The NCAA has never called them a co-national champion as far as I can find and that erroneous assertion is what UCF and ESPN are basing their stance on ....

Yeah, I definitely believe that you've got it all figured out and ESPN has it wrong. Why don't you write to them and have them retract it?

Until then, I'll assume you're pretty biased on the subject.

    Maybe you've seen something I couldn't find?

Ute coach Kyle Whittingham welcomed the NCAA's endorsement, saying his '08 team “did everything we were supposed to do.” He's not expecting the school to hang a commemorative banner, though.

Sorry, I don't know how to embed a tweet here

  3. Let me be clear: I'm not planning to visit this site forever. I will stay as long as I can engage in interesting conversations. It's not interesting to debate with people that have no reading comprehension or ability to follow logical progressions.

If you want me to leave the board (and I'm sure many of you do), just keep sending your 'best and brightest' this way and I'm sure I'll leave once you've thoroughly embarrassed your school.

    Nice pivot.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

It would be a lot more fun to tear stupid arguments apart if y'all understood what was happening.

    Simple or complex?

If you're taking a nuanced view then we can discuss what those nuances are and which ones are appropriate. If you're taking a simple view, then you can't just add the nuances you like and I thank you for supporting our national championship.

When they run the story with the poll, doesn’t  it explain it at the bottom of the poll?

Your stance is that MOST people, follow CFB, read the newspaper, check the polls, and read the fine print under the poll.

Agree to disagree. And, again, I love that you represent the academic juggernaut USF on this board. Feel free to take that as a compliment.

I’m catering to my audience .

Are we doing simple or complex? If complex, then this is a silly exercise. If simple, then I agree with you that Auburn was better than Alabama and Georgia in that year we won the National Championship.

I look forward to agreeing with you.

Not since the playoff era...it was designed to eliminate this nonsense... UCF isn't a co-champion...I think Ok State finished 1st in this Matrix as well...no I'm not catholic...but I have this thing called reason and accountability as well...

So far UCF, the NCAA, and ESPN (who has an interest in the CFP being the only show in town) all agree that UCF was the co-national champion, but you agree with the schools that have an interest in maintaining the status quo over them because of your reasoning skills?

    Sometimes I love this board.

Most people don’t what the AP poll is? The one that comes out weeks before the season and spurs all of the preseason debate and discussion? The one people literally cyberstalk and troll voting journalists over? The same AP poll that’s been around since the 1930’s? Is that the poll you are referring to?

I didn't say most CFB message board fans don't know what the AP poll is.

    Reading comprehension! USF! Hurray!

If only they played each other head to head over that stretch. Then we could say for sure who has been the better team. Oh well.

Maybe you're right, it is pretty simple. Like if Team A beat Team B, then Team C beat Team A, Team C is the best, right?

So glad we're all on the same page, finally.

I just want to know why I have yet to see a tshirt, banner, car decal,  etc. that says 2017 Colley Matrix National Champions

Interesting how the most important 2 words are always left out...

No one who has a share of a championship puts the major selector, they just say national champs. Even if you put "AP National Champions", most people don't know what the AP is. So no one is going to put CFP or Colley Matrix National Champions.

It's because they have two key things that UCF doesn't:  reason and accountability

Each school can make their own choice of what to do with the information. Alabama has long celebrated national championships where they lost at the end of the season.

I saw that Utah is now celebrating having a share of the 2008 National Championship. Like us, they were picked by a major selector and, like us, they believe they could have become the only National Champs if given the chance.

Notre Dame did not have that same confidence, I think for good reason.

So you’re going to avoid my question and not engage in discussion with fan base?

    Way to pay attention.

Here's the thing: there's a lot more to the question than you seem to be aware of. Better how? UCF and USF seem to measure success differently. USF fans seem to value mid-season rankings and BCS relationships in a way that UCF fans don't. Then you have the question of how do you "demonstrably" measure the difference in criteria like that? There's also the impending question of why does it matter? Are you trying to score the programs like rounds of a boxing match? Are there other, better ways to measure program strength?

Normally, I would discuss this kind of stuff with the poster who initiated the question, but I'm reasonably confident that you're not capable of that kind of nuanced discussion.

In fact, JTrue, in my short time on this board, I've seen you continually hijack threads, make inane points, and show almost a complete disregard for reading comprehension. I can't think of a post you've made that I found interesting or thought-provoking in any way.

So I think I'm going to put you on ignore. You can feel free to interpret that as fear, but I'm on this board for interesting conversation and I've found you unhelpful in that regard. Let's just agree to disagree and hopefully you find some other fans that really enjoy engaging with you. Good luck and God bless.

    I'd call you a *****, but that's too easy.

I already gave you a year I disagreed with. I thought that was magnanimous, considering how childish your demand.

Have I demonstrated that I dislike talking football? No? Then just ask questions.

I know it's asking a lot of this fanbase, but here are some helpful tips:

-read the threads. If someone can immediately find a quote that disproves you, you look dumb

-don't accuse everyone all the time of trolling, especially when you're intitiating more conversations. This is just common sense.

-don't try to box people in. "I absolutely guarantee that JTrue won't say USF sucks. He's too chicken. I can't wait to see him dodge this. On the off chance he does, it's only because he's a troll." People see through that stuff and no one wants to discuss anything with you.

I'm partially suprised I have to explain stuff like this to y'all, but my expectations are getting lower by the day.

Maybe he can use the Colley Matrix if he gets stuck on any.

I'll take that to mean you agree with his take, puc, that USF was better than UCF in 2013?

    6 minutes ago, JTrue said:

There is no way on Earth he's going to do it. On the absolutely slightest chance he does, it will open all the discourse he wants. If he dodges this question, he outs himself as complete ********. Now, we all know he is, but here is his chance to get knee-deep in exactly what he claims he came here for.

I guess I have to do what you tell me to, now that you double-dog dared me.

Is there no chance or the slightest chance? You seem confused.

  15. 38 minutes ago, Triple B said:

Colley doesn't name anyone national champs but they did have the Irish top ranked that year.

They actually do. They are what's called a "national champion selector. The CFP was added as a selector in 2014. Learning is fun!

38 minutes ago, Triple B said:

The Kanigits here know it's a ******** claim but right now it's a game they're playing by trying to keep us engaged with them. I'm just gratified that we, as good hosts, can accommodate their obsession.

It might be good to pick a lane, Triple B. Am I being rude when I leave the discussion or is everyone but you a troll despite you consistently playing the instigator?

I don't recall UCF fans starting the National Championship discussion, though. You can check back through the thread if you don't believe me.

I would describe your reading comprehension as "What I would expect from a USF fan." You can feel free to take that as a compliment if you would like.

    Yes, UCF got an asterisk.

I would be all for ucf wearing shirts that said "2017 Colley Matrix National Champions".

You guys are too kind. I'm so glad that the three of us, and UCF and ESPN, all agree: the asterisk denotes that UCF are the 2017 Colley Matrix National Champions.

Can y'all believe that there are people on this very site that think that's all fake? I would love it if y'all could share with those people what you just admitted to me, about the asterisk, Colley Matrix, and having one of the National Championship selectors all being real. Thanks a bunch.

  17. 24 minutes ago, Grateful Dad said:

Actually, yes.  I visited the UCF board back when your AD expressed discontentment with our two for ones.  I posted with respect about the difference in strategies and how I believed your AD shot himself in the foot announcing no more two for ones after ticking off Saban and the rest of the world with the Natty talk.  It was out of concern for a conference mate.  Got pretty much the same reception as you got here 😁

Time will tell which side has the better strategy.

I do see a difference, though, in that we're quite satisfied with the results of our strategy so far. USF fans seem content with the potential results of theirs.

Yeah, we're the ones in denial. If only we had the objectivity and psychic powers Bulls fans have to see that everything is the opposite of how it seems.
