  1. Yes, BleacherBull I certainly remember our home games at the Tampa Armory and home games at Curtis Hixon Hall in downtown Tampa. We even played a home game at the gymnasium on campus against Manatee Junior College. We were 19-4 that first year playing junior varsity teams around the state and junior college teams. We beat the Gators junior varsity in our very first Basketbull game! We played a full varsity schedule our second year and had a record of 8-19 I think. Our team was composed only of our original freshmen (now sophomores) and a few new kids right out of high school.

  2. Basketbull,

Thanks for forgiving me for being Steve Mazza's buddy. Steve and I go back to 1975 when we were both managers for the men's basketbull team. I was a manager my freshman year in 1971-72. It was our first varsity team. The program started in 1970-71 with a junior varsity team. We played jv teams and junior college teams around the state. We were 19-4 that first year. I have great memories from that time. Anyway, Steve Mazza may go a bit overboard at times but he truly bleeds green and gold!

  3. I was just reading Andy Katz's column on ESPN.com. (I don't know how to get the link here). He says Doug Woolard was at Gregg Marshall's house Tuesday night. Gregg Marshall was considering flying to Tampa tonight (Wednesday) for further talks with our AD. According to Andy Katz if Marshall does not get the USF job then Fran Faschilla (ESPN college basketball analyst and former St. John's coach) might be considered for the job here. The article also says USF wanted Anthony Grant but he is staying at VCU. Very interesting stuff!

  4. My home in Coral Springs is only about a twenty minute drive to Lockhart Stadium. I will be very surprised if the game is moved to Dolphins Stadium. We Bulls should greatly outnumber the FAU fans in attendance. I have not yet been to a footbull game and can't wait to see the team in person. I was the first manager of the USF Basketbull team in 1971-72. Back then football was certainly a fantasy for us  Golden Brahman fans.
