ahead of game time, and you'll be saving a ton of money since it is free to park out there. If you're interested, find us on your way to the stadium and stop by! Not posting the address yet because it isn't finalized, but we're looking at a 30-car lot right across University. Will post address here at TBP when it's known, as well as in our FB even group here:
USF @ UF Bulls Fan Tailgate (Event Now Public)
This will be the event page for the USF fan tailgate lot for the game in Gainesville. Stay tuned here for details as they emerge! Location: Lot TBD. We're going up a week early...- 3

Hell... If we keep it close ill be excited.
Sept 2, 2021 - NC State 45 / USF 0
Sept 19, 2020 ND 52 / USF 0 (2nd game)
Aug 30, 2019 - Wisc 49 / USF 0
Based on our opener stats the last three years, i can't get excited about opening day anymore.
Yes, the bar is not sky high.
Not getting our balls crushed would be a plus.

All I know is that I'll touch myself inappropriately
I respectfully move to challenge and expand the designation of what, in the case of beating BYU, should be considered inappropriate. May I have a second?

I can't keep up with all the rumors and whatnot.
But gawd I wish the ACC would call us up.

Can't wait for next season to start already! I'm betting a fair number of us will travel for the football game in Louisville. Naturally, I have a history of fanning the away-game tailgate flames. I am willing to drive up with a trailer and bring some tents and speakers, but wouldn't mind help throwing together a big USF fan tailgate. Would anyone be interested to pitch in and help coordinate food?

I dislike the slime green. I think it detracts from our appearance and the message we are trying to send.
Traditional colors and appearances say "we take this seriously, we are here to compete, we are a real University and a legitimate athletic contender."
Off colors and designs are distracting, and aside from fun, appealing things like throwback jerseys and military appreciation uniforms, the slime, soflo, and the like are just attention-seeking distractions which do not project the message we should be trying to send to audiences, opponents, and P5 conferences alike.
I miss the Leavitt model. Dark green, dark gold, traditional logos and appearance. We are here to smash mouths and take names, not look fancy while failing at our primary purpose.
