  1. The Bucs clearly have not shown any interest in winning games this year. After every loss, we hear the same old crap about how they are focused etc and that they are confident they can turn it around. The ship has sailed folks. The season is pretty much garbage at this point. They will have to run the table and hope for a miracle to make the playoffs IMO.

This season has been a let down. A dominant defense that we could count on has failed numerous times to keep a lead late in the game. It's sad really-- this team has so much talent but they don't seem to working together and getting the job done in the clutch. It's like you go to the game and wonder which Bucs team will show up today.

I guess one good thing about this situation is the band wagon fans who climbed aboard will start jumping off if they haven't already. I know we've had some key injuries (Alstott hurts more than most can reasonably see) at skill positions and on the offensive line. But ****-- losing to the F'ing Packers really hurts.

    that was cathartic....

  2. It's a risky bet for one reason alone. OU took so much crap over beating another decent team 77-0 last week that thye might call off the dogs as early as the first half. The problem is-- even their walkons can probably beat the crap out of doggie doo Baylor.

When you see a line set at 52.5 points, there must be some kind of reason for it. I mean-- why not make it 60 points? The bookies know something and that might be underhanded. Since the BCS gives little credence to the whole margin of victory situation that the polls used to actually give rats testicles about, there  is little reason for OU to whip their ass worse than 42-0. No one will suddenly question whether or not they have leveled off.

The whole situation is quite comical. It couldn't happen to a better team.

  3. The Yankees pitching is solid, as is the rest of their team. The Marlins just out played them.

Now the Big Stein might dump a assistant coach or two but Torre is very safe IMO. Torre said as much on ESPN.

Big deal-- they won the Worlds Series again. I was more impressed by the first one than this one.

  4. Did anyone notice they addressed the on side kickoff on Monday Night Football tonight?

They examined the kick and found that because the ball never hit the ground, the defenders are required to give the receiving team the opportunity to catch the ball before they touch it. In other words, the correct call would have been a 15 yard infraction against the COLTS.

Now that's a BULLCHIT call and more importantly the blown one that could have STOPPED the comeback in its tracks.

  5. Zimmer is still responsible for his actions to some extent. Anyone with a metal plate in their skull would be wise to avoid unnecessary violent contact to their head. I think that's why he had the Sarge helmet on but I'm probably wrong. I've forgotten more about the Yankees than I can say I know.

  6. Isn't the main part of the advancing fumble rule dealing with the "intentional" part of the equation? If the fumble is being scrambled after (or in this case-- LOST) on the ground-- anyone can come along and pick it up and go in either direction. I also thought some other players from both teams touched the ball on that play. It must be a judgment call from the officials as to the intent of how the fumble occurs.

  7. Screw the Lightning for opening on a night that should have been ALL about the Bulls. They didn't have to make Firday night THE opening night, did they? We knew as early as June or July that this game was going to be on Friday night and the Lightning didn't give a crap about that fact.

Hey-- I like the Lightning-- don't get me wrong there. But if we are partnering with them on other ticket promotions etc -- why can't they agree to give us some breathing room? Plenty of their fans are our fans as well.

  8. One other thing I heard on the radio yesterday--

you CAN signal the fair catch but the other team can still grab the ball before you do. You have no protection against them hitting you or getting to the ball first. The point is that calling for a fair catch really isn't much help and typically the on side gets hit into the ground to gain height (bounce it into the ground).

I'm sure someone will dispute this-- just what I heard on the Derrick Brooks show-- someone I think we can trust as far as that goes. He said they practice that situation in training camp-- so yes, they were aware of it. But I wonder what good it would have done either way since the Colts caught it in the air. right?

  9. That is news to me-- i always thought the difference between a punt and a kickoff was the live aspect of the ball. If you don't cover the kickoff, the other team can get possession. I guess it rarely comes up that someone would want to bother calling a fair catch since most kickoffs go very deep or hit the ground quickly (squib kicks, on side kicks).

I'll take your word for it. I don't blame the players for not knowing this or thinking about it either.

  10. All he had to do was signal a fair catch on an onside kick? The ball hit the ground all ready. You can't signal a fair catch until the ball is in the air and the same goes for after it hit sthe ground. One more point-- YOU CAN'T SIGNAL A FAIR CATCH ON A KICKOFF, PERIOD! The ball is live immediately after it is kicked and can be recovered by the defense as soon as it goes 10 yards.

I thought the "leaping" call was chickenshit. That call hasn't been made EVER in the NFL from what I understand. Where those jerkwad referees pulled that lame ass call from is anyones guess. They literally gave the ball game away by letting the Colts Idiot Kicker get 15 yards closer-- and even then the dufus almost missed the chip shot off the goal post.

That was the Bucs win-- plain and simple. I can't understand even for a minute how they let that game get away from them. I know Brian Kelly is a good cover cornerback but come on-- DOUBLE TEAM Harrison!

    ugghh-- that was just horsecrap!

Two home games-- two easily avoidable losses. A championship team doesn't lose those types of ballgames. They better get their chit together and pronto if they expect to have any shot at home field advantage any time this year-- too many teams have ZERO losses already.

  11. Let's say miracles of miracles occur (and it's really not that difficult to believe they an pull this off this year) and the Flubs finally win a world series.

Do they actually lose that luvable loser luster they have abused their silly fans with for so many years?

Many people bring up the Red Sox as the ultimate team to feel sorry for but the Cubs last won a World Series in 1908. The White Sox last won in 1917. I believe the Red Sox last one was in 1918 (or is it 1915?-- I forget).

But the bottom line for me is that no one has really given the White Sox much love for being the hapless team that never wins the golden prize when they have endured nearly as long a wait as these other two teams.

  12. If it pairs the list down to those who actually want to get tickets, then so be it. If you won't part with $50 bones, are you showing any thing even resembling a going concern?

Now if the Bucs do it, I doubt I would keep my iron in the fire ONLY because I already have my season tickets. I just wanted to see how long it would take to get the call-- at this point, if they did call me, I'd buy the tickets and sell them to one of my many friends who is desperate to get in on the season ticket band wagon.

  13. I think we are getting some good work from Carl Crawford as well. Lugo and Travis Lee have made some impact.

They are fun to watch and going to the games is getting better. I'm kind of used to the warehouse they play in. Pinella has made a difference- anyone who says he hasn't or wants to dwell on past performance is being extremely short sighted.

I agree-- Winning the division (or finsihing second/wild card) is the biggest problem these guys will have. Who know sthough-- put enough successful seasons together, increase the attendance/merchandise sales, and they might have enough money to get the missing players to over come that difficult obstacle. Some injuries ot he Yankees could send them into a tailspin-- it's really about luck and timing. I like the Rays chances in the next few years.
