I don't think so. I suspect him receiving quite a bit of playing time last season means he doesn't have much of a case for a waiver for immediate eligibility.

He averaged 5 minutes per game in 23 games. In comparison, Jamir Chaplin averaged 4.5 minutes in 20 games.

That's not much playing time imo.

Bradley’s story was such a sad one. I remember sitting down and interviewing him on media day before his senior year and I came away thinking there was something wrong. He was poised to be the team leader, top returning player, etc. The interview was a typical one, but Bradley was very understated, quiet. In hindsight, we all know why. He already had his prognosis, but it hadn’t been made public yet. He knew there was going to be no senior season. I didn’t know he had a daughter. If she’s D-1 capable, it would be amazing to see her in Green & Gold one day.

Wouldn't she have to leave the country and play in Europe for Jose Fernandez to recruit her? 🙅‍♂️

Again, what are the rules for College Basketball practices and Coaching?

I thought this was only allowed after Midnight Madness or whatever the hell they call it now, in October.....have the rules changed?

That whole Oct. 15 being the first day of practice for every school ended years ago.

IIRC "Practice" starts 45 days prior to a team's first game.

"Workouts" with coaches on the court usually begin, in some form, in May or early June. Just for a couple of hours each week and continues when incoming freshmen and transfers arrive for Summer B. These workouts are usually done by position not the entire team at once.

    Workouts end in August.

Practice, with the entire team in the gym working on plays, working on defense etc. begins in September. I think the first day of practice last season was September 24, 2019.

    Hope that was helpful.

But was it the all star who was great or the strength and conditioning coach?

The all-star was great so he could pick anyone to be his personal trainer and he picked this guy when he was 25 years old. And he caught the attention of the Raptors strength coach enough so that "Wallace helped play a role in assisting Toronto's head strength and conditioning coach in pre-draft workouts and the NBA Summer League."

I see this as nothing but a good thing. USF's players, who have all dreamed of playing in the NBA, will have a strength coach who trained a NBA all-star and knows what it takes to prepare your body to perform at a high level on the highest level.

On paper this seems like a good thing for USF. Hopefully it works out well.

So his last school basically said, "We don't want you."?

So that Tweet would have you believe. However, I was told that Prince Oduro was not run off and the Mississippi State coach was caught by surprise that he entered the transfer portal. Same person told me that Oduro was likely to get a waiver because of some things that went down at his first school (Siena) which ultimately led to sanctions and I think a show cause for the coach. Kids can transfer and play immediately when that happens but Oduro left the school before the NCAA investigation was completed. What I was told was that part of Oduro's waiver application would include being given immediate eligibility because of what happened at Siena and he already sat once.

Whatever it was I'm glad he got the Waiver. Kid can back up Yetna and in a smaller lineup he can back up Durr.

I know they made a rule that if you hire a HS coach, you can't go after his players for a few years. Not sure on the parent thing.

Two years unless hired as one of the 3 assistant coaches.

I think the rule for this in basketball is slightly different from football.

cant do that anymore, against the rules

When did they change that rule?

All I could find was that as long as they're one of the three assistant coaches on the staff you can hire the parent of a recruit. In sharp case his father is a former professional basketball player who has coaching experience  at the High School level. So, he's qualified.

Not according to nationalletter.org if I'm reading that correctly....

If I get an NLI and get a complete release, can I sign another NLI in the same signing year?

No. NLI policy states a prospective student-athlete is only permitted to sign one valid NLI in an academic year. Therefore, if you sign an NLI during the early period and get a complete release by the institution or one of the NLI committees before the spring signing period ends, you are not permitted to sign a second NLI in the spring. You must wait until the next academic year to sign another NLI if you have not enrolled already at a four-year institution..

He doesn't have to sign a NLI if he doesn't want to. The NLI is a binding contract but it only binds the kid to the school. The school can recruit over the kid before he enrolls (like in Okpomo's case) or a kid could sign in November only to see the Coach get fired at the  end of the season or take a better job. Heck, a school could tell a kid that he/she should ask for a release from their NLI (**** move but a school could).

I'd never let my kid sign a NLI. Some schools **** around, especially when they fire a Coach, and delay granting the release because the school wants the incoming kids to wait and see who they hire and at least talk to that Coach, blah, blag, blah.

Okpomo can sign sign financial aid papers with the Wake Forest and he is good to go.

"O" was a projec...t his knees were a problem and it did'nt work out, thats what a program like usf has to take a chance on

Well, if you're going to recruit a kid who probably should have been at a Division 2 school, Heath could have at least recruited a kid from Florida and built a relationship with a Florida HS.

I think his knees were shot as soon as stepped foot on campus. This was a recruit that just didn't pan out for Antigua.

He was not an Antigua recruit. I always thought that Omogbehin was taken because it was going to help Stan get another kid, one who was actually good at basketball,  from Omogbehin's AAU team.

    Unfortunately my thinking was wrong.
