No more coordinators, but you want to hire DePrato who......is a special teams coordinator? Who's never been an OC or DC.

My point is why spend millions of dollars for unproven guys when Deprato has 3 games experience and was an improvement over CJS.

  2. This has turned into a complete disaster! I think the BOT and President made a huge mistake allowing the search firm of MK to do this after the fiasco of CJS. I am not confident this will end well. Losing players to the portal, maybe we realize who we are right now and either hire DePrato or take a risk on CJL. No more f@#$%!% coordinators. Like all of you, I am really sick of this failure that we have become.

If we were a better coached program I think 3-3 is very realistic.  You are right, we need near perfect play from GB and a few others to win these games, but that's not on them

I really think that if we could stay healthy, since our depth just isn't there, we could have started to turn the corner. At this point the best we can hope for is to get 2 or 3 more wins this season and if the coaches can build upon the talent and depth, next year we can win more and maybe get back to a bowl game. I think CJS will get another year unless we lose out this year.

Are you implying that good QBs don't miss throws?

And so I am clear, the defense blows in your opinion but it's GB's fault we lose because he isn't perfect?

I never said he wasn't good, I was just clearly stating for us to win games against better competition on the road, we may actually need to play perfect. GB did play a great game except for a few plays that could have made the difference between winning and losing. The effort is there, which is important, but I really want us to win some games!

He is the best we have had in a while.

That is all fine and good but if we want to win those games, he can't throw terrible pick 6s, see UF game and miss Weaver when he is wide open and could change the whole game. I am not saying he isn't a good QB, but the missed throws are why teams lose instead of win. Too many schools, that are smaller than ours have very good QB1, GB is a solid power runner but we will not win unless he makes little or no mistakes since our D doesn't rank very well.

Couldn't say it any better. This is just sad. Accepting the at least we had fun approach is a cop out for poor coaching.

Fans and especially players deserve so much more.

The 2nd and 26 defense call was horrible, got burnt by the screen. The 3rd down screen play to Weaver in the early part of the 4th was a good call but Bohannon missed him. The pass interference flag on the last drive isn't picked up if GB keeps the throw on the field. The 4th down play call may have been an rpo and did GB make the wrong read? I think GB has his moments of good but also some real questionable stuff. We still don't have a real QB1 that is solid in all areas. If we did, the UF and this game would have been W's. I think Trickett is fine, I am not happy with Shoop or CJS game management. Never should have called a timeout with 5 mins in the 3rd qtr on our half yard line, take a delay but don't waste a timeout. Also, used a questionable challenge in the 2nd half. 2 wastes 2nd half timeouts, that is why coaches lose games and get fired.

Houston takes the lead with 18 seconds left

The ending of that game was like watching us...they give up a 4th and long where 4 guys miss Tune, who is not fast, and drive for a TD. Then, they recover an onside without much of an effort by Memphis. Then they drive down and take the lead. Then after completing a pass for a 1st down with 11 sec left, the clock is stopped to move the chains, they take their last timeout instead of spiking the ball. This is so what we do, makes me sick! Do whatever you can to screw you team over because you don't have a clue. Ugh...

And that is what Scott was saying.

    My point made clearer.

I fully agree they are not quitting. As many have said on here is you are down 20, you finally get a turnover and you take 7 minutes off the clock, waste a timeout and don't score. Let me tell you, the players do realize how bad that is, as they have all played football and watched football their entire lives. They aren't going to run through a wall for that, but most of them will run through the wall for their teammates and fans and assistant coaches, but I am sure they know CJS is in over his head.

Too bad you can’t see this but welcome to team reality, VPMK has created his vision and that’s a vision at odds with success

I am not willing to jump on the 'fire VPMK' bandwagon. It seems that CJS is out in the community selling the team and IPF and OCS to the community. The problem is he is not translating what is needed to win football games. The team can obviously compete, in spite of some poor coaching and bad refs we had UF beat. So what is the real world solution? Maybe since we are already on the hook for his contract and he can 'sell' the program in the community, they turn over the 'coaching' to Morris or one of the assistants. At this point, I doubt he is ever replaced until after UCF or possibly still given another year. The only way he goes is via the BOT or President.

We all need to turn the pressure on AD MK to do something. The players deserve better .

The biggest issue that I have, is that it is clear that we are doing less with more. There is no one who can say that with our location, our conference, our enrollment and our brief history, including being ranked #2 in the country, that small conference schools in small areas with less than 5k students are leaps and bounds ahead of us. Very few football programs have EVER been ranked #2 in the country. Jeff Scott is proving to be the ultimate underachiever. We do have several TALENTED players, Horn, Battie, Weaver, Mangum, Grier, most of the offensive line DJ Gordon and many others.

I have finally given up on him as being a successful head coach here. Maybe he will do well elsewhere, but it isn't going to happen right here right now.

  11. This topic title can take you in many directions, but the fact that the only time Scott has some positives to speak about is in garbage time. We can all see there is talent on the field, but until the other teams are up 35+, which seems to be in the 1st half most games, they let off the gas. Of course you might look better when the other team becomes more vanilla or puts in 2nd string players. So what is the answer? Either the talent becomes so much better than the opponent that any playcall will work, or it is time to fill up the garbage and find coaches that can out work the other teams and make the talent we have look that much better.

His grit score was so good! Timmy's dad looks right about this competition and coaching staff. Again more turnovers and zero TDS.

Scott's biggest weakness seems to be that his judgement of talent and work ethic is ZERO. He clearly was desperate to start winning and hoped that a QB who lost his job at Baylor would somehow be better than McClain. Also, the 1st 2 coordinators he originally hired were also unqualified and that lead to the 1st 2 years of failure.

  13. Ok, I am going to say that what I am seeing on the recruiting and transfer portal action is that CJS and his coaching staff are making really big moves to get the program back to something we might all enjoy. I think that 2022 will be a good year and 2023 could be the year we finally get a conference championship. I have been critical when needed but I really think we are finally all committed to winning. Starting with the BOT, to the AD to the coaching staff and also the players. Now, once we get some wins, the fans will start coming back. Fixing what CCS did is not an overnight job, just look at the dumpster fire he left in Texas. They still haven't recovered!

Make him the d-coordinator and move on to next year...

And fire Weiss and have BJ Daniels as the up and coming replacement for OC with Jeff Scott calling most of the plays next year. He was an OC on Nat'l Champ teams at Clemson, he could be a mentor for BJ. Stop wasting money on the retread coordinators.

    What the ****??????????

The full culmination of bad coaching throughout the game, the season, the 2 years....Scott must clean house or maybe the fact that he let the incompetence continue for 2 years is a reflection on him. He has to get his staffing fixed and correct for next year or I will be ready for bigger changes. High school coaches can manage the game better than this staff has shown. Call a f****** play and give the players a chance to get set and snap the ball before there are 5 secs left on the play clock. It has been a recurring theme.
