Maybe it's because we're not talking about apples to apples in comparison with the Pac12 situation, plus a bit of semantics, but the author's point is dead on. At the end of the Big East, there were 7 hoops only schools and 4 football programs. The 7 split, 2/3 of the conference, taking the Big East name with them. For all practical purposes and common logic, that's splintering and collapsing ....

I would agree with that if CUSA annexed the remaining four football schools, but I’m ok agreeing to disagree. I usually just lurk on this board, but the logic in that article was bad enough that it deserved a comment.

Not sure exactly your question here but the BE did split apart, after being raided, into basketball and football schools. The football schools then raided CUSA forming the AAC ...

From the article: “Also, we have history to look at. The Big East used to exist as a football conference. When the ACC came calling, it was all over in the blink of an eye. Nobody in the Big East attempted to patch the holes as the ship sank.

The league just splintered and collapsed.”

It didn’t collapse. It raided CUSA and changed its name to the AAC. The history completely disproves the author’s point.

Will the PAC-12 survive if more teams leave? Can George Kliavkoff stop...

This is a ridiculously bad article. The PAC 12 would have no leverage? Even with two teams, they would have a lot of leverage. The Big East split apart? Is that what happened? I thought they raided CUSA.

I don’t love when fans post their random opinion as an article, but I guess that’s realignment journalism these days.

This is a good response to a strange thought. Y'all are so confident in where you're heading that you don't care where your competitors for the division title are at? You probably should.

I guarantee you that UCF fans are paying attention to Cinci, Houston, and Memphis during the off-season.

I like how this guy thinks. Not that USF is helping the case this year and not that this guy's opinion will change anything. I still agree that the AAC is better than the ACC in football this year. Too bad everyone seems to have bought into the P5 and G5 nomenclature. Years like this one really do show that trying to draw a hard line between quality programs by treating an entire conference as "power" is a farce. I have spoken.

    https://fansided.com/2019/11/16/aac-replace-acc-power-5/amp/

The break up of the Big East came at a bad time for us. We were forced to accept whatever the P5 wanted to give us. If the AAC looked then as it does now, the two groups of schools would not have gotten locked into the same arrangement.

So how you deal with trolls is to babysit them and give them the attention they're looking for?

Ok, now I'm thinking you're not a UCF parody, you're just a Bullspen-level USF fan.

At this point, I think there is plenty of evidence that you come to this board to troll. People that don't like trolls ignore them, but you initiate more arguments than you respond to.

You also ignore any logical progression that you don't agree with and seem to be looking for opportunities for 'zingers' rather than finishing any debates. I doubt you've ever admitted to being wrong on this board.

If we're both concerned the other is trolling, let's just go our separate ways and agree to disagree. I'll have you on ignore from here on out. Good luck and God bless.

The only one recognizing you as troll who doesn't troll is you. You are the quintessential troll ... just limited in your hunting grounds.

So you're the prey on this scenario?

Again, having trouble believing this isn't some parody account. What is something only someone who went to USF would know?

So now I'm a troll who doesn't troll because he's afraid of trolling?

What is the chance that you're a UCF fan pretending to be a USF fan to make USF look dumb? If that is it, please stop. And especially now after they got their asses kicked, now would be a good time to give them a break. Wasn't right for them to gloat over us from the Big East, doesn't make it right to gloat/mock them now.

Good on you for making the attempt, though.

If all I'm interested in is pwning y'all, why am I not commenting on the games today? If I'm a troll, why do I stay off the main board and respond more than initiate?

I've been quite consistent: I'm here for interesting conversations with a fanbase that is at a fascinating point in their history. I'm not trying to embarrass anyone, but I do get frustrated that y'all haven't been able to keep up like other fanbases have. It's tough to have interesting conversations when y'all don't read or understand the threads.

You seem to be missing my point that Nortre Dame lost the national championship game and the vaunted Colley Matrix listed them on the top of their ranking...because of that absurdity, the NCAA won't directly state they are co-champions.

They do, it's in the record book, which we've been discussing this whole time.

I'm not going to argue this nonsense with you any longer...

    That sounds good to me.

Actually want the NCAA to tell me that Notre Dame is a co-national champion...I want those words to come from them...

Are you serious? Please tell me you graduated from USF.

I'll do my best to break it down for you:

-Notre Dame, UCF, and Utah all are listed in the record book as being picked by major selectors.

-Utah and UCF (officially) interpret this to mean that they have a share of the National Championship.

    -ESPN confirmed UCF's interpretation.

Why would the next rational step be to find someone who interprets it that way for ND or else it's not true? You now have 3 official sources interpreting a 4th official source the same way. Can you even find one that supports your opinion?

I'd be surprised if it doesn't just say it that way in the record book. Y'all claimed it wasn't obvious, but again, USF reading comprehension. I'll take a look.

  14. 16 minutes ago, DJBulls said:

The key thing they are trying to lay their hat on (well it's right there in the record book) is the same piece of information giving no indication that they are co-champions...

Ok, well so far ESPN, Utah, and our stadium interpret that information one way. On the other side all we have are the opinions of Bulls fans.

Can you find something that says, "Clearly the NCAA was just noting the selector in the record book, not declaring a national champion"?

I'm feeling pretty good about the decision so far. I don't like to leave messages directed at me without replies, so going on every rabbit trail and misinterpretation with him was exhausting.
