And having lost very little in terms of yds is managing to do worse, that’s not called improvement any more than kbs doing worse was an improvement. Better coaches get better results with the same players . Period. Full stop.

Football is about jimmy and joes and then putting them into position to be successful. Let’s be honest. USF hasn’t had a legit nfl player in 3 years. D2 schools have had more guys get drafted. Also year before Coach Bell, Blake Barnett played in every game. Last year he got hurt (The SMU game which he threw for like 250 in one half) and was stuck with a banged up redshirt freshman that wasn’t ready to play all year. Still found ways to beat BYU who Tennessee couldn’t beat at home and played with Cincinnati. But When talent was close Coach Bell offense like vs Ecu scored over 40 points.. or how we outplayed Cincinnati defense last year. Coach Bell wasn’t the head coach and wasn’t in charge of recruiting for 3 years prior.

Absolutely. The only two games left to potentially win are ECU and Tulsa.

Coach Bell’s OffenseVs Ecu who we play next week And don’t make me pull up his offense vs a fcs team. Obviously Coach Bell had the same players and obviously we don’t have near the talent to compete at the fbs level. Coach Bell didn’t even get a year to recruit a qb or guys for his offense. (When he has recruited he has won multiple championships with elite offenses). CJF went and got his Qb in fortin. That’s who he wanted. Yes Coach Bell was tied to CCS but was only here for 6 months. He was a proven Championship Head Coach for a reason every where he has been and we didn’t give him that opportunity.

  3. Reason we lost 6 straight games the year before and offensively didn’t have a Qb or line this pass year to be successful. With how bad it was this past year and the situation that Coach Bell was given offensively with a Qb that shouldn’t been playing. We were a fumble on goalline away from one win. And 5 missed field goals away and a awful touchdown called back from upsetting Cincinnati.

    this is so true

in the last game the mental mistakes was direct reflection on the coaching

We played really well offensively with the player issues we had all year vs a Cincinnati team that won 10 games and beat ucf. Why weren’t we much better from beginning to the end? Well we played the 4 toughest team in the conference and we don’t have championship competing players. Also played that game without the starting left tackle Donovan vs cincy. Didn’t matter who was coaching offense. Coach Bell has always been a championship winning head coach and took a leap of faith coming here. He got put in the worst offensive situation in the country. The man can coach and recruit. I believe we will regret letting him go and not giving him the opportunity to build the team like he has every where he has been.

Higher energy, recruiting, and incremental improvement on the field is what I'm hoping for.

Maybe some better access by the media so that they can start building the brand would be nice. It's hard to expect much from a beat reporter when the media has no access.

Yeah that was ccs ways not Bells ways but he gets a lot of blame that he don’t deserve for only being here less than a year. The guy is a great head coach. All his players love to play for him and he knows how to run a program. Wish we would have gave him more time to do what he has done every where else he had been. If Bell goes off and wins a championship some where else and build a program then we are going to have a sour Taste in our mouth with him being a Florida guy and proven winner.

  6. USF should have a big season next year and compete for the conference championship with the staff gone and Coach Bell gone on offense right ? We have all these good players and Cjs and Charlie Weise Jr to run the offense. Mccloud won’t be starting next year with new Qb transfer coming in. But we will still blame ckb for the offense and blame him the Qb/wr/oline play when he didn’t bring those guys in and he was here for 1 season and ccs 3rd season. It’s comical to me that everyone is saying next year is now a rebuilding year but we didn’t want ckb to fix it and bring his guys in like he has every where he has been and build it.  Go watch the Dailey Stampede video of Clemson Offense and ckb Offense from this past year. It’s a lot the same except Clemson has the best players. Go Bulls

  7. Csk didn’t recruit very well in the Bay Area. Who did he get that he wasn’t suppose to get ? Also have some players he recruited that don’t even play for us. Not a very good talent evaluator in my eyes. Why we were 4 and 8 this past year. Also heard csk was causing a lot of issue among the coaching staff and not doing his job for what it’s worth.

At this point in time he likely is one of the better candidates.

This was his baby let him finish what he started.

Support for Usf would grow and that IPF would be started quite soon.

We got some big name teams on the horizon to play and we had a good history in those games with him.

I wasnt big on this at first but I am now.

Now some wont like this but I do think Bell should be given more opportunity to get this offense rolling.  This offense is seriously lacking in talent. Bell had a juggernaut offense at Valdosta St and I think with input from Leavitt it can be tuned to work here.

Just look at the qb Valdosta St had he was so much better than McCloud or Blake. We get a dual threat qb here like that and a solid defense...watch out.

Supposedly the Valdosta State kid is graduating with a year left. Kids a duel threat. Could be what we need next year and he would know the offense.

This is the problem for KB.  The offense didnt improve in the 2nd half of the season.  We looked completely lost and totally unprepared.

A KB hire would be a real tough sell to the fanbase.

Last 4 games Jennings was hurt, cronkrite was out 2 of the 4. And last 4 games were the best teams in our conference! We had more yards and competed with Cincinnati. We missed like 5 field goals. We couldn’t block temple dline so we had No shot (Jennings got hurt 2nd drive of the game) Memphis and ucf were just way better than us plus, we didn’t have a scholarship qb who could hit a open wr like high school.

I wouldn't say Bell was 100% responsible for Williams...  Williams was a commit to us for months before he flipped to go P5 and the process was started when his recruiter (Dugans) left and basically brought the kid with him.  He ended up flipping again to Tennessee but he was commited to USF for months before any of that nonsense started.  Williams liked what he saw from USF before Bell was here so It's hard to say "he brought him in" especially because transfers have such an abbreviated process in the way they are recruited compared to HS kids..

Williams was interested in going to Valdosta State to play Bell. One of the reasons why the 3 kids from Columbia were coming here. Bell has that connection and brought him in.

no doubt we are in rebuild mode. as long as we trend in the right direction I'm ok with being patient.

So we can Admit we are in rebuild mode but then Bell being here less than a year no recruiting is his fault. Supposedly the best wr on the roster Latrell Williams has to sit out this year! (who Bell brought in)  we don’t want Bell doing the rebuilding ?

I remember that now ..... Hope dad has a strong influence on him. Just looking at his few vids on Rivals and definitely reminds me a bit of Q.

If he reminds you of Q and Kb don’t run a “spread offense” even tho his Valdosta QBs ran for over 1100 yards and 18 tds then why would he recruit Jordan Smith if he’s so hung up on pro style.......mhmmmmmm

  13. 12 hours ago, Bull94 said:

you are wrong. he runs a pro-style offense with a man style blocking scheme.

we had zone blocking linemen. it's what Taggart ran. He tried to turn them into pro-style o-linemen.

we will never have the top players at this level to run his offense successfully. they all go to alabma and wisconsin, etc.

Mhmm than you have no idea about football. Bell ran outside zone all year last year, and power read and read plays. Go watch film of their games.

I think it works if you are at the top end of your level (ie Alabama, Wisconsin, etc). you get the quality of players that a complex pro-style offense needs to succeed against their competition.

Valdosta is at the top end of D2. The quality of recruits they get compared to their opponents allows them to run that type of offense successfully.

There is a reason that lesser teams started running the spread and it was because the top programs got the best athletes(linemen in particular) and they weren't able to compete. so they got smaller more athletic linemen and taught them to zone block. not nearly as complicated and you don't need to overpower your opponent. It's what allowed the Texas Techs, Baylors, etc to compete with the big boys.

Kb Offense is a zone blocking scheme. At Valdosta they ran outside ZONE more than any one in the country. But here he didn’t have athletic enough oline to do it. We have a bunch of big slow lineman. Why he couldn’t run his outside zone running scheme. Go watch Valdosta state and watch us. Outside zone was the staple of the offense when he gets the right olineman.

KB only beat them fully abandoning the pass and basically going all run and utilizing a wild cat hybrid offense. I am not sure knowing that JM could not pass well with the all the deficiencies on offense why KB did not go full rush all the time. He could have utilized the play action to catch the defense off guard when they would stack the box.

Every team stacked the box on us and dared the wrs to get open and the qb to hit them. Watch the games.

    Absolutely NO to Taggart.

I don’t love the Lane Kiffin idea either, but better than Willie.

I’d take a shot with Shaun King before either one of them.

King = coached high school and was unsuccessful. Got out of coaching then did 7 on 7 and has been a position coach. Been average recruiting the bay and you want him as head coach. This board is crazy
