Important Message from Director of Athletics Mark Harlan

    Dear Bulls Family:

Earlier today, the ten institutions of the Big 12 Conference elected to not expand and add new members.  We remain proud members of the American Athletic Conference and my thoughts have turned to the pride and optimism that we should all feel about our phenomenal University and Athletic Department.

We are on a path towards greatness at USF and every single member of the Bulls Family should have pride in who we are, how far we have come and what lies ahead.  Our student-athletes, coaches, staff, donors, alumni, fans and community members have propelled our program to profound success in recent years.  Just last year, USF saw nine teams advance to NCAA postseason play, above our previous mark and, in fact, better than most schools in America.  We are off to an impressive start to the 2016 sports season highlighted by a record winning streak in women’s soccer with our football program, now 6-1, undefeated and bowl eligible in the very competitive American Athletic Conference.  In the classroom, we are trending towards two straight years of our student-athletes achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a graduate success rate of 86%, two statistics that any school in this country would be proud.  We reached a near record high of annual donors in 2015-2016 and expect to add even more supporters this year.  Just last week we announced a transformational gift of $1.45 million dollars that will dramatically enhance our student-athlete service area along with supporting other key initiatives that will propel us to even greater heights.

Moving forward, as detailed in our Athletics Strategic Plan approved by the USF System Board of Trustees in May, we must continue to push for more fan support, more investment, more tremendous student-athlete experiences, more facility upgrades, more graduates and yes, more championships.  As recent history has shown, the operating rhythm of intercollegiate athletics and conference realignment suggests that there will always be change and USF will always be in the conversation.  Our roadmap for greatness is clear and we will work every day to accomplish our measurable goals.  We will need all of you, more than ever.

Finally, let me thank all of you who reached out and offered your encouragement during this process.  The USF Family came together with many in the Tampa community to tell our remarkable story to the world and we will continue to share it in the days ahead.

    GO BULLS!

Not much difference between 4 or 5.  If 3 AAC schools are taken and we aren't one of them, I'm not going to find much solace in the fact that UCF is banished to the new CUSA with us for all of eternity.

From a recruiting perspective it would be a lot worse for UCF to get in without us. If either of us gets into the B12 without the other it will be a HUGE differentiation point between the schools.

Herman stays at Houston if they make Big 12... If not he bolts... As good as he is I do not think he wants the LSU pressure cooker.

There is no creature on the planet more egotistical than a head football coach. They ALWAYS think they can do a better job than the last guy, regardless of the situation.

Of offered, he'll take the job and run... so would Taggart.

Especially 2 loss.... But, if Houston or USF go undefeated.... A one loss "p5" team should not make the cut.

Not sure what fantasy world you live in (or if you're just making a joke), but a one loss "historically good" P5 team will ALWAYS be chosen over an undefeated G5 team. The only except to that MIGHT be if the G5 team was working off a previous perfect or almost perfect season.

I don't have to like it, but that's the world we live in.

If we win Saturday, watch how fast we rocket to the top of these Big 12 expansion lists.

I'm telling you right now, watch.

The media is very reactionary, as they were when Houston beat an over-rated OU team.

I really hope our getting into the B12 doesn't require us to beat FSU this weekend. There isn't a single team currently in the B12 that would be a sure-thing to beat FSU. IF we win this weekend (and obviously I hope we do), it would be an upset (a HUGE upset in the national eye) and it isn't something that should be required to get us in.  In the same way that if we lose this weekend it shouldn't disqualify us. It's a single game.
