Come on, man, stop with the "us" and "we" stuff. You're not really a USF fan so please go back to using the pronouns you used when you came in as ECUshoein:

6 years ago you’re focused on pronouns.  That’s a long time ago.  Again, long memories aren’t good ones necessarily.  I was 100% right too at the time unfortunately.  There aren’t enough fans for you dictate allegiance and you’re far from the authority to try to do so.  Living so far in the past is a very Bulls thing to do.

I have a long memory ..... and don't appreciate trying to downplay something we've really needed for a long time and is pretty darn cool looking for a shell with some a/c and a couple of offices..

We all have long memories, that doesn’t make yours good.  I’m not downplaying the significantly overdue project.  I worry it’s too little too late but am glad to see action just like everyone else. It’s not a game changer that’s going to make us better than anyone.  All it does is show us the direction we need to go to close ground on schools like FAU.

The IPF looking absolutely kick ass will help too. All these years of talking about it, then spending 25 million on it just to turn out meh may kill peoples optimism that their dollars will be put to good use with the stadium too.

It’s an ipf.  It’s literally steel beams with a shell and some turf.  Not sure what you’re expecting but I wouldn’t have high expectations.  If a/c and a couple offices qualify as kicking ass then you’re all set.

Actually, I don't think we'll see any direct rental fees there.  Restaurants will be operated by Aramark (as they are across campus, including the Yuengling Center) and retail outlets might be managed by Follett (who operates the bookstore and, I think, the USF Bulls Store in the Y.C.).  The contracts for those operators will increase to be sure, which might be enough to use as part of the source of bond payments, but they likely won't be traditional commercial leases.

There will be more than 6 home games, but not that many... Go look at that school out east -- UCF doesn't show any events at their stadium other than UCF football.  Plus, 35000-40000 is small for "stadium" shows like Taylor Swift or Kenny Chesney and large for "arena" shows that can play the Amphitheatre or Amalie ... and with competition from RayJay and wherever the Rays play, there may not be a lot of concerts or monster truck shows coming to USF campus... certainly not enough for USF to count on for revenue.

    Just my own thoughts...

They have multiple bowl games and had a minor league football team use their field before Covid happened.  The revenue will be there, I just worry the expenses will eclipse the revenue like it does at a lot of places, like CSU, which ironically is the situation many here try to bring here.

I have known all about them on conference message boards and even this one years ago.  I do not use Twitter and never have so while it does not surprise that they might message nasty things to say a USF fan or program account, it is shocking that they would directly contact a high school student athlete with negative posts.

They have a much larger fanbase at this point.  It’s easy to point out the crazies when they post stupid stuff to recruits but they also have more supportive fans as well.  You have to take the bad with the good.

Were Rutgers or Maryland ever good teams? Hell, Maryland left the ACC for the Big 10 and they always sucked. There are plenty of losing schools that get invites to P5 conferences. Missouri  wasnt killing it when they got invited 2 the SEC. The Big Ten NEEDS a Florida school and if we simply win our games and focus on improving ou program than the opportunity will come. And if it doesnt than we will create our own path to success. 🤷‍♂️ Have faith my friend.

The big 12 may still be an option.  And the big10 will want to get into Florida eventually. They won’t go after us, but the downstream effects could eventually open us up for a promotion.  Sec or ACC to big 10-> acc to sec-> big 12 to acc-> aac to big 12.

I guess we agree to disagree.  When this new AAC/Conference USA 2.0 starts up in 2023, I think that USF can go undefeated in the conference and people are not going to show up to watch them take on Rice or North Texas or Charlotte.  The AAC is going to take on an even more minor-league perception starting in 2023.  Conferences such as the Big 12 and the ACC are perceived as major-league, power conferences and will draw more fans to home games if USF were to be lucky enough to join one of those leagues.

I agree with all that, it’s what I was saying.  Before the aac was actually pretty good and competed favorably with the pac and ACC in quality.  We won’t have that moving forward.  Previously, attendance problems weren’t good because of the lack of consistent winning and apathy from not taking advantage of the huge gift of the Big East ( leadership blew that).

As an aside I never understand why it had to be either/or with academics and Athletics.  To be Frank the academic gains were not nearly large enough to make up for the loss on the other front.  We went from middling in academics to the upper end of middling in academics.  We are still in the same realm academically as the jerks out East, they’re actually a harder school to get in to now.  To make things worse they built a better foundation and are well placed to improved their academics to pass us there too, eventually.

In my opinion, people didn't show up because the AAC is perceived as a minor-league college football conference, and the casual fan is not going to support something percieved as minor-league in a pro sports town.  Its even worse with the Bucs and Lightning and Rays being so successful and USF football being so horrible.

If that’s true then that means this push is dead in the water.  Replacing Ucf with fau and Cincy with uab isn’t going  to suddenly make things different in a good way.  I prefer to believe what you said isnt true.  I hope that we just feel one game short of building the multi season success required for carryover success.  It’s about winning consistently to me.

Yes that could happen and if they see they can make more money with 14 or 16 that could be included as part of the contract extension

I think the ‘25 contract has already been negotiated with 12 actual members.  Who knows with the next one? I would at this point hope it’s more like 10 years now so an ocs can be built opened and played in.  That’s the last chance.

I think a merger is our only hope, the b12 really screwed us over with their open ended expansion announcement. No one of value is paying an exit fee to then join a conference that they would then have to pay another $10 million exit fee to just to hopefully announce they are immediately leaving to join the B12, there may not be a great chance of it but the juice just isn’t worth the squeeze if you think that could happen to you.

Any additional big 12 expansion won’t happen for another 7-10 years when it’s time to renegotiate the new media deal.  That is a lifetime in college Athletics and should dissuade a school from doing what’s best for them in the short term.

I'm tired of this stupid stadium talk. I grew up in Miami and they NEVER had an on campus Stadium and still won many National titles. Hell their current stadium is like 30-45 min drive from campus. Ive worked security at UF football games as a student and the MAJORITY of people that went to the games were NOT students. Ray Jay is waaaaaaaaaay nicer than most college stadiums Ive been to and its ONLY 10 miles away from campus. Kids can uber or catch a lyft out there. At most USF should simply have a shuttle service. This has to be the most overated "need" that USF has. I promise you when I say most people, recruits, players or fans dont care about a stadium. Plus Ray Jay is a nice stadium. We just need to WIN GAMES period.

If you have to cite the exceptions then you’re fighting a losing battle.  Also, Miami is kind of in trouble, they’ve been in a long fade.  Just Google them, it’s not a good time to be a Hurricane.

  12. People forget sometimes how young the program actually is, it’s understandable that there’s been a rented home all these years.  That said it’s time to move out into a dedicated facility.  There is so much that goes into an OCS that has nothing to do with attendance.  It hits on everything missing from South Florida football-recruiting, culture, excitement for the future.  It’s a no brainier.  Funding? Not so much a no brainier.  The other guys lucked out getting one built for 55 million.  Sure it wasn’t great but that’s what renovations are for.  Just make it happen, worry about luxuries later.

If you had linked to where that guy had that stance I probably would have added it ...... but, no offense puc, you've been known to slightly embellish things at times and I didn't want to falsely impugn someone.

ESPN mentions it several times in their articles.  Not that I agree but there’s credible people reporting it.
