  1. From this morning's Trib Moneysense.  Another rumor busted.  And nothing about a Best Buy going in either... http://tampatrib.com/Business/MGBBZHFU0DE.html With Winn-Dixie stores dropping like flies, maybe a stadium can go it at the corner of Fowler and 301 instead.  A friend of a friend of a 2nd cousin of my ex wife who worked concessions at Big Top Flea Market and took a class at USF 3 years ago told me that might happen ÂÂ
  2. Link mentioned in this morning's Trib: www.famu-usf.com They're really hyping it up for the local Rattler fans.  It SHOULD be "www.usf-famu.com"  >
  3. I'm actually in agreement with most of you...Would I bring a 3-month old papoose to a game?  I'm inclined to say no.  But it's been 15 years since I've had a rugrat that size, and unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to even consider taking him to any Bulls games then :-( Love the Jr. Bulls Club idea, but I think the kid will have to wait a few years before he can sit with the other kids ;-) Some of your arguments were pretty amusing...Sounds like there's a lot of baby phobia out there!  Babies should be charged because they take up space (that would be "air"--not a seat, which was my original argument), because they cry, and because they're babies.  Nice. How many of you actually sat next to a parent who let their baby cry through a whole game?  Or quarter?  I have never seen that.  Any parent who does oughtta be shot (well, at least get dragged out by Rocky himself!) One benefit that many of you single, kid-free guys fail to think about--babies are chick magnets--especially when dressed in Bulls gear.
  4. A friend of mine went to the Bucs game last night with her hubby and 3 month old boy, and it turns out that the Glazer Money Monger Machine has a policy that ALL bodies--even NEWBORNS--are required to have their own ticket! WHA?!?!  Apparently everybody near her at the ticket window was just as appalled when they heard about it, and fortunately somebody nearby had an xtra freebie to give them. Absolute bull****.  Anybody know if this asinine policy is the same for Bulls games?  Or does the greediness just apply to Bucs games?  I am just in shock that those scum would require a purchase for a baby that's going to be sitting in a lap the entire game anyway!!!
  5. Gators Dockside is mediocre for the most part, and we only go if we need to do a last-second emergency happy hour (just blocks away from the abode...so it's convenient).  I never thought it was Gator-centric. On the otherhand, the Clubhouse Sports Grill (behind Applebees) has far superior food and service, and way more TV screens, and most importantly are extremely USF-friendly.  The owner is a helluva nice guy.  If any of y'all are in the Gators Dockside / Applebees / Clubhouse vincinity...Do the Clubhouse!
  6. Thought you locals would be interested...Was driving down Fowler towards I-275 today, and saw a Banner in front of the old Hops restaurant for "The Bull Ring Sports Bar".  The "U" was our very own iconic one. Looks like they're converting the old Hops to a USF-tailored sports bar!  :-) Though they still have quite a bit of work to do before grand opening.... Anybody got the scoop on that?
  7. I called the Lightning office a couple weeks ago and was told all of the $199 12-packs were sold out.  This not the case?  And they also told me it was for the top 3 rows on the terrace-level, although the website says top 5 rows.  Sounds like a little adjustment was made after realizing the demand for them!?  > Regardless, all of the seats up on the terrace-level sideline are awesome, but this really is one of those venues where there isn't a bad seat in the house. I'm going in on a pair of half-season tix, and am really hoping to get to that first game as well!
  8. Out of curiousity...Does the Metrorail stop anywhere near the stadium?
  9. We need to win just to keep the CFN prediction (of 4-7) from happening and prove them wrong again!
  10. I've watched them practice a time or two and have met some of them, and can honestly say that many are quite cute, and some just absolutely stunning!
  11. For any of you rugby fans, here's a nice recent blurb about the USF Women's rugby team (a club team) and some of their star players:
  12. Interesting Top 10 list of college football helmets.  You can submit a response, including your own favorite that wasn't on the list (hint:  USF's iconic "U" helmet).  http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writers/pete_mcentegart/11/19/ten.spot/index.html
  13. Interesting...Twice I've been to the new Cracker Barrel next to campus, and all they had was FSU and UF stuff.  I complained to the nearest clerk each time about how they could be next to campus and not support the home school, and each time they just kind of shrugged their shoulders.  It's been a few months...anybody know if they finally got on the ball? On a similar note, the Publix on Fowler near 56th generally has a small USF display in front.  For awhile it seemed to have been taken over by FAMU gear.  What's up with that?!?!?  Speaking of gear, it's the new attire phenom--the Hawiian USF shirt.  Very cool shirts, and a huge number of fans at the games and tailgates wearing them.  Guess it's a good thing, but it ain't quite the same now that everybody's got one.  I want to see a cool tye-dye shirt now!!!
  14. Duemig is obnoxious, but I somehow wind up listening to him anyway (what choice is there?!?).  Caught him the other day while driving around, and in his own words..."There's nothing better than SEC football".  He could give a **** about USF football. Some young guy called in and asked him about Rubin being on the Bucs practice squad and asked if he had a chance to get picked-up.  Duemig replied that he didn't know who Rubin was, except that he played for USF, and topped it off by saying there was no way that Gruden would put him on the team.  Oh yeah...he reiterated several times how he didn't know "who Rubin was".  He'd be "developed" and perhaps play somewhere else at some point, but not with the Bucs.  Oh yeah...Duemig was obviously annoyed as he wanted to talk SEC football--how dare some nut call in and ask about the Bulls! We need to have consistently strong wins and build up our fan base before anybody on the airwaves gives us the time of day and takes us seriously!
  15. Hey All...Was at this site yesterday, and somewhere between hitting the "fearless projections" link and hitting the IE "back" button, a ton of nasty adware and one or more viruses slammed me.  It brought my old Windows ME system to its knees! Had to reformat and reinstall my OS (W2K this time).  Even the latest version of Viruscan couldn't stop much of it. Just a word of warning!
  16. Figured I'd throw a completely different topic out there.  Don't remember anybody mentioning this before, but I was p*ssed when I drove into Lot 5 before the Tenn Tech game, where I was given a list of the latest boneheaded RayJay rules--including no tossing the ball or playing catch in the parking lots (which was bolded, by the way). In the past couple of years myself and a couple of our tailgaiting crew have gotten into our share of arguments with the parking nazis.  They've tagged me before for playing catch with my son--a NERF ball at that!--and I'm in utter disbelief that they would ban a tailgaiting tradition! I think this is asinine and ridiculous.  This bother anybody else out there?  Does this rule apply to all lots, including the mall lot?  How about for Bucs games?  Is this getting to be the trend at other stadiums as well?
