  1. So does that mean you admit this is a rivalry To a certain degree I can agree with what you said, and like I said I'm not making a big deal of it. Didn't care for it, but no biggie really. BUT just look at what happened to Miami after they stomped on UL's logo today. Of course they paid them back for that immediately...we'll just have to wait 365 days 8-)
  2. You made the plays you had to to win the game, you brought a very nice size crowd, and I had not a SINGLE bad experience with USF fans. And I was on the side of the stadium where USF fans where at so I ran into a lot of them. Sure I had some exchanges, but all in good fun with smiles on both sides. So mad respect. A USF fan on our board said he had no issues with any UCF fans so I hope you all had the same experience. Not to turn this into another should you/shouldn't you play this game every year, but I just can't see how any fan in that stadium wouldn't want this game. The stadium was electric, the players AND coaches were pumped, hell I even thought the mascots had an extra hop in their step. If I'm being honest- the only thing that rubbed me a little wrong was the taunting from your #6 at the end of the game and your players that stomped on our logo after the game before being chased off by a cop. But to be fair it was only maybe a half dozen players or so...and I'm not really going to make that big a deal of it anyway. No sour grapes here...you guys have bragging rights AGAIN. Congrats and best of luck rest of season, although I still hate you guys! PS- That QB you guys have there is something else, I'm VERY impressed. Looks like you will be in good hands for four years.
  3. You are entitled to your opinion but not sure I understand how this statement helps your case. Don't you think having 65k fans in the stadium will help elevate your program faster than having 30k for Buffalo? If we got crowds like that I'm sure it wouldn't be long before ESPN started picking it up, what other non-BCS team could you play OOC and get national TV coverage?
  4. Sorry to jump in here...I'm sure you aren't interested in another UCF fans opinion, but well suck it up! Reading some threads on this board I can't help but make the following observation. I have to question whether some of your fans are so absolutely fixated on making USF a national power that they aren't going to fully enjoy the ride to getting there. I'm not saying you shouldn't worry about how your school can get to where you want it to be the fastest, I feel the same for my school- but at the same time don't lose site of why you love USF and college football to begin with. To me at least, college football is all about passion, tradition, rivalry, and school pride. For me playing a school that is <100 miles down the street, one in which I have friends and co-workers who have attended, is one way to bring out the best things about college football. Then add to that it makes for an easy roadtrip, one in which I don't have to spend $1000 to go to so it means another game I get to watch in person- BIG BONUS. That is how I feel and although I could be wrong I suspect that is how more of you might feel if you weren't so worried how this game will affect your national standing. Obviously I don't think playing packed stadiums on national TV will do anything to hurt your school's image, but let's just use your arguement and say it does. With a 12 game season, can one game do that much damage? In other words regardless of whether or not you play UCF if you take care of business in your other OOC games and more importantly in your conference games don't you think all that you want for the program will take care of itself? Then you get the best of both worlds because the fans get what they want (regardless of what is said on here all the USF fans I know want this game and then look at the USF student tix) and your program achieves what you've always hoped for. I guarantee if you beat the 2 BCS OOC opponents and go 7-1 in the BE with a victories over UL and WVU then no one is going to say...that USF program is BIG TIME-- oh wait nevermind their rival is UCF. Am I wrong? Also I'd like to refute the arguement I've seen on here that if the shoe was on the other foot UCF fans would feel the same. Well I can only tell you with 110% honesty that is not the case for this UCF fan. I don't care if UCF got an invite to the SEC tomorrow I'd still want to play...heck I've wanted to play you guys every year since you started playing 10 years ago- even though at first we were "ahead" of you at that time. My wanting of this game has nothing to do with using it as a way to elevate our program, instead it's all about rivalry, bragging rights with friends, and school pride. It's just such a nature fit... Lastly I just want to say I think both our fan bases are very lucky because we get to watch our programs grow from the ground up and that will help us to appreciate things SO MUCH MORE than fans of the Big Three who've only known winning from the start. That is why the ride to the top is going to be such fun, just don't get too caught up with your ambitions to enjoy the journey there! Looking forward to Saturday, safe travels for those coming over.
  5. FYI...this guide has been updated after getting some great suggestions from other UCF fans so you may want to check it again! http://www.ucftailgate.com/gameday/guide.html
  6. I think you know this, but just to be clear SR 441 = Orange Blossom Trail (OBT) 1) It is exit #80B and it is not the same thing as 408. Taking 408 to SR 441/17-92 is a little faster b/c it's all expressway. Getting off at the I-4 exit for 441 means some more lights, although it's probably only an extra 2 miles or so, so it's not THAT big deal either way. 2) If you take the OBT #80B then you shouldn't have to turn at all because that is the northbound exit so it will dump you on to OBT going in the correct direction. What lot are you looking at parking at and what time? Just keep in mind closer to game time that OBT north of 408 can be a parking lot so if you aren't coming early try to avoid that.
  7. It's $10 for the public lots, but if you go to a private lot you will pay between $10 - $20 depending on how close you are to the stadium.
  8. If anyone needs help with directions, parking, and tailgating at the UCF game see the link below for the unofficial gameday guide I've created on my site. Hope it helps! Really looking forward to the game this weekend, hope to see a lot of Green in the stadium- should make for a great atmosphere! http://www.ucfpride.com/gameday/guide.html
  9. If you care to take a look at them- there are some good crowd shots in there. http://www.ucftailgate.com Goldenbuc, in case you are avoiding rivals- it was nice to meet you man, crazy that we just happened to end up parking so close together!!! I probably won't be posting on here again, so just want to say one last time congrats on whipping us. I really think it wasn't just us sucking it up like some Knights fans say- it had a lot to do with how great your team is. I think as long as #2 has the ball you have the chance to beat any team. I'd say good luck against UL, but I wouldn't mean it- I can't root for a rival. sorry! Hope to spend another weekend in Tampa in 2007! ;D Go KNIGHTS, beat MARSHALL!
  10. This is actually my first post since the game on any board, I was trying to make sure I calmed down first. But I can't keep quiet reading this. The game aside, I have to defend my school a little bit here. The only thing I know for sure is that which I saw with my own two eyes, anything said from others could be 100% true or a bit (or a lot) exaggerated, especially if someone wants to feel a particular way. I was one of the UCF fans that got to the parking lot (lot 8 ) when they opened at 2pm and left after the final whistle. In whole hearted honesty I did not see a single fight in the parking lots or stands or anywhere the entire time. I didn't see any jerks honestly on either side. There were a few times where our fans and there fans came eye to eye and I worried a fight might break out b/c of all the yelling and screaming but to my happy surprise both ended with high fives exchanged between the rival fans. Only thing I saw was good natured ribbing- USF fans saying 16 in a row, UCF fans saying where's all your fans type thing. I'm not saying that there weren't jerks from UCF or USF, b/c there always are- and maybe I was just lucky and somehow missed all this nasty behavior that some of your fans speak of, but there is no way it could even be possibly as bad as stated here. Honestly I was pretty proud of my Knight fans- I think it pretty great that we had that type of showing considering we've lost 16 in a row. I thought we showed USF fans how passionate we are about our team and were pretty darn loud. I'm not going to sit back and let a fan from Detriot who was not at the game act like UCF fans were acting like a bunch of rioting criminals without adding my two cents. I'll post about the game later, but I will say I was EXTREMELY impressed with your team- I think you guys will do pretty darn good in the BE actually. Hall is a stud.
  11. That's awesome- even from a UCF fan's perspective. This give USF the early lead: USF: 1 UCF: 0 Great stuff, can't wait for the game- leaving for Tampa in a few hours!!! ;D
  12. Wow...and I thought that I had Black & Gold glasses.
  13. Cee...I think you are absolutely correct. After reading some posts on here I posted this on the UCF board a few days ago about USF fans not wanting this game to be a rivalry: It seems some USF fans think because they are in a BCS league now that they are God's gift to college football. They don't want to play "lesser" schools like UCF each year because it does nothing for them and they don't care about it- they only care about perception. Heck as soon as USF started playing football I wanted to play them even though they were 1AA at the time. For me its not about UCF needing this game, its about me as a fan WANTING it- and not to help the program, but to enjoy the best of what college football has to offer. All I have to say is those Bulls fans just don't get it. It's not about BCS or non-BCS. Part of what makes college football (and basketball) so great is rivalry games, there is NOTHING like it. And while there is no rule book that says rivals need to be close to each other, the majority of them are because that is when you have students who chose between the two schools, friends at the opposing schools, offices full of graduates from both schools, etc. Not to mention the fact that the short driving distance will lead to good representation from the away teams fans making for a great atmosphere. That all seems lost on some of the Bulls fans as they talk of instead developing rivalrys with schools like UL and WVU. Huh??? I will say I don't think it's all Bulls fans either as there is a USF grad at my work who has NEVER gone to a college football game in his life. Guess what- he is so pumped about this game that he is driving 2 hours to Tampa to watch this and bring 3 friends with him. He gets it, hopefully one of these days the other USF fans will too- for their own sake.
  14. Actually I think YOU got it wrong, while at the same time I think you and I are on the same page overall! ;D My point is this is the kinda game that a non-football fan can wrap his interest in. I'm not saying that he is more pumped than all the diehard USF fans that normally go to the games. I'm saying that all these USF fans that are acting like this game means nothing and playing UCF each year isn't productive because we aren't BCS or whatever are dead wrong. This is a game that can and will generate interest beyond both our school's diehards and beyond even the average curious college football fan. As much as some USF fans hate to admit it, it is a natural rivalry! And back to my USF buddy who is going, I wouldn't write those type fans off that quick. What if he goes to the game and says- WOW what have I been missing and decides to come back the next week when you guys play UL? Suddenly thanks to THIS particular game being played its possible you guys will have new diehard fans. Same goes for UCF as I know some people going to Tampa that don't normally to our home games.
