  1. He had academic problems, I cant tell you how many times he took the SAT in order to get the minimum FSU needed, he academically did not do well in HS. A fellow Nole SPC NCAA athlete said he was not doing well there academically there either.
  2. I like Dr. Mixa- all of his kids (6 of them I think) goto school with my brother in St. Pete- I'm just trying to switch my drs. to Tampa to avoid all the commutes Im making for everything, I think I would be happier with a good Tampa ortho. and not worry about a 2 hour round trip drive each time.
  3. I didnt even think about contacting athletics, thats how I got ref. to my first surgeon- Ill try calling them. thanks for all the suggestions, Im picky with you is going to slice and dice my leg.
  4. I can name 3 instances from when I did my sit in for internship where he spit on a female, yelled at a female teacher and walked out because he didnt want to sit properly in his desk, and putting down female in the class room. I think if the school would of cracked down on him more and punished him, not "turn the other cheek" to his antics, he might of shaped up; its hard to say though. I've heard other things he did while at SPC through my sister and her friends, but I won't comment on them since I did not see those first hand.
  5. I really wish I could use FOI but my insurance faulted them, even though they have no control that my bones have pushed out my screws and plate. I've seen work from a couple of the drs. in there and they do a really good job with minimal scaring and I've never heard anyone say anything bad about them.
  6. It should be a good game. The Frozen Tide have an amazing coaching staff, including their head coach who won 2 NCAA National Championships while playing for UofA-Huntsville. Their asst. coach also played college and pro. They have a well rounded team, and the Ice Bulls look forward to showing everyone a good game... practice is at 5:30 this morning, so we'll get to see the new talent we have for this semester.
  7. I am looking for an orthopedic surgeon. I was seeing a Dr. in St. Pete, but I didn’t like his “bed side†manner and he was 3 hours late to both my appointments. I can not use any doctor in the Florida Orthopedic Institute, as my insurance won’t pay for them since its “their mistake†and I prefer not to use Dr. Guttentag’s office. The doctor must be in Tampa (no Pinellas or Pasco). Any good or bad expierences with doctors would be useful- I have already had a major surgery 4 years ago with a college soccer injury and my metal is pushing itself out of my leg and I need a doctor that can remove and replace, and leave minimal scaring. The 1st dr. did an amazing job with leaving minimal scaring even with the amount of work they did for a total reconstruction. Help an injured Bull out J
  8. Aaron Holmes has a really bad attitude. I was really disappointed when I saw he was transfering to USF. He has the talent, but his attitude to authority and women need to change.
  9. The University of South Florida Ice Bulls (11-4) will take on the University of Alabama Frozen Tide for a double header starting Friday at 11:30pm and Saturday at 9:30pm. A new set of rankings will come out following these games, a win could possibly move USF up a spot better seeding us for regionals in Atlanta the first weekend of Feb. The Ice Bulls will be raffling off an autographed Tampa Bay Lighting stick and St.Pete Times Forum gift card. All money raised this weekend will be going to the USF Ice Bulls Regional Travel Fund. T-shirts and jerseys will be avaliable for purchase at the game, and the merchandise page will be up on the website this week. Any questions can be asked through here or e-mail (USFiceBulls@AOL.com)
  10. They should be in the 1st week before the Alabama game, in both colors. You can get your name or number if you want added through two different places (both local) for .75 a letter and 1.50 a number I believe (I will get the exact price on Tuesday when they open back up.) We should have several more Ice Bulls "U" licensed items avaliable soon, in addition to the shirts, jerseys and pucks.
  11. The next set of games are the 1st weekend from we get back from school against University of Alabama- these games are the only games before out 4th set of rankings. We have 5 home games in January all in Brandon before regionals in Atlanta the 1st weekend of Feb. All the games in January are crucial because they will seed us for the regional tournament, the higher we are the "weaker" team we will play in the 1st round (1 plays 8, 2 plays 7 etc) We have one away game in Jan. at ERAU- the Daytona Beach fire marshall closes down eentry every game because of capicity, they get 1,000 students at every game. It is a mad house in there. The schedule can be found at www.icebulls.org
  12. everything from now on will have the "U" logo as we are paying to use that. the merchandise page should be functioning by the 1st week back to school with the two (gray and dark green) USF hockey shirts, pucks and the new jerseys for sale. thanks for the thanks I mostly try and stay behind the scenes and keep the team running smooth- next time say hi, Im the one at the "gate".
  13. If you could like to see the Ice Bulls in the St. Pete Times please write an email to following address: sptsnews@sptimes.com Here is a link to the last article published Feb. 2004 that talked a significant amount about the Ice Bulls. http://www.sptimes.com/2004/02/10/Sports/Growing_Cool.shtml
  14. We have been working with channel 8 and the media productions group since October for this story, I was really glad both the story and article were well done. The article really shows the level, as well as the fianicial responsibilities the team commits themselves to so we can run our season. The link to the video that aired, as well as interview from our coach and captain can be viewed here. http://www.tbo.com/sports/bulls/MGB63Q047WE.html Our last home game on 12/9 was a season high attendance with 700 fans and several hundred dollars was raised to benefit the Jimmy V Foundation (cancer research), Moffit and Shriner's Hospital. January 12th (11:30pm) and 13th (9:30pm) the Ice Bulls take on the University of Alabama at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum. Autographed Tampa Bay Lightning merchandise will be raffled off and a portion of money raised at the door will be given to a selected charity of the night. The team is also taking sponsors for regionals, hosted by the University of Georgia and Kennesaw State, the first weekend of Feb. in Atlanta, Georgia. The Elite 8 regionals, will take the top 8 teams in the south and have them compete for a National spot. The trip will cost the team $8,000 and all donations are tax deductable, and a sponsorship package can be sent by contacting the team through email or phone listed below. 15. 8-1 the first night UCF. USF did have 3 players ejected and 1 DQ'd; a lot of good hitting by both teams. It was 2-1 going into the 3rd and the stupid penalities and ejections cost the team. Believe it or not our goal tending was good, we pulled our starter to rally the guys after his shots were doubled and it didnt work and it caused several goals in the last 3 minutes of the game. 4-2 the second night. Im not sure on if there were any fights, I have to work home games... but I can tell you we raised several HUNDRED dollars to donate to the Jimmy V Foundation, St. Jude's Research Hospital and Shriner's. It was standing room only at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum. The Ice Bulls are 11-4 and our next home games are against the University of Alabama when we come back from break in January Friday 11:30pm and Saturday9:30pm. Come "roll over the tide" with us!
  16. USF 4 UCF 2 I think its a class act when one of your fans come in the USF tunnel attempting to push players when coming off the ice. If one of USF's fans ever did that the HCSO would immediately step in and action would be taken. ACHA is inconsistent-- you see good teams and you see bad teams- UF isnt a good team, one can rack up goals. KSU has horrible goal tending, we capitalized on our few shots to make it that high-- where our goalie had 60+ shots. If you go to the KSU page you can see how the school recruits Junior players to come down, on top of the talent they get from other area scouts in canada-- making them one of the better programs.
  17. Big game tomorrow night (and tonight). If you are in the Orlando area we play at RDV in Maitland at 10pm. If not I hope to see everyone out tomorrow to support some good causes and see some good hockey! GO BULLS!
  18. From the way the Knights have been playing they should be wearing skirts ;D UCF went to nationals last year after some chaos in the south region... USF is regional bound right now after wins against ranked teams during the tournament. 9-8 is high scoring, but anyone who was there can vouch for the intensity during the game. as stated below it is a men's hockey team, but behind any guy is a woman running things Now everyone come out and win some stuff and help out some charities!
  19. Everyone come out on Saturday! We have hundreds of dollars worth of items we are giving away and raffling off. MONEY RAISED ARE GOING TOWARDS 3 DIFFERENT CHARITIES! Come out and support your regional bound Ice Bulls and support good causes as well. FREE with your USF ID!
  20. I will get the information together including where we are staying by Friday, it was nice meeting you and the rest of the Atlanta alumni as well. I hope we showed you a good game. All the rest of the Ice Bulls home games are at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum, 15 minutes from campus off of 60.
  21. On December 9th @ 9:30pm USF (10-3) will take on I-4 rivals UCF. Just for showing up with your USF ID you are able to win prizes such as resturant gift cards, USF merchandise, autographed Lightning items and much more! Prizes given away for USF spirit, for signs- green and gold clothes- face paint and anything else that expemflies the USF spirit! After losing to the #3 team in the country on Sunday morning in a close 9-8 game, the USF Ice Bulls have earned a spot for themselves in Regionals in Feb. Against the top 8 teams from AL, FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, TN, MD and the DC area. This is the last home game of the semester for USF, until season resumes in January. We want everyone out in full force for the game on Dec. 9th, the WBUL and several other media outlets will be present. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see at the hockey game, please leave a comment about your idea. USF hockey merchandise will be on sale during the game.
  22. We won the Clemson game 7-1 Friday and 5-1 against MTSU tonight to win the Georgia Tech Children's Hospital Tournament. We face KSU at 9:45am tomorrow morning.
  23. The Ice Bull are leaving within the hour for Atlanta where they will play in a tournament that will highly effect the next rankings. MTSU, Clemson and KSU are on the list-- 3 games in 36 hours. The Ice Bulls also raised a lot of toys to donate to the Scotish Rite Children's Hospital in honor of the tournament. Atlanta Alumni Association- USF hockey t-shirts will be on sale at both games. I will be the only female with a USF hoodie there with a large green hockey bag of t-shirts. They are $15 for gray (S-XL), the green from last season are $10 medium only left. I can be reached by email prior to both games usficebulls@aol.com
  24. you can fly out of St Pete airport into Chattanoga, TN which is 2 hours from Birmingham-- it is 84 (that includes tax too) and rent a car and drive. As mentioned ATL is 2 hours away, Air Trans is a main hub there, but prices arent looking good. When we went up for hockey we stayed right outside Birmingham in Pelham and I was really happy with the normal prices of hotels and food/ entertainment in the area.
  25. Georgia Tech Children's Hospital TournamentUSF plays Clemson at 11 PM on Fri, Dec. 1- Duluth Rink USF plays MTSU at 10 PM on Sat, Dec.2 - Duluth Rink Kennesaw State University Sun, Dec. 3rd @ 11am at the Cooler Rink. I can post the addresses for both rinks if needed. We would love the alumni to come out, GT brought out a pretty big GT alumni group from Tampa Bay and I would love to show them up!
