  1. No, they're not Big East material. But the money could be set to build up the new sports so that the entire athletic department can be represented in the conference. As of now, football/basketball/baseball will compete in the Big East at a respectable level. USF won't be the Rutgers of the Big East. But you also can't expect to just throw money at a select few sports and assume those sports will automatically be top notch. Plus, walking into the Big East will provide plenty of money through BCS contracts and the such, much more than USF is scoring through CUSA.
  2. To have the best athletic department in a big time conference, you first have to field all the sports for that conference. He needs to add sports like Men's and Women's Swimming to the department before making proclamations like that. Facilities are nice, but if you don't have an entire slate covered, you're not making noise as an entire Athletic Department in the conference.
  3. How about adding a real swimming pool facility so we can field a swim team when we enter the Big East. USF will be the only school (other than bball-schools DePaul and Marquette) that will not field a swim team in the Big East this next fall.
  4. USF Women's Swimming won a national title in 1985 in Division II. They dropped the program I believe in 1987, both men's and women's. I can't find any other information beyond those years. Can't really find a reason why, either.
  5. I'm trying to push for a men's and women's swim team at USF. In terms of Title IX, it would be a wash. It won't cost much to start up a team since there's already a facility. The Big East is a semi-respectable swimming conference, where USF will be the only major school (outside of the 2 basketball schools joining, Depaul and Marquette) that doesn't have a swim team. Add to that the fact that Florida is a huge recruiting ground for swimming, and this seems too logical.
  6. 1) Definitely not Spurrier. I'll go with Monty Kiffin, just to throw a name out there. 2) Swimming 3) Family Guy or the Simpsons 4) Not until playoff time, the season is too long 5) Tate's
  7. I've been trying to figure this out. It's not listed on USF's site. Does he have one through the athletic department or school, or do you have to go through his secretaries or something?
