  1. Here is what the College Football News is projecting for the two teams in our conference champ game.

Navy vs North Texas in the Armed Forces Bowl

Temple vs WKU in the Boca Raton Bowl

For us, Boston College in St Pete Bowl, which at least is a better match up.

Nothing new, but the AAC needs better bowl games.

No team can beat Alabama. They impose their will on every one.

Ohio State was trailing Michigan the entire game and tied it with 5 seconds left. Then got help from the refs in overtime with a PI non-call and controversial spot.

If if Ohio State is so good, then Michigan should still go into the playoff to considering how close they played them.

Then we have Penn state who lost to Michigan but defeated Ohio State. So out of the 3, who is the best for a playoff?

Playoffs are to decide the national champion.  You don't win the conference you shouldn't get an invite over the conference champion.  Simple enough.

I don't think Ohio State will get an invite over Penn State if PSU wins the conference.

  3. Come on guys, the people were still too devastated from the election to attend a football game, and besides, the place is named after a republican.  Show a little heart.

Actually, many of the games I've noticed have relatively poor actual attendance these days.  It seems to be a trend that is a bit disturbing to me, a fan of the game.

This Temple game is a joke. I'm so bummed out watching this crap. I can't believe we lost to Temple. There next lost won't be until they play a decent team in a bowl game, but that doesn't help us out. I hope we get to witness USF win a championship some time in the next few decades.

That is why I continually stress that opportunities lost are never regained.  Our players and coaches will have the rest of their lives to relive that Temple game.  It would have been a much better memory if we made adjustments and if the players executed better.

Make every game count with maximum effort.

I don't think we have ever benefitted when we needed another team win for us.  It has happened a few times and I think we are always on the wrong end.

  5. The reason it didn't fill up is because people didn't care enough to go.  That simple.

I've been a season ticket holder from day one and I love going to the games.  It hurts me to see the lack of community support for this team, and I'm sure it hurts the players and coaches.  When they turn on the TV and see a packed house, or an almost packed house for so many games, it has to make them wonder why not for us?  This is the best team we've had in years, maybe ever, and the attendance just doesn't get better.  There was a lot of damage done by Holtz and the start of the Coach T era, but anybody can see we are playing pretty well now.

I don't know why so many ex fans have given up on the team or moved on, or at least don't care enough any more to buy tickets and show up, but i hope that Coach T and the young men can not let it bother them.  I am proud of my Bulls and I cheer them on whenever I can.  I'll be there with my wife for Navy in a couple weeks.

I hope we can make it to the championship game, but I almost wish it would be in Houston (closer for me with probably a better game atmosphere) except that would mean we would have to lose another game, which I would not want.

I wish more people in the Bay area could find a love for college ball.  It truly is better than the pro game.

    More stuff from Cox:

If Big 12 does go kerplunk, will be interesting to see what secondary schools go where, as a tagalong with their sister state schools, or to American or , Mountain West.  Says Iowa State would most likely end up in the  American.  Also does Group of 5 become new college division or does CFP expand to 8?

Consider what those schools are facing.  Going from 20-30 million a year for their athletics programs, down to possibly 2 or 4 million.  Some may even end up in CUSA.  They would be begging admission from schools they thought weren't good enough for them a couple years earlier.  It is going to be hard, but they probably all assume that they would be welcomed with open arms by some other P5 conference.  I think that they will find out otherwise.

Yes, but try and give your tickets away instead of not using them at all. Sometimes not all 6 of the people in our group can attend, but I'll give them away free to coworkers, other friends etc. I've gotten a couple people to buy season tickets by giving them free tickets in previous years.

I used to give my tickets away to various people when I was not going to be able to attend, but after about 8 times over the years I quit doing that.  Every time I asked how going to the game was, without exception the ticket recipients didn't end up going for some reason or another.

You can't force people to go to a game, but I can't understand why a college football fan wouldn't want to go to see this team play.  RayJay with its end zone plazas and clubs make for a lousy game atmosphere when people are not in their seats, but it is what we have, and this USF team really is worth going to see.

...Looks like it's the other way 'round

It looks like you are right.  Here's an interesting page for a number of reasons.

    http://www.tampapix.com/tampastadium.htm

"...The architectural firm of William Watson and Company designed Tampa Stadium.  The company chose to base their design of the stadium on the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee."

Here is another very interesting tidbit.

"In 1961 Mayor Julian Lane commissioned a study on the feasibility of a football stadium in Tampa. The University of South Florida was considered as a site, but the relatively new school did not want the stadium.  There was not enough support for the plan; USF was in its infancy then and Dr. John Allen (president of USF at the time) was not an athletics type guy.  He knew that if the stadium was built there, he wouldn’t have a choice but to support athletics at the school. In addition to Dr. Allen’s hesitancy, there was little public support for a tax-funded stadium. So the building of a Tampa football venue was shelved."

We could have had an OCS decades ago.
