  1. The last loss to a non-BCS team was Memphis in 2004. (ended at 16 wins in a row)

The last loss to a MAC team was at N. Illinois in 2001 the week before the Pitt win. (ended at 4 wins in a row, out of 6 total MAC games)

Skip's teams have been trending down since he arrived.

    2010 USF 8-5 and 3-4 Big East

    2011 USF 5-7 and 1-6 Big East

    so far

    2012 USF 2-2 and 0-1 Big East

total USF 15-14 and 4-11 Big East

Things aren't looking good for the FSU game. At Louisville, Syracuse, UCONN, @Miami, @Cinci and Pitt could be problematic as well. Who knows what @Temple will be like as we have never played them before. Based on what I have seen so far, if USF goes 4-4 the rest of the way, it would be a great achievement.

  2. Here are the three all-time losing streaks for USF that are on the line Thursday.

4 I-A home losses in a row. The last win was vs UTEP (52-24) on Sat, Sep 24, 2011

5 Big East home losses in a row. The last win was vs Rutgers (28-27) on Wed, Nov 3rd, 2010

6 BCS home losses in a row. The last win was vs Rutgers (28-27) on Wed, Nov 3rd, 2010

We are 2-5 vs Rutgers (1-2 at home and 1-3 on the road) with the last win vs Rutgers being the one above in 2010. We are 21-27 vs the Big East and it is time to start turning that around.

  3. Where's the NY Times article? All I get when I Google "UCF NY Times" is articles about violations ...

Look under Bianchi's article in the sentinel from earlier this week or last...he links everything there.  Look I don't want into the Big East, now.  It's not going to exist, anymore.  It's the principle of everything.  My question is...why does any of this surprise you?  You knew Genshaft's agenda vs. UCF since USF began football.  Other school presidents are aware and her tactics may cause USF a conference.  Why did Pitt and Cuse want out so bad?  The went to the ACC, not the other way around.  The ACC just figured, we better be sure.  The Big 12 presidents are football minded and are fighting to stick together for the benefit of all of the schools.  Do you think they want to deal with Genshaft??  They know how she works and how selfish she is.  At least they're going to now....thanks to UCF!!!  hahahaha!!!

I'm not going to Bianchi's site, Goldie ... Please supply the link.

    Good luck on that part.

  4. And how could anyone forget the streak that now continues from last week

UCF now has 4 consecutive games without a TD pass..

    Games:           4

    Passing TD:     0

I think its 5 or 6 games if you look at least season.

It is 5 games. UCiF's last TD pass was Jeff Godfrey to Latavius Murray for a 5 yd TD pass in the final SMU game last season (Dec 4th, UCiF 17, SMU 7).

  5. USF started FB in 1996 as a I-AA independent. (I don't do FBS and FCS, they are I-A and I-AA as God intended ;).) USF became a I-A independent in 2001. USF moved to C-USA in 2003 and the BE in 2005. So that is four years as a I-A team, before moving to a BCS conference.

UCF started FB in 1979 as a D-III team. In 1982 they went to D-II. In 1990, UCF went to I-AA. In 1996, UCF became a I-A independent. In 2005, UCF joined C-USA.

So, if you want to compare USF's first four years, with UCF's first four years, then you are comparing USF 2001-2004 vs UCF 1996-1999.

This info on USF and UCF is not hard to find.

If you want to extend this out to games over I-A opponents with a winning record, it gets worse for UCF.

From 1996-1999 UCF beat Toledo twice when Toledo had a winning record.

From 2001-2004 USF beat 8 teams with winning records, which includes the above Pitt win and a win vs #25 (ESPN) Bowling Green.

Currently, UCF is 3-45 all time vs BCS teams with none of them being against a BCS team with a winning record. USF is 29-36 vs BCS teams all time and includes wins against ranked BCS teams with winning records.

Since both teams went to I-A, USF has 22 wins over I-A teams with a winning record (at least one every year for 10 years) and UCF has 11 wins over I-A teams with a winning record (spread across 7 seasons in the 15 years UCF has been I-A).

BTW, the BCS stats do not include the 2 games each vs Louisville, Cincy and UConn before they also became BCS teams.

  6. a wins over Alabama in 2000 I would put on the list....but I know UCF administration has made mistakes in the past pre-oleary that really slowed the growth of the program....there's a lot of history to that you can look up but UCF could have been in a much better position a long time ago. But they aren't, the only thing that can be done is for the current administration to try to get it right which in part they have by building up the athletic facilities/athletic village and having Keith Tribble as the successor to AD Orsini. The coaching situation is questionable, we all know that but we'll see how UCF leadership decides to act for the future of our program. USF has made some quick leaps w/ some good leadership at the top starting w/ lee roy selmon and had some fortune roll you way also w/ the last Big East shakeup where you had the larger basketball arena at the time which was a big factor in their decision. USF has done more starting w/ less and I give you're administration credit, now we'll see what UCF will do in the future w/ the investment that has been put into the football program.

If you'll notice, 'significant wins' were wins over I-A programs with a winning record. Alabama was 3-8 in 2000. They are included in the wins over BCS record that UCiF compiled.

  7. Having said that, any team could fashion a winner if lucked into a BCS conference.

You so don't want to go there.

Here are the comparisons of USF and UCiF from the start of I-A play to the end of 2004. In 2004, USF was in the 2nd season of C-USA play and UCiF was in the 3rd season of MAC play.

UCiF compiled a 46-55 (45.54%) overall record from 1996 to 2004. Their record vs I-A teams was 32-55 (36.78%) and were 4 of 37 (9.76%) vs I-A teams with a winning record. UCiF was 1 and 29 vs the BCS (3.33%).

UCiF's significant wins were the following:

1997 -  9-3 Toledo (not ranked when they played UCiF and they lost the MAC Champ game)

    1998 -  7-5 @Toledo  (lost MAC Champ game)

    2001 -  6-5 UAB

    2002 -  7-5 Miami (OH)

USF compiled a 28-16 (63.64%) overall record from 2001 to 2004. Their record vs I-A teams was 20-16 (55.56%) and were 8 of 13 (38.10%) vs I-A teams with a winning record. USF was 1 and 5 vs the BCS (16.67%).

USF's significant wins were the following:

    2001 -  7-5 @Pitt (Won the Tangerine Bowl)

    2002 -  8-4 N. Illinois

2002 -  7-5 @N. Texas (SBC Champ and won the NO Bowl)

2002 -  7-5 So Miss (Lost the Houston Bowl)

    2002 -  9-3 #26/25 Bowling Green (AP/Coaches Polls)

2003 -  9-3 Louisville (Lost the GMAC Bowl)

    2003 -  8-4 @Memphis (Won the NO Bowl)

    2004 -  7-4 UAB (Lost the Hawai'i Bowl)

So, better winning percentages in all facets of the game. In 2002 USF won the same number of games vs I-A opponents with a winning record as UCiF did in 9 years of trying! USF even beat a I-A opponent with a winning record in their worst season, 2004! Not to mention that USF's BCS win was over a bowl winner.

  8. Cinnci for homecoming again!  Last time we played them during homecoming didn't it go into 2OT?

Cincy homecoming last time was moved to Friday night 10/31 Halloween for tv.  It kind of put a damper on the festivities and attendance.  Hopefully, tv will not care about this game and it can be held on Saturday night at 7pm - that will draw a huge crowd if we are playing well.

Yes, the game was moved and it did go to two OT's. It was a USF win, 24-17, and the first homecoming game to go into OT. This year's game will be the first time that USF will have a repeat opponent for Homecoming.

  11. NO, not in football, but in WBB!

USF knocked off #15 Louisville 74-58 for the second highest ranked win.

USF is #33 in the AP with 12 points and #30 in the USA Today with 17 votes. The next poll is week 12 (22nd-28th). There are 5 four loss teams in the Top 25 with Georgia at #16. So BB Gurus, can the Lady Bulls make the Top 25?

  12. He has done the things necessary to create championship teams.  He has brought in great coaches, set a plan to improve our facilities, and our budget is at an all time high.  These are the steps that we need to have a championship team.  Now it is up to the players and the coaches to make it happen

    when is first one coming??

Dang you are impatient. Give the man some time to build something. Even more so in the fact that we need to build a lot of athletic facilities.
