  1. This is a disturbing trend I am seeing in the Louisville game. I don't ever remember this being that bad of a problem. And correct me if i'm wrong but it doesnt look like Julmiste's fault really, just catchable passes dropped for the most part. Including that INT that should have never been. I know they are a young recieving corps out there, but they look reaaaally bad tonight. One positive is that for the second game in a row we have kept the penalties to a minimum (well halfway through the 3rd quarter anyway) lets hope we finish out the game like this.
  2. Wow no sooner did I finish that last post, and Cyberbull once again reinforced my point. Now we are "yahoos" just because we have a difference of opinion.
  3. Jim, I feel very similar to the way you explained yourself on this issue you just articulated better than I did. I don't hate CJL, He has obviously done an amazing job building a program from scratch, and getting us to the Big East ect... I was just getting fed up with the fact that anyone who criticised the coaching, were called "idiots" on one thread, or called unloyal, or given one line replies like "You don't know what you are talking about" or "CJL is doing a great job" Well explain it to me, a reply like that isnt going to make me second guess myself, or show that maybe I was wrong that is all I was saying, explain it. And the whold unloyal thing really pisses me off. I am not any less of a fan because I have a difference of opinion. Sorry if I sounded like Bullony, but it was just aggravating me.
  4. Apparently you overlooked this entire paragraph because none of your points once referred to his in game decision making, and his coaching strategy (which includes game preparation which also seems to be lacking) or any of the specific points in which I listed. On the contrary they all referred to his past accomplishments, which I clearly said I was not referring to. Ohh wait, I was wrong you did say all the coaching mistakes were "in my head". Hmmmmm, Okaaay. Obviously he has built a terrific program here, but the entire point of this thread was... " Just a thought and a question? There comes a time when a coach plateaus out.............maybe he has brought the program to the furthest pt he could and its time for someone new to take us to the next level" That was the original question that was posed. My point was that I believe that maybe he has reached his potential, and your view is that he has not. But in trying to defend your view you cannot use past accomplishments to justify a coach staying if questions are being raised that he is not up for the job, you have to defend what the coach is doing NOW, because what he is doing NOW is why the questions are being raised. And there has still yet to be a good explanation against the arguement that he has reached his potetial because of the fact that everyone keeps bringing up the past, and not the present. Ohh and step down off your pedestal you put yourself on, with that sarcastic remark about me "representing" USF. Just because I have a differant view than you doesnt mean you are any more of a fan or any more loyal than I am. I am not doing that to anyone, I am just simply asking for an explanation.
  5. Still no takers? Yet members still continue to rip on anyone who posts criticism of CJL and the coaching staff in other threads. I don't get it. I am not trying to be a hard@55 here, but I think its ridiculous that I put a challenge out there for someone to try to explain this issue to me, and instead of taking me up on it, they go to other topics and get on other posters cases. C'mon! Give me an explanation or get off the backs of those who are getting tired of the mistakes made my this coaching staff.
  6. This is what I am talking about. And the reason why I issued a challenge to posters on this board, which no one has taken me up on yet. True he ripped on the coaching, deservingly so in my opinion. But instead of once again replying to criticism of CJL in this fasion, explain to me why we should look past all of the horrible coaching mistakes that have been made over the course of the past 2 years and give him a free ride. Explain how this coaching staff can continue to make the same mistakes week after week. Explain it to me. Take me up on my challenge under the topic "Calling for CJL's head..." and convince me. Because replies to coaching criticism like this are meaningless.
  7. I didnt go to USF or any college for that matter, I got into Law Enforcement right out of High School and began on a career path instead. The reason I began following USF is due to my graduating from Booker H.S. in Sarasota in 1996 and having quite a few of my H.S. friends play for the inaugeral team. I am now a season ticket holder and have been for the last 4 seasons.
  8. LOL you guys crack ME up, if you feel that way why not take me up on my challenge on the other thread and explain it to me!!! If you read this post i'm sure you must have read that one, why won't anyone respond to it? Is it because there is no valid explanation?
  9. I agree smazza, I brought the coaching problems up under the topic "Calling for CJL's head" and was called an idiot for doing so. So many people are so loyal to Leavitt they dont want to admit there may be a problem there. So when I call them out on it and ask them to try to convince me why he should stay, I dont get any takers...I guess its easier to just call someone names and leave any facts out of the argument.
  10. Cyberbull, I see your point as to why changes may not have been made up until this point. And I agree, I hope CJL gets some more resources from the university in the offseason, if he doesnt then it is kind of pointless to go to the Big East. Although I will try to remain positive, the University has been very supportive of the Football program up until this point, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt until the offseason.
  11. What do you mean "stop the bowl nonsense". Even at 2-3 isnt that ultimently the goal? If we take your line of thinking and stop worrying about the "bowl nonsense" then the season is over, and we should just pack up and call it a season now. Don't piss on my for trying to be optimistic about the team, I may have some questions about what the coaching staff is doing, but that doesnt make me any less loyal, or less of a fan than you.
  12. Cyberbull, I agree with you that it is hard to fire a Coordinator in the middle of the season, but that is what i'm talking about. Everyone knew this was a problem LAST season. So why didnt CJL get something done in the offseason. That is what I don't understand. Option 1, you get rid of him, or option 2 maybe you think to yourself, its not Hobbie's fault its the offense, we will try changing the offensive scheme to accomidate the talent we DO have, not the talent we someday HOPE to have. But CJL did neither, when it was obvious something needed to change, that is part of the reason I think its CJL not getting the job done, not Hobbie.
  13. SBien, You say that the problem is "talent related" How are the specific points I listed in my post anywere NEAR talent related? I cannot believe you go about calling posters who are questioning the coaching staff "idiots" and then don't even comment on any of the points in my post. I listed a number of specific problems that I can see, and if I am wrong (and maybe I am) try to correct me, rather than circumventing the entire post and just giving a blanket statement that we are all "idiots". I will actually issue you a challenge...I want you to explain to me how CJL is deserving of staying here as head coach, think of it as a debate, you have to convince me with actual facts. And recent history only, you cannot use the argument that he has "done so much for the program". Or "he got us to the Big East". No one is arguing the accomplishments. I am talking about his performance as a COACH, and his decision making, and coaching STRATEGY over the past 2 years. Once again, not on his past accomplishments, not on missed catches, or fumbles and such which he has no control over, on the subjects I listed in my post on page 2. This is my challenge, should you decide to accept it the tape will self-destruct in 5 seconds....tick tick tick
  14. Man, we are really in a hole, we lose this one we have to win 4 of our last 5 to go bowling, gonna be tough.
  15. I have said it in another topic, but doesnt this still come back to CJL!!!!!!!!!!! I mean it is painfully obvious (not just in this game) that Hobbie is not getting the job done, but neither is COACH LEAVITT. If the Offensive Cooridnator is making these kinds of mistakes over and over again and again, then why isnt CJL replacing him, or taking over on playcalling? Stop putting the blame on Hobbie, or explain to me why it ISNT CJL's fault. FSU has this problem too, but at least Bowden has an excuse why he isnt firing his OC, because its his son. What is our excuse???? Hmmmmmm????
  16. Basketbull we get it... That was an exciting time, and Coach Leavitt has done a great job getting us to where we are, but that doesnt give him a free pass to make stupid mistakes which costs us games 8 years later. I wont go into it here, but you can see my post under the topic "Calling for coach Leavitts head"
  17. One game isnt enough for me to consider the problem "corrected" although that was one encouraging thing I was able to take out of the game. If they keep the penalties down like they did for the rest of the season I will say this is no longer a problem.
  18. The problem I and I believe some of the other posters have with CJL is he has been making THE SAME mistakes over and over again. Go back and run a search on some of the losses from last year and you will see the same complaints as you see this season. 1. Spread Offense doesnt work (this was obvious last season but no change, does anyone think this scheme will work in the Big East???) 2. Very questionable playcalling at times which makes no sense. (Too many examples to list) 3. Horrible clock management. (Again, going back 2 years, too many examples to list) 4. Poor conservation of timeouts (which potentially lost several games for us over the past 2 years.) 5. Penalties (This was better this week, but has been a real problem over the past several years) 6. Dicipline (players getting in trouble off the field, and losing thier cool often times on the field. Taking bad penalties at cruicial points in the game, see #5. Running around with thier shirts untucked looking like slobs, and an undiciplined team, I could go on...) These are all things that I can remember that were serious problems last year, and the fact that none of these things seemed to have been addressed in the offseason, or in the first few weeks of the season really has me questioning what the hell CJL is doing.. It is obvious he has been an amazing coach to accomplish what he has, but this just baffles me. Week after week it is the same story over and over again. So it is not that people on this board don't like CJL (with the exception of Bullony) it is just that we have been seeing the same mistakes play out week after week, and they arent mistakes like Peyton dropping a TD pass or Julmiste throwing a pick, these things are going to happen you can only practice train your guys and hope for the best come gametime. On the other hand things like clock management, conserving timeouts and several other things I mentioned above all CAN be controlled, but arent. And it really leaves me scratching my head wondering why CJL does not address these issues. Its the same thing over and over again. I swear sometimes I feel like Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day". And once again, every seems to agree that the OC needs to go, that again comes down to CJL, he is responsible. If his Coordinators arent getting the job done then he needs to replace them, or step in and do the job himself.
  19. STK, not that I want Spurrier here anyways, but you keep saying his loyalty is with Florida. If that is true then why did he leave for the NFL? His loyalty to the gators doesnt run as deep as his love for himself. If he thinks taking another college football gig will get him national attention, and a shot at another national title he will certainly go for it. He has a Huuuuuuge ego.
  20. If PJ is the ONLY problem you see, then you need to open your eyes there buckaroo.
  21. My only problem with Leavitt is he doesnt seem to learn from his own mistakes. Throwing away potentially crucial timeouts. Having Julmiste run the ball so much on a bum knee, sure he put up some good yards, but a very dangerous gamble. The whole offensive scheme hasnt worked for some time now, and it has been obvious, and with our best recruiting class coming in this year, and a lot of them starting, what better a time in this past off season to start working on a new offense, but no, he is too stubborn and wants to stick with what worked for Blackwell. Blackwell is gone CJL, and he is not coming back, move on. And everyone seems to agree the Coordinators have to go and its all thier fault. Well if that is true, then it is CJL's fault for NOT getting rid of them, it still comes back to him. Alot of the playcalling is very questionable. Does CJL allow O Coordinator to call plays or does he? Either way, they consistantly make stupid moves. I am by no means a football expert or as knowledgeable as these guys are supposed to be, but if something is obvious to me why isnt it obvious to the coaching staff? For example, first and goal on the 2, and you give the ball to Julmiste to run the option? Stupid playcall.
  22. I was pissed at the radio commentary, I listen to the radio while at the games and they never once mentioned that he could have been injured. They just said "Crossley in, Hall sitting this series out". Which didnt seem unusual, until it was like 4 series in a row. You would think they would get on the ball and send Barry Pepper (i think thats his name) to find out whats going on, but nothing!! What the hell is this guy there for if he isnt trying to get an injury report. And it wasnt like he would come on the air and say, "No confirmation on any injury to Hall, but he has yet to enter the game, blah blah blah..." Just absolutely nothing. Stellar work guys.
  23. I dont think Leavitt is a bad coach, I just think he is a stubborn SOB. It has been apparent for the past couple of seasons that this offensive scheme hasnt been working, but he is insistent on staying with it. And I have said this in the past, my biggest pet peeve is the #$%&*@!*%$'ing TIMEOUTS!!!!!!!!!! This coaching staffs throws away timeouts like yesterdays garbage. Two games in a row, if we had reserved our timeouts against Army and S Miss, we could have had a chance to get the ball back and tie the game, and we would not have had to try onside kicks. I just dont understand how CJL doesnt learn from his mistakes, I mean IT WAS THE LAST FREAKING GAME WE PLAYED WE HAD THIS PROBLEM!!! You would think he would try to conserve them. The same thing happened in the UAB game last year, and it has happened several other times, my memory is just failing me now. And it is not like they were useful timeouts. First blown timeout was when Army scored to make it 26-28, I dont think there was a person in the stands who thought they were going to kick the extra point, why would Leavitt? And if he knew they were going to go for two, then he would have sent the right unit out on the field, so what was the reason for the T/O? Was he trying to Ice the Running Back? Then the 2nd blown T/O was on the punt, which was another unnecessary timeout. Can someone explain this to me?
  24. Yeah that option call was HORRIBLE. We run the option almost never, and to run it at such a cruicial point of the game was a little strange. Can't blame PJ for that one.
