Any expectation of seeing Mack or Bell doing some things?  We were hearing a lot of good things about Bell before he was dinged up.

Mack and Sands will get their carries. I'll be extremely surprised if Bell plays on the offense with no injuries; however I bet we see him on special teams. Of course that could mean Bell forced his way onto the field with great practices.

  2. IIRC, Allen left late in the process, around NSD. There really wasn't anyone to look at on the outside with such a short turnaround to spring ball. Think Tags made the best play he could, and that solidified that RW wouldn't look elsewhere since his talents as a recruiter were definitely a plus. Of course hindsight 20/20 and he was clearly overwhelmed with the Navy game being his best gameplan for a half. Can't help but wonder if Jancek would've been a better playcaller, yet he apparently fell off the face of the earth. Feel worlds more confident with this unit with this staff. Again, USF can afford the offense to take a step back if the defense takes a step forward. Heavy running teams will always give a 4-2-5 fits ; but I don't believe we play a team with a proven run game that also has a proven QB. So they can stack the box against the UConns and Temples of the world.

Yes, Beacon Hall and Summit Hall are open.  I'm not sure if The Hub (dining hall) or The Fit (fitness center) are yet, but they're supposed to be this fall.  The other three (Pinnacle Hall, Horizon Hall, and Endeavor Hall) are scheduled to open fall 2018.  Publix is scheduled for spring 2018.

Huh is at least open, saw a bunch of folks talk about the food.

Moved into Delta hall in '09.  Man what a first season, not quite '07-8 but I was hooked after that.  Then Skip happened.

**** I was in Epsilon (E-City) 08-09 and had several friends in "Dirty Delta."

D.J. is more of a power back. So, is he going to get the rock most of the time? Do we have an O-line for his style?

DJ and Tice are downhill runners so we will see a lot of running between the tackles. Our line is beefy enough for this and we had success the last few years with Tice, DJ and Mack running between the tackles. There will be some sweeps and outside running as well, but most of the East/West stuff will be utilized in the passing game. Plus, Q is gonna do Q things so that will naturally have opposing defenses on their heels.

  5. USF football doesn't wear a gold jersey or pant, and therefore that doesn't belong in the color combination. I'm not going to lie, I love gold as an accent, I wouldn't even mind a gold jersey if there was loads of green involved. Having a "gold out" is too reminiscent of UCF. It's clear, even in the new merch, that athletics is pushing a green/white/lime. All gold is specifically an accent; and only used on a green field. Also, gold shirts always look like the urine UCF used to wear, can never quite get it right. That's why I'm in love with the gold chrome.

Classes start next week, according to the academic calendar. I wonder if there's any buzz in the dorms and on campus about all the football hype?

Old(er) Bulls, wouldn't you love to be a freshman living in the dorms again? My freshman year was 1989: USF football was but a distant dream.

Move in day was yesterday and they were hyping the pep rally and team; the buzz is there but will the students put their money where their mouth is? I honestly think so yes.

  7. I'm anxiously waiting for game 1, as that can tell us a lot about how this team runs together. Dropped passes, missed assignments, confusion in any unit, could all draw the line for where the team is at. Of course improvement happens, and frankly the big dogs don't come knocking at the door until October so they have time to figure it out; there's just a ton of expectation for a first time coach.

As for the defense, don't forget we had a YOUNGER team and core when Tom Allen made that a top 40 unit; the reason the defense was bad was because of Raymond Woodie. BJM and CS will put most of those same players in the right position. I understand you have to pay attention to trends but sheesh.

    Alcohol Policy

Alcohol in Spartan Stadium: Due to expiring contracts, overall fan experience and compliance with Executive Order of the Chancellor 966; there will  be no sales of alcoholic beverages in or around Spartan Stadium for San Jose State athletics events.

That's interesting. The alumni moved their tailgate to the practice football field because the other venue couldn't handle the number of people.  They claim there will be a cash bar.

I will say I talked to someone who works with the alumni association/president's office and they mentioned the sales for this event we're through the roof.

I hate thinking about crap like this, but unfortunately it's reality and a part of the deal for USF until/unless we can move up. Just win, and let the chips fall...

This is the upsetting double edged sword that we have to embrace. Don't forget, if I HC gets hired away, it's because he did some **** good things. That also means that other great up and coming coaches will want to file in. Consistent success is what this program needs to get to the next level; and it'll be great if the program achieves that type of success.
