LOL thats fine. My argument is firing CCS and making KB the coach.  I feel if CCS is fired, then KB needs to go as well. Chit, Im still open to giving Shaun King a crack at OC. But for now, I think KB will get the offense right.

Csk was a high school coach and wasn’t successful. did nothing to deserve to be a Oc. Ckb won a state championship in high school in 4 years and won championships at Jacksonville with top offense in the nation and won national championship at Valdosta state undefeated with top offense in the nation which is the same school that Kirby smart, mike leach, and Dana holgerson coached at. Ckb knows the state and knows what it takes to build programs. I believe he would kill it here! How is valdosta on a 24 game winning streak (Clemson is on a 25 game winning streak) undefeated again right now and won the conference ? Because those are Ckb’s players. He built that. Literally left them a dynasty. Crazy thing is all those kids come back next year! Ckb has always taken programs like ours and made them great. He’s a winner as a head coach. He wins championships which we haven’t done here.

Your point? The players are more than talented enough to score more than 10-14 pts.  KB is suppose to be the one to figure out our offensive woes and he hasn't delivered yet. I still feel he will get the offense going, but until then he has UNDERACHIEVED and our offense is our biggest WEAKNESS. So why would you put our biggest weakness in charge?

We are awful vs the run and 3rd down and are awful on special teams also, haven’t been able to block the good teams, have no QBs, and no explosive playmakers., and have recruited bad. Starts at the top! No one can do what ford does. He hasn’t played and a walk on is tied with the tight end on touchdown catches.

Once again, CCS and BJM has the defense up to speed and the defense has been carrying us. The OFFENSE is what's holding us back. We have 2 losses to teams that scored 17 and 14 pts. So you want to give the team to the offensive coordinator that has been UNDERachieving? That's just dumb...like this thread.

I don’t believe that. I believe the teams we have barley lost to have good defenses that stop the run and the offenses weren’t good. When we have played the top teams in the conference  with good offenses we have been blown out by half time. No reason a program like here in Florida should go from 11-2, 10 and 2, 7amd6, to where we are now. That is recruiting and from the top. Obviously something isn’t right in the program. Ckb has only been here this year. With QBs hurt, and not players he recruited. Let’s be honest with ourselves, last year we barely won 7 games and looked bad. We also had a lot more talent than we do this year. How does that happen!

Every failed coach and every successful coach faces this scenario in their first year, so we are still nit any closer to knowing if he can do it. The results thus far have been a disaster.

We already have more passing touchdowns now  than we had all of last year. Redshirt freshman Qb that has missed a lot open passes and our best playmaker suspended all year and our receivers are average at best and we don’t have a special back like we had with Mack. What you expect to happen this season ? Donovan Jennings getting hurt early in the game killed the offense vs temple. Oline couldn’t run block or pass block vs them. Goes back to recruiting which ckb was not here for.

I like Kerwin Bell but the program needs to burn to the ground (metaphorically) and rebuilt by someone who knows how to build from scratch.

Ckb has been here since spring. These aren’t his players. He was brought here to fix this mess of not recruiting very well the last 3 years.  Ccs got rid of Bell, Salomon, Antoine, Mack, while we also lost starters McCants, Bronson. He hasn’t been able to recruit anyone that is here. We have one of the worst Qb situations in college football. Vs the better teams in the conference the oline hasn’t been able to block and we haven’t had 1 running back besides ford do something special vs the better teams.  Goes back to recruiting. Even with all that we have had receivers open. We either have dropped balls or Qb has missed a lot of opportunities. Sooner or later the players have to make the plays when they get put in good situations. Ckb knows how to build from scratch. He has done it every where he has been. He has recruited every where he had been and in less that 3 years won either a conference or national championship. His Valdosta state players he recruited still haven’t lost a game this year and are still #1 in the country on a 23 game win streak. Ckb built that. This is ccs 3rd year and Ckb 1st year. You give Ckb 3 years and I believe the roster and team wouldn’t look like this. Just look at ucf dynamic players compared to us, they run past everyone . We didn’t even look fast vs Temple a team from up north.

Well to be fair no one on this team has done anything against top teams in the conference so that line is very long. We will see what happens against Temple.

You are right! That just shows we need to recruit better. But I also believe ckb offense has helped us because you can tell he’s actually game planing vs the defense each week running different plays that attacks the defense. Unlike last couple years where we just lined up and ran the same plays

Really???? Guess you missed the run where he dodged 6 players to gain 25 yards....you don’t need an 80 yard run to be a playmaker. Jesus, the dude ran his balls off this past month and you want to take a dump on him? Rah!

    This!

Hasn’t done it vs the top teams in the conference. Didn’t last year. He would be 3rd string at ucf. Umass is awful , Ecu was bad , UConn was bad . He’s a solid back and pretty tough. Sometimes runs out of bounds instead of trying to get more yards for a bigger back.

I disagree. I don’t think Ford is our best offensive player. I think Wilcox is and I think it’s a close 2nd between Ford and Cronkrite, but I would probably give the nod to Cronkrite. Ford is an amazing player but I don’t necessarily think he’s our best.

I like Cronkite as a football player but he isn’t fast or a playmaker. He got ran down from behind last week. Watching the games last year and this year he struggles vs the better teams when the holes aren’t wide open and doesn’t make defenders miss.

Last year at Valdosta there were two players labeled as TEs of which one of them had any catches and they had 6.

#36 played basically the tight end position which put him in the back field. How wilcox and Mathis have caught a couple touchdowns from the back field.

  10. Last year ckb tight ends caught 9 touchdowns. But they were more blockers and not like Wilcox. Also the big wr #3 at Valdosta state played a lot of tight end. Some years at Jacksonville he played with a tight end. Some years he didn’t. When he first got hired here ckb stated that his system will be based on the players he has. If he has 2 good RBs he would play them both. Like him moving ford to slot. If he has a bunch of good receivers he will play them or like this year we have better tight ends so he is playing them more. I also believe a lot of good Oc’s gameplan vs the defense and put the best formations on the field to be successful that week.

The only play that I felt was reminiscent of KB's offense as I have observed it prior to here in both route, primary receiver and execution, happened to be my favorite play, was the pass for Rygol to Horne TD. We had more than 100 yds less than his average in passing while at Valdosta, while having less yards per catch and fewer attempts. Also at Valdosta the TE was the 14th leading receiver on the team coming in below the FB and just above the QB with 3.36 yards per game which is not the same as having two of your top 5 players in receiving be TEs.  There is absolutely no way that you believe these things are the same and you were seeing them all season especially in regards to TE as KB has never utilized them in his life besides when he was having two line up for us for the sole purpose of blocking.

As of right now our best player on offense is suspended and watching the games we don’t have other explosive players. Yes there are times our receivers have been open and qb has missed them or receivers have dropped the ball. Probably the reason why both tight ends are doing so well because they catch the ball when they get it. The play designs are there. We have even threw some screens to the receivers. Issue is we don’t have another player like ford. Or like we use to have here. We lost some good players and also some talented fast guys have left/pushed out the program. I think ckb has done the best he could with the situation he is in. He has made changes and made adjustments to help our players and isn’t just mailing it in running the same plays. Hopefully he gets the time to get what he needs. If not I fear he will be successful some where else and we will regret it!

We go as Cronk goes. Its been that way for two years. His workload has had a significant change in the latter part of the season. Whether you call that a change in philosophy or not, its what is happening on the field. I don't recall KB saying anything about how good his running game was gonna be though. Everything was baout how he was gonna air it out.

Ckb Offense last year at Valdosta state Ran for over 250 yards a game. He wants to be balanced and be able to have explosive players passing the ball and running the ball. People at Valdosta state have been complaining about there team this year that the coach is running the same plays and isn’t aggressive down the field and aren’t game planning vs the defense  They only scored 20 points last week with the same players vs a team that they scored over 50 points on last year! I believe his pro style philosophy’s are great for us if he gets a chance to recruit because like you have seen he is able to change formations and still be able to run his offense out of different personnel’s to Get the most out of the little talent we have.

  13. Ckb will figure it out. He always has. Look how he is recruiting on offense. We have 2 talented QBs committed and a lot of speed/playmakers with the ball. I think he understands recruiting this state and has a feel about him that people like. Also Ckb has went out offering some juco offensive lineman and playmakers. As of right now we have 0 juco offensive lineman on the team. Is it ckb fault our best player/playmaker Ford is suspended? I think not!

    I will take a stab.

Timing is the problem and Puc has pointed that out as an issue previously. KB doesn't likely have enough time under the current situation to be successful even if he could be successful. The meter on this staff started running in 2017. Normally the fan base and the school will give you two - three seasons to get something new running.

All of these "system guys" usually take a year or two to get their systems running. Art Briles at Baylor didn't really get rolling until year 4. Also, these "systems" seem to work better only at the lower levels of football. See Tony Franklin at Troy and La Tech versus Auburn and California. Mike Leach at TTU took 3 years and 4 years at WSU to get to 9 wins.

If given enough time and a full offensive staff, maybe it is possible that KB could have success here. Yet we are still arguing at present whether he even has the autonomy to make the decision as to who starts and plays. Was he dumb enough to leave McCloud in there on Saturday or was that CCS's decision?

Looking at it realistically, I don't think it matters. KB is currently tied to CCS. Trying to implement a pro style offense here is stupid. Is it fair to judge him after 7 games? Probably not thus the tendency to set him apart from the rest of the coaching staff.

However,  CCS has shown here and at Texas he is incompetent. He tried to reinvent the wheel at Texas. Then again here with Gilbert, then now again with KB. All failures. It's just dumb.

Why continue to experiment with an offense that might work one day given enough time when we have seen offenses work successfully here under Blackwell, Daniels, Grothe and QF that are based solely on athletic dual threat QBs. You have an advantage on those recruits over the big schools in only that you are willing to let them stay a QB at the college level versus having to convert to a DB at a P5 school.

Ckb had 2 duel threat QBs at Valdosta state. His Qbs ran for over 1000 yards. One ran for 11 touchdowns and the other ran for 7. The back up was Ivory Durham who won Raines High School the state championship. He was in the same class as mccloud. He was just short.  Ckb hasn’t got to recruit the qb he needs here yet. He has 2 athletic QBs committed in this class. Offenses work because of the Qb that is catching the snaps. Ckb got stuck with ccs QBs that we’re recruited before he got here. Ckb always finds good QBs every where he has been. His qb at Valdosta state came in 2nd for the d2 heisman. So we can’t say Ckb offense won’t work here when he has had Duel Threat QBs just like last year. His starter had 50 total Total touchdowns as a sophomore.

What some people seem to forget is that the head coach sets the tone and the culture of the program.  He hires all of the assistants and decides who to recruit.  I thought Gilbert needed to go last year but the problems with this program run much deeper than which OC is calling plays.

Chuckles changed OCs at Texas and nothing changed.  Plain and simple he is the problem and needs to go.

Someone gets it. Definitely a culture is issue. You see it the way we play and in recruiting. We shouldn’t look as slow navy. It starts from the top, if we didn’t lose 6 in a row last year I wouldn’t be defending the new coaches. But they walked into a bad situation and it looks like it’s at the point where it can’t be fixed. Can’t judge a offense without a competent Qb or him being able to get his guys in 7 games.

Exactly what percentage of the zero offense KB has produced against non FCS level teams would you say is CCS’ fault? As you pointed out Blake was the QB and everyone said that was the thing CCS was doing to hold the offense back because he favored the senior he had brought in. We were told if only McCloud could start then things would miracle themselves into place because KB just needs dual threat QBs and the tapes all showed clearly how things were night and day better with McCloud. Then McCloud started and he looked great against a KB level team but as soon as we played a real team it was McCloud that was holding us back and if only Blake could start then we would be fine. Now that KB has killed Blake and Mccloud I am sure missing them will be the only problem and if he could have just have had either of them healthy things would be just swell despite the fact he has yet to produce any passing offense at all against FBS level competition, no matter who the QB is, at any point in his career.

Maybe our qb situation is that bad. Just because we are fbs doesn’t mean we have recruited good QBs here. Obviously you don’t watch the games. Any average Qb can hit wide open receivers. The oline has played great the last 3 weeks. Mccloud had a lot of time yesterday. We are just a really bad team with no big time players. Bb threw 12 touchdowns last year and 11 ints. Mccloud obviously shouldn’t be starting at this level. You can’t have a explosive or great offense if the Qb can’t complete a pass. We have to recruit better. Obviously the last 3 years ccs has struggled recruiting QBs and talent. Look at ucf when there players are open the Qb hits them. And about Kb producing. We ran for 240 vs a BYU team that just beat Boise state. Who supposedly have a good offense. If ckb can get a qb in here to throw the ball. It will change everything I believe!

  17. 4 minutes ago, usf97 said:

I will say after how terrible McCloud looked against BYU, I seriously doubted he would play in this Navy game and was expecting to hear some announcement that Rygol would start. McCloud even sat out practice on Tuesday I believe.

    Obviously that never happened.

Then to see their insistence on leaving him in there today does make you question the coaches (KB especially) ability to evaluate what appears to be obvious to every lay person.

A lot of time in college football it’s the head coaches decision on who plays at Qb and who get taken out. Obviously mccloud is ccs recruit. The line blocked Navy better than any of the teams before that played them. Even the Memphis game. Ckb ran the ball but navy decided to stack the box and did it better than BYU. You can’t just run the ball vs good teams with everyone stopping the run. Sooner or later the Qb will have to make the throw . Wilcox was open a bunch and mccloud just didn’t throw him the ball. A lot of receivers were running wide open and mccloud had good protection. He just didn’t hit them again. Ckb also called short passes and mccloud missed them. Obviously it’s a recruiting issue here and a qb issue. If you can’t see that then you are watching the game with your heart, not your eyes!

  18. Obviously in last 3 years, we have missed on a lot of the recruits that have been signed. Even shows with us trying to bring in so many grad transfers. Scott frost found talent and speed. A lot of kids that went to ucf and out of state that USF didn’t go after or offer. Also we have gotten rid of some of our best players. Our coaches either don’t know talent or haven’t worked at recruiting hard enough the last 3 years. It needs to change or we won’t compete for the conference championship. We just don’t have enough playmakers right now and qb situation is probably the worst in the fbs.

  19. Even With us playing a great Wisconsin defense and struggling hitting open receivers with a young qb , we are tied for 3rd in the conference in touchdown passes. That’s with mccloud missing easy ones because he got hurt. UConn he missed some easy ones also. If he can get healthy and play better we will keep getting better. If not then it won’t be intill next year if bell can get a qb.

  20. 2 minutes ago, puc86 said:

I wish he had simply not improved it but he has completely driven it into the ground as bad as CWT came in and improved CSH's three win team to a two win team including a loss to a team from such a low level of football that Kerwin Bell could have coached there. Then for years all we heard was just wait until CWT gets his players and you will see how he turns it around and makes us the new Stanford of the East Coast. That day never came because running that nonsense here with our players will get you to .500. KB's offense is the same thing he and his offense are a complete and utter waste of time that will be gone long before it ever miracles its way to success. This is not KBs fault it is our fault for hiring him but he needs to be someone else with a new scheme and he needs to do it in a hurry because the clock is ticking on him and  CCS and he needs to be more prolific starting 7 weeks ago.

Ckb Offense is nothing like Cwt or The one at Stanford. Like he stated it’s a pro spread offense. Has a pro style passing game with new plays every week but also has the spread run and screen game like he said. His QBs last year if you go to Valdosta state stats ran for over 1100 yards and 18 touchdowns. Also thrown for 50 touchdowns. So no it’s nothing like cwt or Stanfords old school pro style. Ckb said when he took the job he has the first no huddle Pro spread system. If Q got to play in ckb’s Offense we would win the conference. Because he’s detailed. Not just play ground the way flowers was running around. Didn’t matter what play was called.

Maybe...I thought I was looking at the receivers Valdosta State had awhile ago and they were mostly small receivers also.

Yeah I believe ford fits what he wants to do. If you watch the Valdosta state games on YouTube you will see a explosive receiver core that are natural wide receivers running routes and never dropping passes. I believe Ford fits what bell wants but he’s suspended. McDoom was open 3 or 4 times last week and the UConn game and qb missed him. I believe Horne is more of a track guy than natural wide receiver. Watching the games he struggled early in season running routes and creating space as a receiver. Bell had 1 senior receiver at Valdosta state that is on practice squad with chiefs. Also 2 more were all conference as sophomores. He also has another Receiver in the NfL from small school Jacksonville going on his 4th year. I believe ford was going to have a big year. First game playing  vs ga tech he scored in slot and then had 100 yards the 2nd game. It sucks he is suspended to see what he could have kept doing in Ckb’s system! We don’t have no one close to him right now as a game changer. That makes ckb Job even tougher. Probably why we have offered a couple juco receivers for guys to play now.
