Are you trying to say KB was a great offensive coordinator?

Yes, proven it everytime after year 1 every where he has been. I just think we have really bad players and QBs that bell didn’t recruit. CJS and weis are playing with the same guys and Bell put gameplans together vs teams on our level talent wise like Ecu, fcs school, UConn, BYU and Put up points with better gameplans. He wasn’t here he didn’t recruit any of these players. He’s always been a head coach. It wasn’t on him that he walked into a school who lost 7 straight games before and didn’t recruit obviously for 3 year . How does that have to do with KB if CJS who was at mighty Clemson and weis who didn’t even call plays at fau cant even do better with the same players ?

In hindsight it seems like Kerwin just had better athletes at Valdosta compared to the other teams he played...

He recruited them. No difference than saban or ucf having better players than who they have played.  Obviously cjs had better players than who he played at Clemson and he wasn’t even the play caller. Obviously Willie taggart had better players here at USF than who he played. It’s called recruiting.  You could have brought anyone in for 6 months to run the offense last year with our talent and they wouldn’t be good. Not his fault ccs didn’t recruit well enough. Bell has recruited every where he’s been. Why he’s won.

    pro style always works though

Bells offense is pro style/spread. No different than lane kiffin at fau or bama or LSU or any of the top offenses. Just got to be able to recruit your guys that fit what you do.  Just because your qb can’t run doesn’t mean your not spread. Kerwin’s QBs at Valdosta st ran for 18 tds and over 1000 yards. Pro style under center QBs don’t do that.

They all think they are different and can be the one to successfully run what made them successful elsewhere, it’s our job to vet them and find the ones not trying to shove their square pegs into our round holes. If anyone says the words pro or that their plans revolve around having a top offensive line they should be immediately disqualified and should they make it through that step there should be a clause in their contract that ever saying those thing during their tenure here will result in them being termed immediately with cause.

And Kerwin Bell’s Offense is has a lot of spread in it. His Qbs at Valdosta state in 2018 ran for 18 touchdowns and over 1,000 ? How is that not some spread ?

Why can’t we have a top oline ? If we know what we want in recruiting why can’t we go out and have a top oline in our conference?

Then why do our athletes have p5 offers like UCF and everyone isn’t tied in the G5? We have people here that have had talent and potential it unfortunately has been squandered by hiring KB and the likes of him. KB has had one year in FBS and it was complete garbage, there is nothing you can claim to have actually seen from him that demonstrated he can be successful at this level. Someone can be an excellent line cook at McDonalds but that does not mean they will flourish at Ocean Prime.

Their was also nothing that showed jim harbaugh, mike leach, brian kelly, or chip kelly would have been successful at the fbs level.  also oc at texas when he went from d2 to Oklahoma st. Cant compare Bell to others. He didnt go right into coaching and has all ways been a head coach. Played 13 years professionally before coaching.

Just because a player has a power 5 offer doesnt mean they are good. Alot had to do with size. They get dropped for a reason. Ive seen power 5 players transfer and couldnt even play at a 1aa/d2 level. Frost at ucf didnt recruit off rankings, he signed good football players. Otis anderson and killian didnt even have alot of offers. Usf didnt want either of them.

What about the other 9 games where we sucked ass on offense?

Yall talk about wanting to see improvement, we saw that last year vs a top cincy defense. Teams that had alot more talent dominated us. Teams that didnt, ecu, uconn, south carolina st, we scored over 40: Which games? Thats also with a banged up mccloud who wasnt ready to play and no johnny ford who was the teams best player.

No by every ranking our recruiting has been right on par with them and they are not significantly better recruiting than us despite the results. As for two hole people standing out at the lowest levels of football, that does not a team make.

Recruiting ranking in the group of 5 means nothing. They give everyone a 3 star when they get offers. All about evaluating and developing talent. And we probably won’t have another person drafted here again this year from this team

I think kb was lost and in over his head and that his talent level at Valdosta state was measurably better than the teams he faced but here we do not have that difference nor would we be likely to achieve it. The Gilbert/CCS USF team would have beaten KBs Valdosta Team by 50 pts so no I do not think they are actually more overall talented and I think KB should do something besides fail miserably at this level before you are so confident that he is this great coach being systematically oppressed by the FBS system.

So ucf and Memphis and those type teams weren’t measurably better than other teams in the conference the last 3 years ? It’s callee recruiting. But if talent level here is so much different than Valdosta state then why more nfl players last 2 years at a d2 school than there was here at USF.

Ya you lost me at KB, his entire career has been decades at a level just below HS. His salary at those places was about that of a position coach here and he produced a dreadful offense here that earned his firing. No one has ever seen the diamond in the rough that you would like to imagine he was and no one attempted to snatch him up as though he were actually wrongly discarded. He was fired for great cause (actually he never should have been called up to begin with) and the issue wasn’t that but that we never seem to learn what it actually takes to be successful here.

You think Coach Bell was lying last year when he said his d2 team was faster than the guys here at USF. Basically a d2 team was more talented than us. Hes probably not wrong. In last 2 years valdosta State has had 1 guy get drafted and 4 guys make nfl teams. USF has had 0 guys get drafted and only 2 or 3 make nfl teams. So obviously Bell knows talent if he recruited them and had more guys at a d2 school go to the nfl than we have here lately.

Maybe I was watching a replay of one of last years' games but yesterday I saw wrs running wide open and balls sailing over their head or bouncing 10 yards in front of them ...

Yeah well cjs recruited Fortin so why isn’t he playing? Coach Bell didn’t even get to recruit anyone. If you look at Bells past he’s always recruited elite QBs that have put up big time #s. His Qb at Vsu was ranked player of the decade in d2. He recruited so well that the next coaching staff walked in and went 12 and 1 last year with the same players but didn’t score near the points or dominate like when he was the head coach.

Didn't blame CJS, simply stated my perceived fact. CJS has said several times that we had some real play makers at the skill positions. Other than two undersized RB's I have not seen one. We have FOUR QB's that can't make basic throws and WR's that can't get open. We have an OC that wants to run those 2 undersized RB's into a D-line where our O-line can't move anybody.

But, then again, I guess we were picked last in the conference for a reason.

Just wait till next year... AGAIN

One of those QBs (Fortin) is who he recruited and wanted here. Maybe just not a good talent evaluator. Because Fortin the guy he recruited isn’t even playing.

This is a very fair position to take and I am hopeful that you are right but we didn’t look improved against Citadel and that was because we were saving our offense for later, then we didn’t look improved against ND and that’s because we were out classed and then today we did worse against Cincinnati than last season because this season they are a top 20 team (ignore half the teams aren’t playing) and up next we play a team we waxed last season so improvement maybe difficult. There has been time to demonstrate some improvement and no one thought that we should have a better record at this moment but having something that could be mistaken for an offense shouldn’t be too much to ask.

Cincy was 8 and 1 last year #21 in the country when we played them! Only lost was to Ohio st and Coach Bell’s Offense out coached them with our less talent. We just missed like 4 field goals and had a touchdown called back. Coach Bell has proven himself as a head coach at multiple schools and his offense after year 1 has always been top in the county. Instead we hired a head coach that didn’t even run or call the offense at Clemson. And a Oc that hasn’t done either also. You watch our offense and it’s so simple no one is ever running wide open like last year. (Qb banged up and couldn’t hit water falling out of a boat) vs a fcs team last year we scored like 55 with Mcloud. This year we couldn’t even throw a pass.
