1. The bowl system (save the championship game) is merely pomp and circumstance. It is a reward to the players and the coaches and gives the teams valuable practice time. Although a playoff would be preferable, the bowl system is the next best option. One tweak I would like to see is more flexibility in the scheduling of the games. Imagine (as a local sports writer did a few weeks ago) if we were able to play FSU in Birmingham rather than ECU. I would like to see a bowl system that allows for more regionally attractive games then the ones we have in place, at least as far as the lesser bowl games are concerned. I think Joe posted that FSU had sold between 150 and 500 tickets to their game in California. I have to believe that number would be tremendously higher if they were in Birmingham and that would give the Emerald Bowl a more attractive regional option as well. Fans would still have to travel to games, but at least it could be more attractive match-ups.

Better yet, USF-FSU in the Outback Bowl (or at the very least) the one in Orlando.

  2. World renowned beaches within spitting distance from campus, Ybor 2 seconds away WTF are smoking?

Sure there are lot of things to do around USF, but it's not what I'd call a college town.

Attending USF and ECU  certainly are different experiences, but that does't make either one the best choice for everyone.  Different strokes for different folks.

Just curious, but how does Tampa being a port city make for a better college experience?

Haulingbull, jfcohio, whatever. The last I checked the argument was comparing Greenville to Tampa. Thats what I was doing. No go back to hating on USF and trolling. Maybe one day you will find a 300 pound lady/gorilla who will lay you. Until then don't address my posts.

"College towns" are what little **** cities are called (ie Gainsville) that have nothing but the campus, so the only way to survive is to bust out the Keg.

Just look at ECU, they are arguing they have more to do by driving an hour and a half away. You wanna go cow tipping then head to a college town. Then again you glue sticks so you would be right at home there.

DING, DING, efin DING!  We have a winner!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Jersey Pirate is very likely a UCFer, since he refuses to discuss his own team's situation and instead attacks USF.  My posts had nothing to do with USF, and he automatically took a 180 and started attacking USF instead of addressing my main point.  Still hasn't addressed it.

For the record, there are tons of posts here lamenting our fan base.  So, why can't you admit that Greenville suck balls?

they can't suck balls, o'leary's fat, whiny ass head's in the way.

  4. Dude......if ECU has more than us, that will be a real shame.  :(

Considering they had more people at THEIR home games than we had at OUR games -- I would expect them to have more people at the bowl game.

    MEMPHIS -- 37431

    WEST VIRGINIA -- 40510

    VIRGINIA -- 35541

    TULSA -- 34011

    SMU -- 34141

    MARSHALL -- 41372

Their smallest crowd was larger than our largest crowd this year.

Having visited Greenville, I can tell you that it is no surprise that they have decent attendance.  There is NOTHING there, nothing whatsoever for miles and miles.  Without ECU, that town would disappear.  There's something to be said for being the only game in town...

Based on the recent posts in this thread I'd say we have a few drunk posters tonight.  Please tell me what there is to do in Tampa on a fall Saturday that is so different from Greenville.  Just because you have more people living there doesn't mean there is more to do.  How naive.  [smiley=roflmao.gif]

And I drive 400+ miles to every home game and I know many that drive 4+ hours that live in the Richmond or DC area where there is PLENTY to do as well.  You dumbasses act like only people that live in Greenville come to the games.  Get a clue.

You crack me up!  That's like saying to a New Yorker, "what is there to do in NY that you can't do in Tampa?"  [smiley=roflmao.gif] [smiley=roflmao.gif] [smiley=roflmao.gif] [smiley=roflmao.gif] [smiley=roflmao.gif] [smiley=roflmao.gif] [smiley=roflmao.gif] [smiley=roflmao.gif]

Now granted the example I'm about to share is slightly unusual, but it isn't real far off.

One night a few years ago, I was at a Bulls football game in late August.  That same night, the Yankees were in town playing the Rays, I forget who, but the Lightning also had a home game, The Bucs had a home game the next day, there were three (3) major act concerts in town (that I knew of) and we still had close to 30k in the stands.

When has Greenville had three major concerts total?  Much less the other stuff?

  5. Great points E. T.  It's a hell of a lot more difficult to build from scratch and to sell nothing more than a vision than it is to select from among the nation's best.  Jim is recruiting with nothing more than a vision, the same way Schiano did 5 and 6 years ago.  Carrol, Weiss and Meyer can let their teams tradition and history do the recruiting for them.  ( it's not meant to take anything away from Meyer though, he has proven he could do it at Utah).

Even still, Shiano & Meyer at least had something to work with.

Leavitt was out in 1996 shining his car headlights so he could dig holes for the  fence posts around what would become our practce field.

    Now THAT'S TOUGH!!!!!!!

  6. You guys suck...

I cant find a good cuban here in Southeast Texas anywhere. I drove to a little hole in the wall place in San Antonio that was suppose to have "Cuban" food. It was latin cuisine for about $25 bucks a plate. My wife asked if I left becuase it was too expensive. Nope, I'd of paid $25 for a GOOD cuban sandwich they just didnt have any on the menu!

    How about a Mexican?  ;D

  7. i don't know about winter jackets, but i just purchased a nice sweatshirt from http://www.footballfanatics.com/?partner_id=422 and i got it in 2 days (shipped from Jax)....you can find some good stuff shopping online....check out the links above under Gear

Thanks, but I have USF sweatshits (both hoodie and crewneck types) I have a fleece pullover and other shirts (they aren't hard to find here in the Tampa area) but I see the need for a winter jacket as I described for late fall road games in places like Louisville, Morgantown, Connecticut, Syracuse, Cincinatti, Pittsburg and bowls games.  They would also be nice if we have a cold winter, for games at  the Sundome.

The vendor's here are missing the boat with items like winter jackets and  tailgate tents with Bulls logos...heck even UCF has those tents available :(

They probably realize we are in Florida.  ::)

  8.  So all I'm saying (and all I have EVER said) is that it will be better for our program when we can stop renting the stadium from the ruthless Malcolm Glazer.

To be fair, you did state at the beginning:

Some might say that those of us who think an OCS can and should be done within the next few years are the forward thinking ones.

No need to point that out, Jim ..... Most caught it.   ;)

What the heck is contradictory between those two statements?

    1) I have said we'd be better off owning our own stadium instead of being at the mercy of a crooked landlord like Malcolm Glazer.

    2) I answered another poster's challenge to be "forward-thinking" by saying that some would consider those like me who believe a plan should be put into place for a stadium within the next few years to be the forward thinkers.

Am I missing something here, or are you guys indeed reaching a little far to try and get me to sound inconsistent.  It aint there, fellas.

Everyone on this thread is trying to tell you.  The only one taking your side is a knight fan.

A knight agreeing with you should be all you need!   ;D ;)

  9. So the guy who leases his Rolls Roys doesn't  have JACK CRAP compared to the guy who owns ;D a KIA Sephia.

Not exactly.  That's not really a fair comparison, but funny.

Actually, it's a dead on fair comparison..  YOU just aren't seeing it.

ownership isn't a necessity.  Many businesses rent the stores they use.  Sometimes (as is the case with USF) it just makes fiscal sense.

Now either write a $150.000.000.00 check for an ocs, or get use to it, because we will be playing in RayJay for a while!
