What I don't understand is this "concern" that UCF fans have for our program. UCF pushes the rivalry thing, "hates" our program, celebrates that they are far ahead, but then expresses fraternal concern that we may be damaging our program with our scheduling, lack of OCS, facilities (I'm starting to depress myself...), etc. and if we would just follow their blueprint we could enjoy the success that they have. Seems disingenuous, but I may be off base. There are decent fans in every program.
What I think you're picking up on is that the advice isn't disingenuous, but the motivation is. We all struggle with whether to root for conference mates, so our wins are more meaningful, or against them, as they are rivals for limited resources.
If you could give a conference-mate good advice, knowing that they will ignore or probably go against that advice because you're the one sharing it, wouldn't you? You've done your duty as a conference-mate and it makes it WAY more fun when they experience consequences as a result of ignoring good advice.
I think that's what you're sensing, UCF fans are happy to give advice and are even happier to watch y'all ignore it.

Would I talk to another fan that I happen by in every day life? Sure, but that’s not quite the same as going out of my way to go to a place to talk to them specifically because they are a fan of another team.
That's a fair point. I guess it's worth it to me because I'm always looking for interesting conversations. I'm guessing you're similar, since I see you bring up provocative points of view with other USF fans.
But talking with other UCF fans can get boring when you all see things the same way. It just becomes an echo chamber. For me, it's worth it to make the effort to go to other boards because it's a much more interesting conversation. If CFB is all tribalism, I'm always interested in what the other tribes are thinking/saying.

I would be bitter too but I don’t think I would then feel like going to another teams board it just seems like an odd thing to do to me. Maybe if someone was traveling to an away game and wanted advice but even then I think you should just google it.
It's just another way to interact with other fans. Have you never invited an opposing fan to your tailgate? You talk about their team, where they're from, talk some trash. It's fun as long as it's respectful.
But most UCF fans don't come here to get perspective. They come here to gloat because we think it's karma that USF tried to keep us down and bragged about it and now your program is in the ******.
It's not exactly brotherly love, but the UCF fans I've seen around here haven't been too bad, but the bad ones might be taken care of by mods.

I remember having so many that came here than we had to make a section of the board dedicated to it called the dumbgren, if USF fans went to your board I will have to take your word for it but I have my doubts too many from our side went slumming to your side.
They weren't your average fan, more like the dumb twitter trolls we all have. But there were a ton of them, there was no twitterverse for them to live in, and Brandon let them run the free board.
I think that's part of the reason internet UCF fans are so defensive, because every time we were down, there were more threads from trolls than fans at any given time.

No, he's right. When USF was in the Big East, there was a constant influx of USF fans.

Link to the NCAA record book recognizing them as Co-National Champions?
You kind of walked into that one.

So the NCAA has recognized their national championship, as a single computer poll has them as #1. This is what i was told.
Don't ruin the narrative.
It's fake. Everything is photoshopped. UCF fans made it up.

And not to engage in a debate on if UCF has actually passed USF by or if they are just riding the tail end of a wave of success that has little to no bearing on conference realignment.
I tried to engage in a debate about whether UCF or USF fans were more insecure and it was embarrassing. And not fun embarrassing, like I'm embarrassed to also have graduated from a school from the same state.
Let's stick with topics where y'all don't end up in the fetal position. I'm not yet convinced this is a safe topic.

Thanks man. I will be waiting for your intelligent reply to less bowl wins, lower academics, a lower win percentage, but UCF has been playing football 18 years longer than us. How exactly are you in a better position for an Power5 invite?
I'm pretty embarrassed that I didn't do a better job figuring out where things were at here, I just assumed it would be in the normal state school fan level as far as intelligence and fragility go.
Now I feel like the guy that picked on the slow kid in class. I'm happy to weigh in as a UCF fan, but let's save debate for a time when your buddies demonstrate they can be around one without deteriorating into a humiliating mess.

WE started in 1997 and had you have a 18 year heard start.
Let me say first that this is the best post I've seen so far on this site. It's logical, coherent, and makes some valid points. It's very possible that you're the intelligent fan I've been waiting for.
But right now, I'm not sure I can engage with it. I came here with the intention of provoking some interesting conversation, but honestly, I feel like **** because I ****** up some of the people on the board a little bit. So you might be the poster that has no problem intelligently debating things, but I'm afraid that you might not and I'll make the situation worse.
I don't think I need to leave the board, but allow me to rain check on the conversation and maybe we can try again later.
And if some of y'all are just pretending that you're too stupid to understand or pretending that you're having a stroke to guilt me into leaving the board, bra-freakin-vo. I tip my hat to you, because all I feel is bad for y'all.

Y'all, I figured I would push some buttons, but I think I broke Triple B. Which, I promise, was not my intention.
I just wanted to see how people here would react if I pushed a little further on some concepts, but it seems like I pulled on one too many threads.
Oof. Good luck, USF alumni. This world has a lot scarier stuff in it than me.

Would you say it's his hypothesis?
Which he refuses to test?
Honestly, this is getting a lot less fun and making me sad. Usually, the fun at this stage of a program is the unmerited arrogance. And I've seen a little bit of that. But I challenged Bulls fans to brag about their program and the best I got was 'good media market' and 'relationships with BCS programs' like your buddy, Louisville.
And typically when I visit boards, there's at least one person who can understand why I'm saying that I can banter with.
But it seems like I visited too late. On some level, y'all seem to already realize that your program sucks and you're in bad shape. And I don't have anyone to banter with, because y'all don't have people that can engage at that level.
The academic smack and realignment smack don't go very deep here, and where I was having fun seeing the arrogance, now I'm just kind of feeling sorry for you.
Which is never a place I thought I could get to with Bulls fans.

Even UCF fan because he apparently believes that keeping some of us engaged is some sort of worthy accomplishment ....... a, dare I say, moral victory?
As I said in the other thread, I commend you for trying to understand about hypotheses and what is admittedly a higher concept conversation than is typical on a message board. I'm ok moving on from here with you if you are.

I could not have more simply laid out my hypothesis, which stemmed from my original conversation with JTrue. I can't tell whether you're unwilling or unable to understand the conversation.
If unable, I commend you for trying.

So my theory is that USF fans are so insecure that even if all I do is respond to UCF threads and replies to posts, USF fans won't be able to help themselves from responding. Your theory is that I'm trolling and trying to win by getting people to respond.
Let's test the theories: you and your buddies ignore me. If you ignore me, then I'll act like any other troll, I'll fight for more attention and then give up. If you can't ignore me, well, that's pretty telling no matter what I'm trying to accomplish.

I am pretty sure the only thing you and I were discussing on this subject was in regards to expansion and your wrong belief that UCF somehow finds itself in a preferable position because you saw it on barstool sports Orlando or the guy from be sentinel guaranteed it this time; if anyone should be disappointed in the other person’s argument it should be me but alas it’s what I’ve come to expect.
Haha! Link or quote of the Barstool Sports argument about expansion?

I’ve already explained it to you. You had some short term success, I would have rather had your on field performance over the last two years than ours, you wrongly conflate that with program growth and expansion possibilities. Never one time has what you think matters factored into expansion and your run at being Boise should show you that they still ended up in the exact same place they started.
I just figured that if UCF had no hope of passing USF and I asked you to tell me about how great a state the USF program is to shut out all hope, you would have more for me than 'we have a slightly bigger media market' and 'we're almost a top 100 school'.
Nothing about your coach or OC or AD or QB? Y'all hosted a HUGE game with WVU, right? You're going to have one of the best IPFs in the country soon!
I was hoping a bunch of USF fans would love the chance to brag on the program and talk about how USF has everything and UCF has nothing. The bragging was pretty disappointing, frankly. And your buddies all went silent.

I know, I just really enjoy hearing y'all talk about how great your program is.
So how about it? How great is USF right now? UCF has no hope to pass you by, so it must be pretty great, right?
Again, I would love to hear from other USF fans as well.

What do you think has been the biggest determining factors of Conference realignment? From my view it has been media markets(Usf wins), University prestige (Usf wins by a lot), being a bcs school with relationships with the other conference schools (Usf wins), large university and alumni base (push), stadium to accommodate large games (Usf wins). Never once has having two years of success in 40 ever played a part in determining who was selected even if they were the most recent and unfortunately for you are more than likely over. You are returning back to the depths of college football you are accustomed to, and no one will remember it any more than our spot at number 2 and while some will find your quaint little bounce house adorable while you flew too close to the sun they will go back to recognizing it as the empty sad less than a Texas HS stadium as you crash back into the ocean.
That's great. But you haven't really explained why there is NO hope for UCF. And I'd love it if you talked more about how great the USF program is right now.
For example, our coach is ____ and our OC is going to ____. We have the ____ AD in CFB. Our QB is _____. Stuff like that.

And I hope that I didn't communicate that I only want to hear from puc on this. I would love to hear from as many people as possible.
Seriously, jump in. I want to hear all about the strength of the USF program and the weakness of UCF from anyone that agrees with puc.

For you there is none. Everything that has ever actually mattered in expansion we have you beat in or at worst it’s a push. Everything that has never mattered and you wrongly guess does you wrongly think you are winning at. You have always at best been able to follow behind us and there is no reason to believe that would ever change.
Seriously, keep going. I would honestly love to hear more about how USF is on top and UCF has no hope.
Not joking at all.

UCF isn't claiming to be co-CFP champions.
The fact that ESPN and every other school that claims a share of a national championship defines it the same way as us should have given you pause in your confidence.
